I love how Tom Ellis pulls him back into to the song when he can't believe the lyrics.
He actually was raised by a family of ministers, so I'm sure he believes in it a lot more than you realize.

It´s a song about lost faith, adultery, murder, desire and not finding a way to awaken the true love. But by all of this he still sings this heavenly Songs.
It´s perfect for the once brightest of all Angels, that fallen Deep and lost his faith.
Especially when you look at the series and the character Lucifer, it suited very well.
The real irony: People play this song at Weddings, without looking for the Text. :D

It's not really a religious song, but it is beautiful and spectacularly written. It's about lost faith (agree), disallusionment, sadness, lost passion, lost love, just...loss. I find it beautifully sad but maybe it means something different to everyone. I love the religious imagery; all of those feelings and emotions are also in The Book, so maybe that's why it rings so true. Leonard Cohen was truly a genius.
OML I was unaware that Torrance could sing, of course, I clicked on this video originally after seeing Tom's name on it. I'm so very surprised that Torrance sings!!! He's really good, too!
