Welcome to the brand new TLD Interloper series (as promised). The ULTIMATE survival challenge has begun! Will I die? YES! Should be super-fun!!
(This is version 2.0 because UA-cam screwed up S1E1 the last time I started this series. Luckily we were only 2 episodes in when this occurred, but I had to start from scratch...this is the result. ENJOY!)
Interloper is the hardest mode in Sandbox mode (The other difficulties are Pilgrim, Voyager and Stalker). The game describes that this mode is "For expert players looking for the ultimate wilderness Survival challenge."
In Interloper difficulty, you start with the most minimal resources, supplies are very scarce and Wildlife is rare, but it is more dangerous

Let's Play The Long Dark is a thoughtful, exploration-survival experience that challenges solo players to think for themselves as they explore an expansive frozen wilderness in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster. There are no zombies -- only you, the cold, and all the threats Mother Nature can muster.

The Long Dark Interloper Facts:
Interloper was a new game difficulty, introduced in v.364.
The world becomes more hostile to you as you play. Global temperature drops, wildlife and fuel resources become more scarce, and Blizzards become more frequent.
Apart from the Hacksaw and Hammer, which spawn rarely in the world, you need to create all your own improvised tools (ex. Hatchets, Knives, etc.).
The best Clothing and Food items do not spawn.
Wolves are more rare, but also more deadly.
Wildlife becomes more rare over time.
There are no Rifles in the world.
The picture that represents this mode is the skull.

TLD's History:
Let's Play The Long Dark is a first-person survival video game developed and published by Hinterland Studio. The player assumes the role of a crash-landed bush pilot who must survive the frigid Canadian wilderness after a global disaster. The game received seed financing from the Canada Media Fund, and further funding was secured through a successful Kickstarter campaign in October 2013.
An alpha version was released through Steam Early Access in September 2014. The alpha version was later launched on the Xbox One as one of the first two launch titles associated with Microsoft's Game Preview Program in June 2015. Early reviews of the alpha release were generally positive, and the game went on to sell around 750,000 copies by April 2016. It was officially released on all aforementioned platforms on August 1, 2017, as well as for PlayStation 4.

For some reason UA-cam is taking FOREVER to render the HD resolutions of this video. So for those of you stuck at 360p still, my apologizes, but this is a YT problem. My next video that I haven't published yet is already rendered by YT at 1440p...go figure. :(
Still 360P... YT has something really weird going on lately. It's almost like they don't want to keep users.
I only watch in 360p anyway.
@Justin O'Brien Ditto. I"ve got Ethernet direct to the "Routem" and good computer, but 1080 just doesn't run smooth. Glad you pinned that comment, It barely took me 10 seconds to be like "why does this video quality look wierd? why is 320 the only res. option?]
Joseph Cota What even more weird is my next video (Ep 12) was rendered with the was recorded during the same gaming session, with the same render settings, and was uploaded (private) immediately following this episode and is already in 1440p. (Ep 12 is scheduled to release Sun at noon eastern btw)

@@Accurize2 I bet YT wonders why so many gamers are switching to twitch and just streaming their sessions rather than dealing with trying to get uploads to work properly. Speaking of which, any upcoming twitch streams scheduled Sgt? Would love to see some more Stranded Deep or Breatheedge. The jaws theme for notifications was perfect for some really awesome laughs.

Quality tools and simple tools do the same thing. Quality tools are less weight and lose condition slower. Even though the game says quality tools either will work

Acc, you are correct in wanting to consolidate your supplies. Between the four locations you have things you could be much better equipped, but they are all spread.
If your goal was to play this one a little handicapped, then ignore me. It is your play through.
I think that is why I don't put my play throughs online. Armchair quarterbacks always see things when they are the one making the decisions!
Why are you passing time in bed when you have daylight, a hatchet and a bunch of furniture to smash up? Like you said, you're low on fuel and water.

You can directly select a torch from the radial menu if pressed for time instead of shuffling through all light sources. BTW, love your channel! 👍

Why don't people use the lodge at Mountain Lake as home base? There's fishing, rabbits, and a deer all within a couple hundred yards. Not to mention two indoor stoves and an indoor work bench.

Oh, also, is it my imagination or when you were patching clothes, did it look like you didn't have some of those clothes equipped? I thought the triangles in the top corner indicated the clothes were on you and it looked like some stuff (scarf, sweatshirt, etc.) was not on your body?

Quick question for you or other LD players: Does wind direction effect how easily your scent can be picked up ? Would make sense if being downwind from predator or prey played to your advantage.
Yes, wind effects where your scent goes.
Just an idea...to pass time, why not break down those torches into the sticks you need? There may be a drawback to that that outweighs the benefit that I'm not thinking of, though.

I feel like...in a game like this where...a single missed item laying on the ground could mean like 8kilos of dear meat, or...starvation, that having your loyal viewers notify you of your oversights, CAN be handy. but too many would totally be frustrating. Makes me wonder if pinning or upvoting comments such as that would be a viable "deterrant" I might read ten or so comments, but not ALL of them, especially on old videos to confirm whether my advice is not already listed. *shrugs* just brain storming. Keep on Keeping on.
Also the last time I played, I was able to use the simple tools kit to fix my tools and then I would use quality tools kit to fix the simple tool kit.

I notice you always use the radial menu to drop a decoy; you can just press 3. When I encounter a wolf and I don't feel like fleeing, my muscle memory just automatically goes 3, 2 - drop decoy, draw bow
Drew Colcher They switched it up a while back, it was a different number. So rather than trying to keep up with the changes I just started using the radial wheel.
Is there any mechanic for Wolves "learning" not to fear fire? or is that just the most epic way of harvesting an entire deer? [and if you had bow and arrow, could have totally harvested the wolf too!
Do you need quality tools to craft the bow? I thought you just needed a knife or Hatchet
Rhuark K If I said “bow” I meant “to repair the hacksaw”. You’re correct about not needing them to craft the bow.

About face, a 90 degree left??? I think those are two different things.
If you're talking about facing movements, an About Face is a 180-degree turn on the spot. Left or Right Face are 90 degree turns in their respective directions. There are also Half-Right and Half-Left, which are 45 degrees in their respective directions.

Food above 20% is preety save (max 3% risk of food posionning). Dangerous are: raw meat (50% risk) and low condition

Sooooo, knife and axe "lifespan." Does a blade last for as long as you have whet stones to keep it honed? And when the whet stones are gone, your knife will soon follow? [can a whet stone be crafted?]

the best thing to do in interloper is be the hunter not the hunted go and kill the wolfs and leave the body with something on it so the wolf doesn't respond as fast what i do is just have raw meat go out on the ice and build a fire and wait then start killing but u need 3 raw meats or guts in pv i killed 14 wolf in one day by the house and barn going back and forth
