We Bought A Used Canoe! - Northern Algonquin Canoe Trip: Part 1

  • We bought a used #Swift Prospector 16 at the Georgian Bay Swift store on our way up to the far north of #Algonquin Provincial Park! In part 1, I showcase the canoe and put it to the test on our way to North Tea Lake. We also set up camp on a GORGEOUS campsite with a 180 degree view over North Tea Lake.
    Launching out of Kawawaymog Lake and headed east, it was an easy ~3 hour paddle with only two small portages; a great option for someone looking to relax while experiencing what Algonquin Park has to offer!
    I also show some Canadian style paddling, an awesome solo technique in which you can showcase your skills. Heeling the canoe at an extreme angle to increase the rocker of the canoe, you can really dig in deep with your paddle while the canoe provides excellent feedback for each minute change of #paddling technique. Though I would not suggest this on extremely windy or wavy lakes, it's really fun to practice some advanced canoe paddling techniques on some calm water, or it's a great way to paddle through winding rivers solo.
    You can also apply many of the techniques used in Canadian style canoe paddling to tandem paddling; first practicing Canadian style to feel how each stroke affects the canoe, then applying that knowledge to tandem paddling whether you are in the bow or the stern.
    ...
    If you are in the market for a canoe, or a kayak for that matter, I highly suggest checking out what Swift has to offer. Canadian made, they have been tried and tested, through the help of Algonquin Outfitters, with their massive rental fleet. In my opinion, there's no better way to test the quality and durability of a canoe than that!
    www.swiftcanoe.com/
    If you'd just like to test a Swift canoe, Algonquin Outfitters has a massive selection to choose from. You can rent the model you desire and they will even deliver it to a few access points. They will even rent you any and all gear you'd need to go on your very own backcountry adventure into Algonquin Park!

      Hey who knows haha. It is beautifully crafted, paddles and portages like a dream, but we'll see as the years go on. Wouldn't be able to afford this thing full price for sure lol.

    Hey, great video. Very intriguing content. You should try to connect with Doug Outside on UA-cam. He’s from Ontario too and does very well for himself. My wife is friends with his daughter. But yours and his videos are very similar. Doing a collab video would do you greatly

    • @StefOutside
      @StefOutside  6 років тому +1

      Man, that would be AWESOME! I love Doug's videos, he's actually a huge part of why I started to do this UA-cam thing in the first place. I actually didn't even think about how similar my channel name was to his until it was too late (I was going for a 'step outside/get outside' kinda thing, a co-worker suggested it.) I'd honestly be honoured if Doug even so much as watched one of my videos, I'd just feel awkward trying to promote my own content to him; I'm sure he gets a lot of people doing that every day, being a big channel and all. Maybe he'll notice me one day haha... Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it! 👍
