Yesterday was awesome. I was born and have lived my whole life in Cairo Ga. So to see the trophy yesterday was the coolest feeling especially on his day.
his impact on the league and sports in general will never be matched, he completely changed the standards and went through many struggles for the better of the community
The Dodgers did a great interview with David Robinson, the youngest son of Jackie and Rachel. It lasted a full inning. Shame you didn’t include any of that, or any of the in-stadium events to honor him, in this tribute.
Jackie Robinson excelled in everything thing he did. Great man on and off the field. Played basketball track tennis football . Thank you Jackie for your bravery and breaking the color barrier.
All these homeruns, grand slams, and hard hitters tells me that on that day, the players regardless of what team have the inspiration and the spirit of Jackie Robinson with in them
Lindor may be overpayed and overrated for his contract but he’s so fun to watch. One of the most fun players to watch in baseball, he has so much energy!
We've had our share of Jackies and Dave Winfields and Mr. Octobers/Reggie Jacksons et al. The "black" players in MLB have long ago passed the baton over to the Latino brothers so they can carve their own history in Major League Baseball, as A-Rod, Big Papi and others have now already done.
Are they ever going to have a Moses “Fleetwood” Walker day? Since this is cancel culture society, are we going to remove Cap Anson from the Baseball Hall Of Fame? Anson helped start the color line in baseball that lasted from 1884 until April 15th 1947. Maybe MLB just likes having every player wear 42 every year and not informing everyone why this even came to be. “Maybe one day we will all wear 42” -Pee Wee Reese
Why is Branch Rickey snubbed year after year? This should be his day too because he made it happen. Oh sure, it would've happened eventually but Rickey was the one with guts enough to make it happen and helped Jackie get through all the racist BS thrown at him, yet no mention of him. April 15th should be called Jackie Robinson-Branch Rickey Day!
I think Rickey would recognize the bigger importance of Robinson and concede that his story was nowhere near as groundbreaking. Yes, he took the shot, but in that same vein he was just making a business decision, even with the risks and changes that might come with it. If there’s anything that we do need to credit Rickey with, besides Jackie’s introduction to the major leagues, it’s his introduction of the modern farm system and the batting helmet in regular season games. The man’s responsible for any teams and parks that might be found in smaller cities like my hometown, as well as protecting a player from the nightmare that could be. And that was all before Robinson even made the Negro Leagues! Rickey’s name will be forever synonymous with Jackie Robinson, but I don’t think that he should only be remembered for that.
@@alexmartinez5859 - I disagree that his story wasn't groundbreaking. Yes it was a business decision in part but it was also personal for him. He detested the way blacks were being treated and saw it firsthand when he was coaching the Ohio Wesleyan University team and how black player Charles Thomas was being denied a hotel room with the rest of the team and vowed to do something about it when he was in a position to do so and on April 15, 1947, the country saw. Jackie was the right man but without Rickey's encouragement and standing besides him, it would've been someone else and who knows how they may have handled it. So one would not have succeeded without the other. I'm just sick and tired that credit is not given where credit is due and it seems it has to be race based. We have Black History Month. How many white in our nations history, contributed to the advancement of blacks? No man probably greater than Abraham Lincoln but since he's not black, he's not mentioned for being a huge part of blacks history. If Jackie had been alive when JRD was started in 2004, I think he would be the type of man who would say that such an honor should not be bestowed solely on him but that we should honor Branch and the members of his team who helped get us to the point that we are today.
Jackie was an amazing player but time to just play the game, no need to keep honoring Jackie Robinson... probably upset alot of people because they don't really understand what it does to keep doing this! Pretty lame

You would need to understand how hard it is for black ppl to succeed or reach their goals nowadays, once you understand that, multiple it by 50 because in Jackie's era it was even harder. They do this every year in memory of someone that did something huge, just as huge as Americans getting their independence which ppl celebrated every year . .sorry if it hard to understand what I wrote, English is not my first language.
Not just baseball, all sports.
Not just all sports, the nation.
Thank you Jackie.
Society as a whole. We owe the man a lot.
Thank you Jackie, for all that you gave. The world is eternally blessed and grateful for you and we still miss you
