We looked at these before buying a new Lusso 2 last year...Coachman has a safe to hide all your stuff from the wife and USB in the bedroom lights to charge electronuc thingys. A sure fire deal clincher. The L shaped lounge is fantastic for the 2 of us now that our 15 yr old daughter wouldn't be seen sleeping ever again in a tin can (think this was due to our previous Bailey Jive 570/6). With front bench sleeping with slats every time you turned over during the night a knee would go through the slats meaning having to re position the slats taking ages at 2am and then make the bed again aside from the person nearest the front window having to climb over the other person when going to and from the loo during the night. Solved the slat ussue with some plywood and a piano hinge but awkward to store and position over the slats every night when making the bed....none of this with the Lusso! Also the Coachman fridge opens from the left when my partner wants a drink while watching the TV while connected to the inbuilt WiFi and I can get a drink opening it from the left when I fancy yet another beer in the early hours. Self levelling on the Lusso is awesome for lazy barstewards lile me as is the external water shower for cleaning my wellies after a long day pony trekking. When we took it on a 340 mile trip to Dorset on its 1st outing last summer the A/C was an absolute must when temps in the caravan were in the 40s without it switched on.Also helped by the iNet phone and text air con /heating /hor water/ a/c unit lighting control to turn on the A/C before getting back. The view of Sandbanks was great from the boat trip on from Poole harbour too but didnt see Harry Redknapp from the boat although the firework display more than made up for it. Thumbs up Mark...a name so good even my mother called me it too. BTW...when I ordered a Lusso 2 in Feb last year one swaying factor was the delivery date by Coachman which was the best from the manufacturers we had shortened it to at the time (shortage of parts etc problems throughout the industry so much so Compass for example werent even releasing any new caravans at the time)...6 months was Coachmans ETA. A month before the July delivery date I rang the dealer for an ETA update and the only thing with a delay was the fabric. Coachman were contacted and they got the upholstery manufacturer to prioritise our van even going to Coachmans factory in Hull to supply and fit the upholstery rather than just ship it to Coachman meaning the van was only delayed by 1 week. Coachman evertime for me for all of the above reasons.
I have a Coachman VIP 575. But I would like the Lusso due to the lounge layout and the larger shower. Don’t know if I could justify the price difference though.
Both lovely Mark. My wife and I would go Bessacar, because we like the long lounging cushions, and the ‘lighter and airier’ feel. It’s also more traditional, which we like being that much older, but I can see younger people preferring the Coachman. The price difference would also sway us. Thanks for all your videos 😀👍
Paying the sort of money coachman expect for the Lusso I wouldn't be happy with what I gather would be a fabric consortia door between kitchen and bedroom. On that fact alone me personally I would go with the bessecarr but what surprises me most is that neither van from what I could see have A/C fitted and at their price I would expect it. Like all vans it's all about compromise as opposed to which is better. Once upon a time people would choose a van on the construction so avoiding the dreaded fear of damp but in the last 4 years or so those fears have gone because of the construction and layout and weight certainly in my eyes seems to be the criteria.
Lusso has aircon as one of the manny std features which was needed last year in over 40"C temps in the caravan...had people from neighbouring vans and tents coming in to cool off. It also has a heater built in too.
The Coachman looks a little more of a premium van but there's a couple of niggles about the layout (not just for Coachman). The trouble with wraparound seating is that there's nowhere safe to put your tea and coffee etc or breakfast for that matter. It's a bind having to haul the table out every time. The second point is that I'm not a fan of concertina doors. They're flimsy, sometimes difficult to close and easily pushed open by pets. I'm amazed someone hasn't come up with a better design for an open plan layouts like these. The Swift's layout with it's mid bathroom (one of the biggest on the market) is the better choice in my opinion. Also, they bed doesn't have (or need) a day mode so storage is much better.
Coachman aluminum, easily dented, and still timber in the construction. Swift , grp , not easy to damage and only timber in the van is the upper floor.
Bessacarr for me. It looks and feels lighter and brighter in the lounge area. And the separate space for privacy with the rear bedroom is great. The coachman may look a bit more contemporary and modern and i very much like the L shaped kitchen space instead of the flap on the end of worktop. But it looks a darker space throughout the van and that sink in the bathroom if you can call it a sink. Is as much use as a chocolate teapot.
