Acrylic pouring Medium: Fluid art
My home made pouring medium used for my usual work is a pre mix of 70% clear craft glue and 30% warm water, if in the USA Elmer’s glue all works well (most pva glues can be made up with same ratios to make a pouring medium), I add my pouring medium to my paint slowly until I achieve the consistency of pouring cream, approximately 50/50 more pm if needed, not all paint brands go well with this pouring medium, so just test out.
paint brands mostly used are the Global impasto paints, Amsterdam paints, pebeo paints, also Mont marte studio acrylics, or pouring paints.
I Certainly explore different brands and mediums, it’s all part of the learning process.
Also iv started to add a tablespoon of floetrol to each paint cup and stir instead of silicone for cells.
Extra special cell and lace and bloom like creation is found with Amsterdam paints add Aussie floetrol until correct consistency required, then used in pour or used to swipe details, “Aussie slides” are easily created this method.
If I add silicone this is what I do.
When iv mixed my paints I add 2-4 drops maximum of Helmar silicone, also Australian made, I stir in well.
I always like to mix up my paints and add silicone the day before I’m going to paint, and cover with a damp cloth, as I have found I have much better results.

Thank you for your construction and kind comments, I will certainly try this reverse stencil again and get a few more to try 🤗🤗 this one was from the www.caprioleshabbychic.com.au, ships worldwide 🤗🤗
I like it with the border, it puts the focus on the peacock. 💙💙💙
Thank you 😊
I love it. The peacock has a beautiful composition and colors are impressive.
Thank you 😊
Lovely. If you pounce the color on there is less chance for the paint to bleed under the stencil. Stroking it on can push the paint under the lines. That round sponge is actually called a pouncer.
Oh wow thank you 😊 didn’t know that 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤗🤗
I love that you tried something like this! Love your imagination!
Thank you 😊
The painted edge looks best. Really great idea--it is beautiful!!
Thank you so much 😊
Gilly I love your peacock!!!!! 🥰😘🤗. The finished canvas will be exquisite!
Thank you 😊
Amazing artwork! Thank you for sharing!!! 💥👀💥
I rally like it. So pretty with the background colours. ❤️
Thank you 😊
Your experimenting teaches us. Tysm. Putting black trimming on it really brought out the beautiful peacock and its glorious colors. I love it.
Thank you so much 😊
Very neat idea again. Love it
Thank you 😊
The border really makes him stand out!
Yes absolutely
I love the peacock. I would paint the rest with the same blue as it seems like it has a bit much going on..that way I think the beauty of the peacock would pop more! ♥
Thank you 😊
Turned out really nice Gilly ...looks like a stained glass window! ❤️
Thank you Cathy 🤗🤗
Wow.... like that a lot! Don’t change a thing!
Thank you so much ☺️
Gilly, that is so beautful. I wouldn't change a thing. It really makes your eye wander.
Oh my goodness, I love ur intro! Nothing like a childs laugh. ❤
I love it.I think a border around it would be very nice too .
Thank you ☺️
I liked it both ways, but the blue border really brings out the beauty of the peacock.
I really like the look of a frame around the peacock. Maybe just adding an outline in black or gold would make it stand out more.
Ohhh I love it and the idea
Awesome 🤩
That is beautiful. I am loving the background colors as like pink and green.
Thank you 😊
Great test run! I was worried that the paint would run under the stencil, but it turned out really nice. Thanks for taking chances and showing us the way.
Your welcome 🤗🤗
Yes the dark border
Made it pop. Beautiful.
I think the peacock turned out quite well. The colors are beautiful. The dark blue on the sides makes it awesome.
Thank you 😊
Congratulations, my friend
The peacock is quite cool with the dark background!
Thank you 😊
I really think it's pretty Gilly! Love seeing all your new ideas! I appreciate all your wisdom as much as I do your beautiful art! Very uplifting.
Thank you so much 😊
It turned out beautiful 😍
I like it! What a great idea
That is awesome Gilly Kube ❣️
I love the peacock, perhaps with a solid colour border, xxxxx
Thank you 😊
Love it!!
Thank you 😊
I love it.
Thank you 😊
Very nice !
Thank you 😊
Maybe some gold in the tail love the idea .Looks great.
Love it with the blue border! Awesome 💙💙
Me too, thanks 🤩
Ooooh wow!! its gorgeous!!
Thank you! 😊
I really like it..the stencil worked brilliantly.. reminds me of the front doors of houses years ago.. great job
The border really made the peacock stand out. It is gorgeous! I really liked it before the stencil, but now I love it.
I think this would of been pretty with a thin gold border around the stencil only, just the square and then leave the rest of the pour because I thought it was quite a pretty pour! You could see peacock feathers in the patterns you created! Maybe you could try a stippling brush and heavy body paint? Or a primer and then paint? Maybe even try airbrushing or spray paint. I think a primer would be great to cover the pour and even out the texture a bit!
Thank you so much 😊 must try
Great idea!!! I love it!!
Worried about smearing. Good to see this. Thanks!
I love it Gilly. Got to try it .losts of projects to do .cant wait .love ya .🥰🤩😍🔔🎥❤
Thank you jan, enjoy 😉
I LOVE it ❣❣
Thank you 🙏
The dark sides did justice to the peacock, beautiful!😍
Very pretty 😍
Very cool. First thing I thought was doing it in reverse....... Solid color background and then doing your pour over the stencil. ??? Wonder how that would look. A lot of fun and beautiful stencil. xoxo😘
So beautiful. The peacock really popped once you painted the border. Just beautiful
I like it!
