I've DIY'd a few maces which, though trial and error, are pretty awesome... but I've recently tried out some Onnit maces, and was blown away. They know what they're doing over there! Great video, great info!
... Great Lakes Giyra has some great maces too for any Canadian viewers.
Agatsu in canada makes good maces . I have a 5kg 20kg and 25kgs buy them . Modeled one solid piece no welds nice finish . Also warranty and priced well .
I decided to give the mace a try. I am really looking forward to seeing your recommendations for mace workouts!
I've been using maces for years. I started off with the onnit mace and moved to a heavier rogue mace. Onnit has some sort of coating that prevents rust whereas the rogue has an aluminum head with an uncoated steel handle... a questionable design... But, I feel as though the macebell shines when you limit cycles to some basic movements. Any variant of the swing (360's, 10 to 2's, golf swings, etc.) really puts a load on core and should girdle stability. I want to try to get into clubs though, because as you mentioned I think the mace is confined to movements that inherently have a shorter lever arm and therefore less force production over time.
Thanks for the great information Mark! You have an awesome channel!
thanks. i'm working to make it better
I love both clubs and maces. I was thinking of doing a similar video on the pluses and minuses of each mace brand I own. I have 2 Onnit and one ADEX and one set for set brand mace. Adex wins the versatility due to the fact you can add weight to it incrementally. I already bought their version of the clubs first so I only needed to buy a handle. The negative to both it and the set for set is the circumference of the handle is slightly less then compared to the Onnit brand. I believe Agatsu sells heavier maces as well (25KG is their highest listed) Thier are a couple brands that I would love to get me hands on Wolf brigade - which are sold under ROGUE, so you know the quality is probably top notch. Immortal Combat has their version called the Battle Hammer (cont)
ill check those out
do it. I'm not a fan of the apex because it makes inverting the mace difficult but its also not common to use them inverted all the time. its great for traditional.
this mark wildman form wildman athletica is also a great show man.
Have you ever trained with a gada? You can make them yourself (cheap) and make them as heavy you would like and customize the length of the weight, If you are a tall person you could use a longer handle.
Yup. My friend has an entire room of custom gadas. I love them. My issue is that I travel a lot, and custom Gadas are extremely difficult to travel.
Could I mention the Wolverson mace for people in Europe? They do a range of mace weights in Kgs (4kg to 10kg). I have a 5kg macebell, the finish is very like the Onnit mace, a dull black finish (anodised?), the shaft looks to be a little thinner and has two knurled sections for grip. I am not connected to the company in any way, just very happy with their product which I use most days. Unfortunately they do not club-bells, just maces and kettlebells. Could you recommend or suggest a good British or European club-bell manufacturer?
I have two maces from Wolverson(5 kg and 10 kg). After a mere one year of home use they still are as good as new
Great! Looking forward to your next videos on maces. I focused on kettlebells this year and just started learning clubbells as a complement to them. Your videos on those are very useful to me 😊 Perhaps I'll get a mace too after getting a hang of the clubbells.
what more do you want to know about clubs
Mark Wildman well actually, double CB exercises focused more on active recovery with lighter weights. Or double CB in general. That would be cool, if it sounds like a nice video to make 🙂
Have you tried the lifex modular steel club and mace. It looks like it would be ideal for someone who travels a lot like yourself.
In normal times, I travel a lot for work and was considering getting one of these.
I have a strongergrip shot-loadable monster mace and I'd like to suggest that you get one and review it.
Interesting idea.
How heavy does it go?
Do you have any experience with Set for Set maces? I am thinking about getting either an Onnit or a Set for Set mace. Also, when will your macebell program get released?
I could be wrong but it looks like Onnit and Set for Set are class leaders, basely solely from what I can tell from hours of trying to research. I ordered a 10 and 15 lb set for set. Onnit were out of stock. Would love Mark's opinion if he has had a chance to try the Set for Set.
Curious of your opinion of the shoulderRoc mace I like the length and ability to plate load.
What weight should I start with mace? I Started clubs with 15lbs and that was fine.
Mark, have you tried TACFIT maces? If so, what do you think of them compared to Onnit's maces?
I’m pretty sure they come from the same supplier. But I could be wrong.
@@MarkWildman they do look very similar
What happened to the mace progamming videos? Are they still in the queue? Cheers.
They are still coming. Everyone is just super pushing for the kb material right now
@@MarkWildman yeah cool I'm digging the KB stuff too!
@@maitias ditto....looking for some sample nerd math on mace
Do a video with the 35
Where is the mace content? Can't find it :(
Is a mace 360 better than a club 360? (Club 360 may not be the correct way to describe the move)
I like club 360 (shield cast) more
If you're an American in the kitchen then what are you in the bathroom?
European! 😁😁😁😁