Not sure I could go for eiter unless i won the lottery!! Even then i would be scared i was going to crease the seats if i sat down!! Camping shouldnt be like that!! On these vans It is spending money for spending sake. Best to buy something a lot cheaper then use the saved money to use it more often. Just think you can buy two new vans for the price of one of these second hand vans. All that said, there must be a market for them otherwise they wouldn't have been built. Although to return to the market place so soon the original owners werent impressed!!
We kept our brand new 2022 coachman laser 11 months. The L shaped lounge meant there was never anywhere to put something down like a drink and if you did it was behind you. As for build quality dont get me started!! Needless to say it wasn’t the premium product we expected😡
It just seamed as it was thrown together without care. Toilet door handles fell off (both sides) on first trip due to grub screws not tightened. All screw caps on shower door broken or missing , internal spot light not working on 2nd trip etc etc , the list goes on . Ok they were sorted under warrenty but thats not the point. Second hand it would be expected but this was a brand new £39k caravan. Unacceptable.
Build quality and comfort is awesome on the Lusso...get the foldable table out for your drinks...that's what it's for or use one of the 2 shelves on the nearside or front or the worktop (whether extended or not) to store all the drinks you want near at hand.
Coachman looks more striking but how can you justify the extra cash. So just because of that I'd go for the bessacarr. Also I'm sure a 2021 lusso retailed at £40495. Amazing how they hold their price.
They were about that, but as the 23/24 are now over £51k it pulled the used values up with them. Same as all the used caravans. I don't think we are going to see such price rises again and will move back to the normal 3-5% price increase on new models. 👍
Coachman hands down for me. Although I really don't like the consatina privacy blinds they put in all these mid bedroom vans. Why can't they put in a solid sliding door. My old bailey pageant had a sliding door in the middle. Currently looking for a new van and it's giving my arse a headache as there's a compromise with every layout.
Disagree coachman quality is poor having had a 2019 675 laser from new didn't live up to our expectations of them being a high brand, our 2015 elegance 570 leaves it standing.
@@barryelstone2992 sorry about that but we had a three year old coachman for three years an only change a light bulb. Had the dealer special swift three months and had nothing but murder with it. Asked people in the storage for help with problems an there reply was “welcome to swift….. you won’t have another one” paid 15k for the coachman an traded it in at got £13200. Paid 20k for the swift an spent nearly £1000 on it (which still not 100%) an after a year got offered £15600 for it. Wouldn’t have a swift if it was for free, that’s just my opinion anyway.
Agree Coachman Lusso is by far the best van we have owned. Lovely thick deep pile carpets , luxurious warmth and the ambient lighting adding to tje luxury feel. Aircon a must in last summer over 45"C temps , an outside shower to wash your wellies
Mate, why don’t you mention the biggie, your Bessacarr has no wood or the fact it has glass fibre sides won’t dent, the roofs also hail proof it’s much easier to repair than Alloy sided or conventional vans, Worth a word i think the vans are a totally different build Quality.
£41k to have your friends/guests cutting through your bedroom in the night to use the washroom? Makes you wonder if the designers have ever been away in a caravan…
Coachman definitely wins on looks BUT once you've actually lived with an L shape lounge, trust me, you'll hate it. Bed next to the cooker! No thanks. No separation or privacy in the bedroom, not good. Has to be the Bessacarr/Swift for me.
Bessacarr for me, the wash basin in the Coachman has to be the cheapest moulding I’ve ever seen in a Caravan. Double skinned in this model, white in lesser models.
Well, 2 Dogs, Sticky fingered Granddaughter, muddy fields , crayons, let’s face it these aren’t made for Camping, Underfloor Heating !!! And those Fridges, I bet they don’t run on Gas alone, they’re a luxury Hotel Room on wheels, I’ll stick with convention thanks😂
And did you know that “Besser Car” is actually a mix of German and English that means “(the) better car(aravan)”? Choice already made 😉 PS: That’s meant to be a JOKE!
Bessacarr all the way. The Coachman is all bling and no substance. I love Coachman but actually hate the Lusso. It makes me think its just a gimick van.
Coachman all the way, lovely modern looking van.
coachman by far , love the lounge set up . End bathroom is simpler to our coachman which is a bit cumbersome at time's owing to space ..
Coachman all the way for me steels the show in my eyes

