  • So I actually really really liked the DLC, more than base game to be honest. While I do think the p2 of last boss is a bit overkill, I dont think it should ruin the experience of the entire game. Same goes for the few areas that are pretty much empty. I dislike them, but they definitely don't outweigh the other areas. Its not too hard, its not unfair, and its definitely the best DLC thats ever been made.

I’m happy to hear you thought the map/overworld was ‘empty’. In The Lands Between I found caverns, side areas and secrets but in the Land of Shadow I definitely missed the exploration aspect Elden Ring previously provided.
Still love it though! A minor complaint considering everything still feels impactful

I agree with most things said in this video. The DLC as a whole was very engaging and challenging, addressing the main complaint people had about the base game being too easy. Like you, the only part that I felt was truly absurd is Radahn's second phase. Phase 1 was very fun to learn and, after enough practice, I could eventually dodge everything. But holy shit dude, phase 2 is truly absurd with the amount of damage he can put out. Even at blessing level 18 and nearly 80% holy resist, he was still chunking my hp in only a couple of hits. I was able to beat him eventually, but it just wasn't very fun.

I had a pretty different experience with exploration of the DLC, but I'm also a big lore guy and those big areas with not a lot of stuff had a TON of lore implications.
I also think they could have done a slightly better job if explaing scadutree fragments, but I really like them as a mechanic. One of the problems with fromsoft dlc's is how to scale difficulty. Players with their overleved perfected builds could run all over them, and if you scaled difficulty for them it would make the game almost impossible for lower leveled players. The fragments added a cool way to level the playing field for everyone and then you could choose how many of them you wanted to get from there.

Looking forward to the guide! I still go back to your arrow analysis video from a couple years ago whenever I'm doing a bow run, like recently for the dlc. That video is a godsend.
Would love to see you possibly break down the new throwables you liked as well, since you mentioned using some of them.

even before the scadutree fragment buff, if you could beat mesmer you can beat pretty much everyone pretty easily (Since imo they're easier than mesmer), only boss I think was really the hardest was the final boss

DLC isn't too hard, and you're right about being able to make it easier.
I think the mentality people have needs to switch, meaning people need to get over certain levels of pride and admit that they need to make a change somewhere.
Back in base game like week one or two. I had to fight Melania, and I was in love with the Ghiza wheel. Colossals were terrible, and Ghiza especially hadnt been buffed. She outpaced me in every conceivable way. So, I changed builds a bit and learned her patterns and now I cam beat her with anything and im confident in saying that.

The only thing that is too hard is Radahn phase 2. It is inexcusable. That aside, no other fight was so hard that it fell out of line of what should be an expected level of challenge

    • @Raptchur
      @Raptchur 5 днів тому

Yeah agree. And i'm guessing a lot of the ppl saying it's too hard are PvP'ers that stay at low levels like 100 or 125. And they just want the new stuff as soon as possible. Imo if you were saying it's too hard, you just straight up were not getting or using the fragments.

@@sladevalen2120 If like the OP said, you can swallow your pride. You can cheese Radahn very easily. I only had to fight him once and was honestly surprised how easy it was. Giant shield with blood infused antspur rapier. Trivialized the fight.

I don’t know if it was really the scadutrees that made the difference on those bosses you beat easily. For me it felt like messmer, gaius and radahn’s difficulty were well above the rest
Also the hard mode redahn is insane. Summons are supposed to be easy mode! He feels a bit overturned tbh. And gaius has some hitbox issues

The DLC feels like it was designed with the stronger than average builds as it's baseline. Many of the same cheese strategies still work, like massive damage stacking or as you said, negation stacking, but i think my favorite part about the DLC bosses are the small windows that you get to actually execute them.
Buffs/debuffs ran out and the boss is still alive? Time to put the pants on because you're definitely not getting the space for those again.
The one thing that this DLC did teach me was that Thrusting Shields are absolutely busted though.

I don't think I've heard a single person say that radahn was reasonable lol it does not feel like can use what you want for it it took me 43 tries and I felt every single one I ended up using warming stones for healing lol

Love the game. But yeah i agree on the scadutree fragments. I think they greatly hurt replayability. I have a few characters and honestly i'm just not too excited to have to go find them all again.
Spiribirds in Rise never bothered me but now i can kinda see where the complainers are coming from. (i say kinda because the complaint was always "we used to just be able to eat for the health boost". idk how they somehow forgot you had to slot in 3 in Vitality...) That being said, scadutree fragments are on a much larger scale.

Ultrawide is so good for singleplayer games it's not even close. Witcher 3 , Cyberpunk or even stuff like GTA is so cinematic on Ultrawide plus you can watch most 21:9 movies without black bars. I can only recommend one since it's been so great playing games on one.

I am glad that you can see the potential in the final boss. For me, I think he's perfect for me already, but I'm not a no-hit runner person and I just want a challenge that taxes my whole brain while feeling beatable and something I can learn and adjust to, and Radahn was already my favorite character with favorite theme anyway and I was a huge fan of Miquella's lore so it was kind of all a perfect match made in heaven for me, and I'm glad I beat it before even the Scadutree fragment buff, and that can never be taken away even if they nerf him, but I do hope he is slightly toned back just a bit for most people, even if it means I might not be able to enjoy the fight as much as I do right now, because I would rather more people feel the same level of love for that fight as I do when there's clearly just like a few relatively minor issues that could be adjusted because the fight is already perfectly learnable and makes sense, it's just it has an extremely high skill floor that might be above the skill ceiling of other players. I just don't want a huge nerf to hit him like how some of the bosses in Lies of P got.
