I love seeing Norm talk about “antiques” and I can remember having those combos in my 30s. Antique to me is 1970s and older. It is great seeing younger people getting into fishing. I grew up when there were no real electronics to speak of, so fishing or outdoor activities were the only thing I had to do. With so many entertainment options are available, it’s still nice to see fishing is thriving.
Pawn shop: Gives loans with your stuff as collateral, you have a chance to buy it back. Also buys and sells your stuff.
Thrift shop: You donate or sell your stuff to the thrift store. They own and sell; usually for a charity.
Consignment shop: They sell your stuff for you and takes a fee.
Norm: catches good bass during the winter
Me: I fish for 5 hours straight can’t even get a bite

I think most of us are like that, honestly I had a secret pond as a kid that got ruined by people keeping bass. Then another pond in a business park that was tiny and had maybe 20 bass all of which were over 2lbs. I use to go there when I couldn’t catch anything anywhere, but one by one the workers at the furniture delivery 🚚 store would get off work and grab beers and drink the beers leave them all over empty their cooler and fill it with bass. I almost got into a fight with one dude but my dad was with me and stopped me lol it’s irritating because these are gamefish, and the ponds are disgusting and have Algae blooms that can kill you Why eat out of it? Bass doesn’t even taste good from what I hear, go fish salt water or creeks for perch or something
I am mildly surprised he didn't report it. Any time something like this happens that I see I don't avoid it. I'm not a bass fisherman, I'm too far north to have any of much size, but I do have white sturgeon and various salmon. If someone is snagging salmon or is keeping the endangered species it's instantly reported. Same with sturgeon

This is how I know these stores to work:
Pawn shop-you sell them your items and they sell them for more.
Consignment-what Yak was describing.
Thrift-you donate the items and the money they make selling the items goes to a charity.
Norm throws the weirdest fishing lure he can find
Me buys the most expensive lure and catches nothing
Yak pak is describing consignment. Many thrift stores also operate as consignment shops too.
You are absolutely correct, not only that, the safe way is the best way sometimes. You handled that the right way, you never know.

Lol. I wanted that Shimano spinning reel about 10 years ago. The 90's is where I'm from. Love that reel and the Rhino rods were fire 30 years ago. Coming from the same age, you'll never be disappointed with the classic gear. It's what all new products, techniques and baits are based off of. It's where today's good stuff came from. Thanx for the memories bro. I love your channel even tho I don't like or comment on your posts. I should more often.

I would have said something to those people who were keeping the fish, I’ve seen lots of people keep bass and peacock out of some of my favorite spots and is always aggravating. Live bait seems to be there favorite too haha

There's way too many people keeping Bass. Same thing happens in Oregon. Unfortunately we have no catch and release only waters here.

theres a lake in illinois that ur allowed to keep unlimited bass cuz the sheer overpopulation are stunting the bass growth... but that could change this year tho... could have been a 1 year ordeal to properly manage the lake

In my neighborhood pond there are some good bass and some people come and catch the biggest fish and then take them home to eat. Sadness. Especially since it's a catch and release only pond/small lake.
bucket stuffers. they bring a 5 gallon bucket here to sit on and stuff everything they catch in the bucket.
I don't believe in catch & release. I believe in catch & filet & cook & eat.
Times are diff now.. not everyone has money to buy groceries. Fortunately I do. But if I didn't I can say I don't care about rules or laws when comes to feeding my fam

I agree there is catch and release sign for a reason and I do catch and cooks but I take the reasonable size one and I only take one or two and not filling the freezer

Completely understand your frustration. We eat a decent amount of what we catch but #1 we never fish catch and release only places, #2 we rarely even get to go and when we do we don’t catch a whole lot and #3 we rarely catch anything over 2-3 pounds and if we do we definitely don’t keep or eat those.
