It never fails to amaze me the level of disrespect the public has for a soldier posted on duty with her service animal. Regardless of their culture, a drawn Saber makes clear the looming consequence of a challenge to a sentry. It is shameful how these people would actually pet, paw and otherwise interfere with the soldiers duties. Would they pet an armed police man for having a nice beard and expect no reprimand? I applaud these guards for their decorum.
To be fair I would never have thought these were actual soldiers. Truly thought the whole thing was symbolic and just part of the experience. Like if some threat was in process toward the Queen/King I would not be thinking these mounted guards would have any role in protecting her/him... the guards with the guns, the police and the soldiers in fatigues would be who I’d expect in action. Never been to England, not sure how it’s set up at the palace but surely there should be some indication to people that the human and equine officers are in legitimate service and interruption or interference of said service should be barred and that action enforced.
Taking a photo with such a beautiful horse and rider....dressed in ceremonial trimmings is only natural for a tourist...
