This comparison helps enormously. The lower elbow position means the hand is coming from a wider position. A bit like running with arms swinging out in an inefficient way. It also means there is more rotation of the body to assist with reach and power efficiency in pulling back.

There is something that you may not realize that a n experienced swimming teacher taught me is that there is swing from the elbow inwards so while it looks like its going up and down your swinging your arm from the elbow towards the inside and your hand is shooting forward like your trying to spear a shark :-)
Why is it crucial for a powerfilull stroke, if, for example, after a elevated right elbow, the right hand rests still waiting for the left hand to make its stroke, before the right hand makes another powerfull stroke?!?! Please, clarify why is it crucial!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Its because other arm is directly below. Need both arms to be directly opposite of each other for maximum efficiency. Dont look at high elbow or any technique by itself. Think of its effect on entire flow of swimming.
Dobrze pokazana.
powerful stroke but does it equal to better posture and shoulder pressure? I rather do the stroke with least dmg to body instead of a powerful stroke. High elbow seems to do the opposite
It will depend on your shoulder mobility, obviously don't do high elbow at the detriment to your health, but if you don't have the mobility you typically won't be able to maintain a high elbow anyway.
a high elbow above the water is not as imp (it's the recovery phase) as is the high elbow catch and then the pull (using ones lats) this advice of high elbow in this and all other such videos is v misleading ..
@GaladaDur v good Q. once a full arm extension is achieved, and you are ready for the catch phase, begin by an early vertical forearm, where your goal should be shoulder above the elbow above the forearm. Like trying to move ahead horizontally using the elbow as a hinge (say on a horizontal laddar). During the pull phase(once catch phase is over) try to engage your lat muscles to use pull water back.
elbow position in recovery phase should not be "crucial" though this is mentioned by many many youtube video, but no one explains why - I am interpreting that this naturally happens if you have good joint flexibility with your shoulders and elbows -
This might be good for stroke efficiency, but it stresses the rotator cuff. Please do some more research before following this advice. Beautiful video, great editing and two great swimmers does not make it good advice.
Pointless video unless you explain the 'why' and drills to achieve 'how'. Simply showing the outcome for a swimmer trying to learn does not bridge the gap for competence, nor confidence.
Great. Thank you!!!
Love this short, super specific close ups!!

Amei estes vídeos. Eu estava precisando
Total immersion changed my (swimming) life. I went from looking for a triathlon with a 25m swim to an Ironman finisher in just a couple of years.

Really difficult if you're an older swimmer with reduced shoulder mobility.
Thanks ❤
I need to learn this
The most important thing in All strocke should to close the finger.
Great advise
no sé cómo se hace ese giro. 😢.

Is high elbow out of water important?
Yes
Both swimmers on a video swim with the same speed. How is it, if 2nd does't have efficient and powerful strokes?

Why is it so crucial? How does it help? Why is the low elbow incorrect?
Nothing is less important than the elbows height during recovery.
Good
Nice thank you

the pull (using ones lats) ... what does it mean? could you explain more on this please, thank you x

Is t it also you get as much shoulder above water line with your chest vertical which both create less drag?
But then you got a record holder in Pan Zhanle that does the “incorrect” way but broke records😅

Nonsense, Pan Zhanle world record on freestyle keeps his elbows as close to the water as possible

Yoo😅🎉😅🎉😅🎉🎉😅🎉
Can cause shoulder damage
Why😊
Why its better? I dont understand
🥰🥰🥰
Awesome, but
When I should breath...
Wo ist jetzt der Fehler?
Hmm, left one time put his heand in water near heat 15 cm. Boat person have wrong doing in video.
Yo siento que no avanzo
Cup your hands. We are not webbed.
And why? To my knowledge that isnt very crucial.
Simdi rotasyon calisiyorum
As a swimmer it’s not imp at all

Sooo... this is not true
