Luv it. Im hopefully purchasing a cayman this weekend (2/25/2023) after seeing the price of $750 on the hp website, i think I'll make 1 myself. Should be a piece of cake, & cost around $150. Buy a small sheet of 1/2 thick shatterproof plexiglass, cut & or have it cut to fit using the oem cover as a template, either tint or leave clear with led's under it, use a piece of 1/2" u shaped rubber trim around the edge, & get the the fastener set up at home depot. It wasn't cheap, and it's not a terribly complex piece...but they designed the compound curves perfectly (the most difficult part of a DIY version) and it was drop in easy.
I just installed one (different brand) and I agree....a great style accent touch for the Cayman.Mine did not require those front standoffs. The glass was molded differently. My kit did not include the suction cups but it was not difficult to carry it in and lay it in place. My kit also included a thick high density foam surround which on top of it layed a custom carpet piece that hid the edges. Manufacturer matched the stock carpet color using Lloyd's (the car mat guys) to make up the carpet piece. Don't forget to clean the inside of the glass before installing so the great job detailing the engine shows. Nice video. Installed mine complete after unpacking in less than 15 minutes.
Hi Larry, I saw that brand as well. I chose the HIP because I didn't care for the carpet accents on the other, but that is simply personal preference. Either way, the change in the car is dramatic and instantly turns it into a conversation piece. Enjoy that Cayman!

Marc Saegaert There's definitely more sound, mechanical. I can hear the fuel injectors and especially the air intake behind my head. It's louder, but not in a bad way...not to me at least!
Hi John, question for you. I installed the glass cover and its tight but I can smell when the motor is running, any suggestion I can do? did you experience similar problem? Thanks
Interesting... I have not experienced anything like that. What are you smelling? Exhaust? Obviously, make sure everything is sealed up: the lower tabs need to be seated and double check the foam rubber gasket. Let me know what you find.
Great questions. I've noticed zero additional heat from the mod and I live in North Carolina where it gets hot and humid. The sound is definitely louder. It's mechanical: you can hear the fuel pump, the lifters, the belts... I don't mind it but for folks who want a silent vehicle this will not make them happy. Personally, I wish my exhaust was more pronounced. That's another mod for another time.

Hi Chris, I did one but it wasn't very clear. I'll say it's definitely louder...but it's the mechanical sound, not an exhaust note type sound. You hear the injectors, the belts, the rotation of the engine. I like it because it's visceral, but it's not for everyone I'm sure. I also have an intake so that sound is amplified too, but I love that gulping air sound! Ok, no difference with the glass cover, but I don't have a Cayman yet, I would like to know whether the cabin is warm if the car is not moving, like traffic jam, the engine is right inside the car, I believe it will be some heat, but how hot is it? Is the aircon cold enough in summer? The Cayman is unlike the MR2 or Lotus Elise where the engine is outside, so it is much cooler inside the cabin than I believe the Cayman.
I often wondered why this car doesn't COME this way. A wide open always display. Yeah! What could it have possibly cost the company?! Motor Appreciation #101
I agree, the looks are fantastic. To be able to show off the engine is great...the drawbacks are that it's open to the road beneath, so the engine does get dusty and needs to be cleaned occasionally, plus the extra in-cabin noise would deter some folks. Not me, though!
Presumably something to do with reduced storage space. You’re not going to have stuff scratching it up. Plus all the breather tubes etc aren’t exactly pretty

Great questions. I have had NO difference in cabin heat at all. There is more sound inside the car; you can tell there's an engine behind you now with an increase in the mechanical sounds: intake, fuel injectors & the belt. But no, absolutely no difference in heat.
There is no heat issue in any Cayman. The factory cover is very thick and insulated.
Ok, thanks.
What site could I order this engine cover at?

SO SICK
Has the noise level increased?
Yes, you're hearing the engine more. A mechanical sound, the injectors and definitely the air intake.
How much ? And where to buy ?
Tommy Harutyunyan Check the other comments, I have links posted.
How does it handle the heat vs stock. Any noticeable increase in cabin temps? In live in the Phoenix area. Enjoy the channel.
Evan Pridham Hi Evan, I've noticed no additional heat at all.
Simple math, 6>4..🤔😜
Like the clear cover..looking good!
Nice , hows the noise compared to stock ?
Read the notes below, we discuss it at length. If you're worried about noise this may not be the mod for you.
the stock engine isn't show offy though.
True, that's why I'll eventually paint those intake runners. I've seen it done nicely on some other cars.
Sick!
That is sweet

It's got to add at least 25 HP.
I wish you had said 987S.
It is a 987 S.
