  • Fancy Lines Love Them or Hate Them Haulover Inlet Boats
Haulover Inlet is a man-made channel in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It connects the northern end of Biscayne Bay with the Atlantic Ocean. The inlet was cut in 1925 through a narrow point in the sand between the cities of Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles.
The inlet entrance channel is 400 feet wide and 14 feet deep. It's dangerous to navigate because it features:
    Sandbars
    Rock walls
    Strong tide currents
    Gusty onshore winds
There is no speed limit at Haulover Inlet.

    Beautiful vessels.
I’m really surprised there aren’t more accidents running Haulover.
    Stay Safe.

All these late 1800's and early 1900's hull designs making a comeback is a bit counter-intuitive, but some do have beautiful lines and are cool to look at. But, there's a reason why they went the way of the DoDo Bird all those decades ago. Boat and shipbuilders came up with massively better, and more efficient, hull designes. But, I gotta say, all the Teak, Mahogany, Walnut, Redwood, Oak, Wormy Chesnut, and other types of wood returning to the fold looks friggin awesome. And, if I'm dropping a cool million or more dollars on a boat, it'd better be able to hit triple digits. Going 100mph on a highway feels like 50mph in a lot of these newer vehicles...dare I say, that it's borderline boring. But, try it on the water and it's a whole other animal. Been in a few bass boats that cracked triple digits several times. Talk about an adrenaline rush. Fun as hell.