I'm Also A Lazy Barsteward But Very Happy With Our Acadia Design edition from Highbridge, yes Had A Few Niggles But Ok Now!😎🍷
Definitely the coachman…going to PX my Autosleeper Broadway EB 2013 with one😀
Oh my word, what a choice! I love them both!
Both lovely 👍
I have a Coachman VIP 575. But I would like the Lusso due to the lounge layout and the larger shower.

I like the Bessacar think my hubby would struggle to get his knees in , in the Coachman

No question about it COACHMAN every time.
Thanks Colin
Nice haircut Mark 😉 good review of the two, I’m indecisive 🤔
Coachman as looking to live in one this will do nicely

I'd have either. Just waiting on my lottery lucky dip tonight on set for life.
Thanks Trevor
Coachman aluminum, easily dented, and still timber in the construction.

I like the decor of Coachman BUT cooker next to the bed 😮 hmmm, not sure about that.
Never knew this would be a problem. There's a dividing wall between the cooker and bed and we tend not to cook during the night
As I told the Step Dad the Coachman is the Rolls Royce of caravans so he bought one and I stand by that statement
Thanks Bryan
got to be the coachman
Bessacarr for me. It looks and feels lighter and brighter in the lounge area. Nice haircut, Mark 😉
🤣 Thanks Tom
Both great vans hard one coachman??
The Swift for me definitely
Coachman for me you also get an extractor fan
The Bessacarr has the small extractor too, I forgot it lol
Both nice, i build tiny homes i think id prefer a van than one, especialy at half the price.
Coachman for me as I have an older model, and they seem to be better built……..
Thanks Carol

I wouldn’t have either as I would not tow a van that wide. Loved towing the normal width caravan.
Never been a problem and didn't even realise it is...I've always been told a few extra inches is better.
End bathroom wins every time😘. USB in spotlights equals trailing leads😢.
We kept our brand new 2022
coachman laser 11 months. The L shaped lounge meant there was never anywhere to put something down like a drink and if you did it was behind you. As for build quality dont get me started!! Needless to say it wasn’t the premium product we expected😡
Oh no, not good, I think some vans produced during covid have had a few problems.
I agree standard of build is poor
Build quality and comfort is awesome on the Lusso...get the foldable table out for your drinks...that's what it's for or use one of the 2 shelves on the nearside or front or the worktop (whether extended or not) to store all the drinks you want near at hand.
@@M..R.... that would be the table held in its storage cupboard by the glued on runners that fell off when the caravan warmed up then !! ……….
In the coachman the kitchen oven is to close to the bedroom for my likeing .
It's seperated by a wall even for those who like cooking during the night
We never use oven in ten years caravaning
We prefer the Bessecar central bathroom area because if the privacy it gives, if you have someone else staying with you.
Coachman but with centre wash room!
Coachman looks more striking but how can you justify the extra cash. So just because of that I'd go for the bessacarr. Also I'm sure a 2021 lusso retailed at £40495. Amazing how they hold their price.

How does the underfloor heating work, does it work with the Alde heating system
Yes from the Alde 👍
Mark obviously the Coachman at the Bessacarr price.
Coach looks best, but looks aren’t always the best, we need a few videos on build qualities of different vans
Noted!
A sliding door isn't possible as it slides across the van in an S shape so isn't straight like a wooden partition would be.
@M..R.... yeah I get that, just wish they'd design it so it has a sliding door.
Coachman all day long 👍 after owning a coachman then going to a new swift I miss the quality of a coachman.
Thanks Carl

we looked at the coachman, didn't like the fact that you cooked next to the bed!!
It's seperated by a wall even for those who like to cook during the night
Both lovely caravans I think
I would go bessacarr for the value side of things. What’s the weight of each one Mark ?
Both about 2000kg.
Bessacarr all the way for me.
Having had both brands Bessacar being a swift build I'd pick the swift.
Thanks Barry.
Coachman for me every time plus quality build after having our swift I would not buy another
Thanks Paul
If Coachman did the Lusso with a rear bed then maybe, otherwise I'll stick with the Bessacarr
My thoughts too. The Coachman design is bang on trend but I’m not a fan of the bed being so close to the cooker.

Our Besser Car is a Hyundai Santa Fe to tow the better Coachman caravan
Don’t think the Coachman is worth the extra money
Thanks Ann

Can’t believe you put your feet on the sofa in a £40k van, my Mrs would have killed ya
🤣🤣
neither our porto grande knocks spots off both of them as for the coachman bed no thanks totally in the wrong place so is the price
Ohhh a curve ball 👍
dont like either of them :P
Can't win them all lol
