The 46s sound quieter. Quieter traction motors. I don't know. When they're gone the system will be less interesting. The best period for the MTA/NYCTA was the 32's-68s and then the 143s. Since the 143s, the 160s, 179s, and now the 211s all are sort of cut from the same cloth opposed to how the 32/38s had a stainless steel redbird look, the 40s had the dramatic slant and huge sign and longer windows, the 42s were beginning to get the countered sides then the 44s/46s had the big change to the interior, curved sides, colorful cupped seats, transverse seats, 75 foot long and a big improvement to quietness/smoothness. Variety was great. The 143s to 211s remind me of modernized 42s. The original interior color of them was a kind of blue. I think they called it aqua. But they weren't so bright inside. The 143s to 211s have that silver in them that make them seem a bit like medical offices. But, they ride pretty nice and that'll be the look for decades as I don't expect the 268s to be much different from the 211s. Probalby more digitized.
I enjoyed that video👍👍