Cool idea! I kinda liked it without the dark background. But you are the artist and it is your choice. Love the peacock!! 😽😊
Thank you ☺️
I think it turned out beautiful ♥️
I really like the wildness going on around the stencil. Interesting!
Really gorgeous with the border. Huge improvement & rather dramatic!!! Love it!!!
I LOVE it!!!!
Looks really cool Gilly It's an idea I had the other day about maybe doing a mandala over the top of a pour! x
Thank you 😊 oh yes I do have a Mandela stencil 😜😜
@@gillykubeart Oooh I need to see you try that first then Gilly! Then I will know what to do x
Love the background and the stencil. I think a thin blue border would be great to frame it in.
Yes I agree, next time I’ll try 😆😆
COOL 😎
Very nice.
To reduce visible bleeding at edges of stencil you could do a layer with clear "pouring medium" or other clear medium first let it dry somewhat and then "pounce" color onto stencil. This worked when I used a stencil on a wall that was painted and dry. Just an FYI.
Oh ok thank you 😊 will try
Great idea!
I love that painting.. Wowsers trousers it’s gorgeous😀
That turned out great! Love the peacock!
So beautiful. Love how adventurous you are. Really inspires others.
Thank you for sharing.
Clean stencil with Gamsol or odourless mineral spirits. And daubbing the paint on the stencil works better for me.
Beautiful piece
Oh great thanks 🤩
It’s pretty. I like the background. A thin quarter inch border separating the stencil from the background would set it off. I suggest the green or maybe gold.
Thank you 😊
Love this! I like the painted border... it makes your peacock stand out ... beautiful as always Gilly!!
Thank you 😊
I love it…love your colour choices, and love peacocks! 😍😍😍😍
Turned out gorgeous, maybe paint the canvas dark and then balloon kiss the colours over the peacock stencil
Thank you 😊 that’s an idea 🤗🤗
Oooh this turned out better than I thought, way better! 💖💖💖👏👏👏
Great job, both look fantastic. My favorite is the first one 💕
Awesome. Thank you for sharing. ❤️
Thank you for the video, it is gorgeous.
U can use nail polish remover to clean the stencil
It is best to use a dryer paint on the stencil to keep it from bleeding under. Love the background!
Thank you 😊
I think it’s gorgeous!
Fabulous love it
Wow Love this
With stencils you need thicker paint so you don't get lines under. Use a dabber so it stays on top of the stencil. Definitely remove stencil like you did while it's wet.
Great job! 😘
Oh thank you 😊
Beautiful! I think a gold border around the stencil or even paint the blue all the way up and put a gold border on each side of the middle stripe. If you use the dabber you will get less paint underneath. I know the make a tack-it spray you spray to the back of your stencil to help stick it down but I’ve never tried it on a painting before. It might work
Oh thank you 😊
I love this!
I love it!
Lovely 🥰❣️
Beautiful ❤️❤️
I love it ❤❤❤
So beautiful
make the bordet 3D, that should work. I like the idea, maybe a different stencil without background elements. Nice job!!
Thank you 😊 I’ll try
Great! Didn't know u did this vid!!! I HAVE a nice collection of stencils I want to add to pours
Yes you are suppose to dab it over the holes and not paint the stencil completely. The paint should not be so liquid. Once your done dabbing one coat, pull the stencil off and usually you don
Ok great next time hey, thanks 🤩
The round brush is a "pounce"
Not bad for your first one.
Gentle dabbing with less paint will give more clean edges and prevent paint from getting under the stencil.
Thank you 😊
It is pretty. Maybe if you did just the peacock in one color and the stencil background color another? Would it pop out more? I do like the idea of a thin blue line border.
Yes so many options 🤔🤔🤗🤗
Another home run Gilly.
A lighter background or like you said a lighter border....Nice
Super gelungen 😍
Would be gorgeous with a thin border around peacock then a wider border with stolid blue on the outside
Yes I think that may work best 🤗🤗
Hi Gilly!! I do like it with the dark border, that way the peacock alone is highlighted.
Do you think it's because you brushed the dark paint on, or because the paint was a little thin, that some color seeped under the edges of the stencil? I first thought that you used a blunt pen to outline each dark area after removing the stencil, then realized that it was (watery?) paint that seeped under the edges. Maybe dabbing WOULD work better, I don't know?
As a practice, I think you learned a lot, even if it's just that you need to try some other things to maybe improve the outcome.
I love the idea of using reverse stencils, like this one, do you have others?
God bless Gilly and have a great week ahead!!
Yes maybe my colour should be dabbed on and thicker, no I don’t have any more of these stencils but I will look for more on www.caprioleshabbychic.com.au 🤗🤗 thanks 🤩
Don't leave it overnight! I did that and the stencil dried to the canvas 🤦♀️🤣 and I couldn't get it off. This is pretty!
🤣🤣 yes I removed thankfully 😅
Turned out pretty but would not have added water to the stencil paint and used spouncer brush witch was the yellow one . I like the idea of doing this with a swipe and the Peacock hoping you’ll try again
Thank you 😊 I’ll try next time
