@Charles Man Cool! Building wheels is something I havn't tried out yet. But It is a cool craft! And I agree that flat spokes tend to make the weels more unstable in shifting side winds. Unsure how much faster they make the wheels when the wind ahead or from behind.
I've had three sets of ICAN Aero wheels. One for rim, two for disc (three different bikes). I've put thousands of km on all three. They are bulletproof. They have stayed true over their life so far. The braking surface in the rim brake version is still good. I don’t run tubeless, I use Pirelli PZeroRace with TPU tubes, but those are very easy to mount. The hubs are fine. My only complaint, I wish they were slightly wider, like my Elite Carbon 50D. ICAN make good frames too.
I thought they were too good to be true when I ordered mine and was ready to take full advantage of their money back guarantee, but damn...they lived up to the hype. I've taken my Aero 50's offroad, on single track mountain bike trails and on the worst roads in New York City. They're still true and smooth.
Great review. Ride the cheaper version ICAN ALPHA 50mm my self for now 2200 km. And I’m too is really happy with them. If they survive to bunny jump with a 100kg guy on it, they are of really good quality.
I bought the wheelset in Juli 2021. After 1000km ICAN has replaced the Hub. Duration with shipping 3 Month. Now after 4000km the Hub they runs roughtly again
I drove less then 200km on my ICAN 45 Alpha pro and the spokes became so loose I had to stop mid race, the front wheel was flopping around 🤷🏻♂️ The bike on gonna go to service in 2 weeks time and then they will take a look on the wheels.
I was about to pull the plug on elitewheels for my ican frame, but then I started looking into their wheels and saw they had one with dt swiss wheels. I mean, chinese carbon prices with dt swiss quality hubs. So I had to watch this to see if the wheels themselves were good - and I am convinced. :)

@@andip.3003 sad to hear that. With other wheels, Ive gone to the local bike shop and had the bearings changed. Not to expensive and much faster than sending back. But not what you want.
Different tires, especially tubeless, can be very tight to fit over the rim. Especially Continental tires are tough. On my gravel bike i spent a good 3 hours with battered hands and muscles before they were fitted and sat good on the rims. A “bad” combo of rim and tire can be nearly impossible.
I just wish that the build quality was reviewed. By which I mean, were the wheels true and round out of the box? Were they centered? What about spoke tension? Yes, some basic, wheel spesific tools and a truing stand is required, but without considering these things the review has somewhat limited value.
In the unboxing video I look closer at some of the points you mention. But only by eye. My review is more out of the ride experience. But wheel tools is on my list of tools to get. 👍 ua-cam.com/video/u25B9_9Xl78/v-deo.html
I didn’t do any particular testing of the wheels in terms of watt. Butt I’ve checked my data and my rides averaged at 200-240w and i maxed out at about 1100w.
I have a few sets of ICAN wheels. Two have the ICAN D21 hub. Your wheel set has the D01 hub. I cannot find what the difference is between these hubs. It does not seem to impact the price difference on the wheels. Anyone know the difference between D01 and D21 hubs?
@@ThatJohnJohnson 40 or 50 i’d say as it will give you aero benefits without making them to unstable in the cross winds. 👌the weight is not so important when on the flats.
Why does a recreational rider need deep dished wheels of any type? Marketing in the cycling industry is approaching the level of Koolaid the golf industry has had for several decades now. Companies convincing gullible amateurs they need the same equipment as a TDF rider or that the equipment will magically make them loads faster which of course it does not. But gullible fools and status symbol thinking fools abound even in the amateur cycling world. 😀😀
Because they look good? Because you can! There are lots of supporters in the uk that wear Manchester United jerseys that will never play professional football. Should that be frowned upon too? If consumers are happy to buy the type of products that the pros use (albeit much cheaper) and it makes people happy what’s not to like?
What wheels are you riding?
Just stock wheels. Looking to upgrade

@Charles Man I have no accurate way of proofing you wrong. But I choose to believe I’m faster with them. 🫣

Heading for a rim-based version with DT 240 hubs.

Great Video. I have the ICAN Aero 45. I have many problems with my rear Wheel hub. They do not run smoothly but very rough
Thanks. How long have you ridden them?

What's the difficulty of putting tires on and off?

9 velo whells 120 kg rider limit, can you test them, please?
I’ll see what I can do. 👍
How many watts are you putting on them in testing on average? How do they feel in a sprint?

Good question, I can’t find any difference either.
I think far sports / wheelsfar would be a tad cheaper for the same specs. I have bought two sets from them, great wheels.
Never heard of them. Will check them out then next time I'm in the market for a pair of wheels!
Hmmm, a tough tight race between these and Prime BlackEdition 50... Prime being a tiny bit wider though.
Yes, What I can se, the Prime RR-50 V3 have a listed weight at 1775g so quite a difference.
@@MYnextDIYbikePROJECT I tried to remove my first post (did a mistake), comparing ICAN Aero 50 to Prime BlackEdition 50 is more fair.

How fast was the shipping?
It was good, with in a week (europeean warehouse).
