What do you struggle with most when it comes to journaling? (also don't forget, head to papier.ink/wesley or use my code "WESLEY15" for 15% off your own custom journal!!)
"...when I turned thirty..." That was startling, truly. This is the first video of yours I have ever seen and I would have guessed you were twenty-two. I appreciate your Journaling suggestions and encouragement. I am currently writing in my Sixty-second Journal volume. ✒
I journal because I enjoy it. I love putting pen or pencil to paper and remembering what happened that day. I honestly feel some sort of relief when I journal and it makes me feel accomplished and like there’s something to hold onto from that day instead of going through every day in a blur. It helps me slow down and is also somewhat of a creative outlet.
So most of my hobbies are just plain old journaling. Photographing for the memories, commonplace books, journals, documenting what happened through the day, planning stuff, reflections, sometimes morning pages and creative writing. Everything comes under journalling. lol nice
In journaling , what I struggle with most is always thinking I need to write long entries or I have to start new entries on a new page. I hope to overcome this so I can just write short entries when needed without feeling like I did it wrong. This is a great video, I love the releasing exercise you mentioned, to write down negative things that you want to release, very interesting ☺️ ✍🏻
Great video (the intro ❤)! Thanks to you I went from « I should journal and write pages everyday » to « but I’m already doing it! » via planning and retroplanning, habits/mood tracking, gratitude… I feel better now 😊
ugh...one of my fave topics...I have been journaling since the 5th grade - the corner of my closet in my parents' house is just storage boxes full of notebooks labelled TOP SECRET - and found that unstructured, unprompted reflective journalling worked best for me. when prompted journals/daily gratitude type books got really popular, I tried it and it made me hate the routine and put me on a long journalling hiatus (it felt like homework to me). but I see how my process, or lack thereof, really isn't others' cup of tea! also I need to know how long this intro took, SO AMAZING TALENTED BEAUTIFUL
I actually just started journaling and got a relatively expensive journal because it was pretty but the first entry I wrote in it was to remember that it doesn’t need to be perfect. There is beauty in the chaos and “ugly” parts. I have words crossed out , some pages “formatting” looks objectively bad but I also only use colored pens which makes things fun! This writing is a reflection of me and no matter what it looks like, it is beautiful because it is helping me reflect and grow.
A journal i have is my pinteist. I have a bunch of pinteist boards that fit me in various ways. If i like a quote i put it in the desired board. And sonon
Great video, and like you, I use Day One as well as a paper journal. I enjoy both and sometimes I just put a photo from the day in Day One and that's enough. I also love stationery so also tend to like writing in my paper journal. I do find that typing is much easier however. Thanks for the video.
For me an issue i have with maintaining a journal is i keep thi king i have to journal a specific way because ive been told it will really help me out. I have a disorder called dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder) ive been repeatedly told you should journal cause it will jelp with all your headmates. Ive tried doing this and keeping a journal for each headmate but that was too annoying and i didnt write in it enough. I just gave up. Im thinking if i can change my intentions on what i want to write it will help me be much more consistent. I saw a commonplace journal where you write things like lyrics, quotes, scriptures, or insights that sounds easy enough to do. 😊
Definitely experiment with different kinds of journaling! All it comes down to is deciding what you want to document and figuring out the best medium for that. Good luck!

Totally agree, sometimes too much structure sucks the joy out of it. 😅
