Saturn SKY. A sports car from Saturn? You've gotta be kidding! What would the reliable but largely colorless Saturn brand do with a sports car?
What it has done with the Saturn Sky is change peoples minds about the brand. The roadster has brought a level of excitement to Saturn that the brand has never known, and it is converting import owners into Saturn buyers. And the good news is, its not just another voluptuous body. Its also a creditable sports car.
Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Saturn Sky.
You can spend a lot more money on a sports car than you will on a Saturn Sky, but we cant guarantee you that the smile they put on your face will be any bigger. For more new car reviews, interviews and automotive news visit www.kbb.com today.
The Sky is better looking (gorgeous really) but the S2000 seems like the more track worthy of the two, the S2000 is nice looking too IMO, just more understated than the Sky
I have a Honda S2000. The Honda quality is at a much higher level in my opinion. My sister had a Saturn, not a sky but it felt really cheap and junky. The Honda is tight with a feeling of quality and the best 6 speed manual I have ever experienced, smooth, tight and short throws. The resale value of the S2000 is excellent. I have only found the time to put 8,000 miles on mine and I can sell it for more than I paid as its in the same condition basically as it was when I bought it new. Always garaged, never driven in the rain California car.
You prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any help you can give me
@Quentin Kian instablaster ;)
@@fastdude2002Honda's are cheap and junky 😅
@@SCHMALLZZZ lol funny that you just commented on my 2 year old comment. I actually just sold my S2000 3 weeks ago for tens of thousands more than I paid new in 2002. It only has 8,000 miles on it. A car collector just bought it from me. Excellent sports car, she will be missed.
I owned two vettes and just bought a saturn sky.. they both are great cars and fast. I got the red line turbo sky. upgrade to 290 hp.
I prefer my '08 Solstice GXP... But this is a nice ride.
I prefer my Honda S2000......
Watching in 2018.
2020 boiz!
Saturn Sky looks better than the Solstice due to the tail lights and front grille/headlights.
I like it, I would just have one to go to school/work and back. It reminds me of Chevys corvette but it's tiny compared to the actual one lol.
sky redline is awesome! also, the engine is 260, its from the cobalt ss.
June 2017. Found 2 Saturn sky on my local Craigslist. one is selling for under 10k. the other for around 13k.
It's 2020 and I bought my Redline new in 2/2008. Only 42k miles and still a head turner. Only real complaint is not able to read the gauges with the top down even though they are set way in to the dash. Very nice wheels to drive and be seen in. Just made for the curvy roads in NW Arkansas.
of all the roadsters I've driven this one looks the coolest but I feel it easily is out performed by the miata and s2k especially if you consider the aftermarket and the fact that imported cars kinda own the lightweight and superb handling bracket. ultimately it comes down to what you like.
So the Solstice SCCA wins year after year mean nothing?
While i am 100% with you, the Kappa is more reliable than a Mini and RWD, and for people like me, who simply just don't fit in the Miata, and don't want to spend 30K for a weekend car.. this is a great option.. though i will be honest, it's built with GM's fantastic quality where everything rattles, and the plastic quality is less quality than the rubbermaid garbage container at your curb.
Miata is a turtle compared to the sky redline
You must be high or a complete moron because the 07 Sky RL is faster than an 07 S2000, 07 Miata and and 07 Boxster.
Get wrekt
saturn sky makes 260 hp/260 torque. and it does not look like a lotus
it takes a man to drive a car with subtle styling, like the S2000.
@HondaSIIk, Corvettes are true sports car, you have a lot of balls to speak ill of the Corvette and this is coming from a s2000 owner. Although the s2000 is a best bang for your buck track worthy sports car, I think the Saturn Sky is a right direction for Saturn/GM. I haven't driven a Saturn Sky but I'll take the s2k over a sky just because I've own one for 4+ yrs and it's still a blast to drive.
Honda S2000 much better quality. I have one with only 8,000 miles on it!
As a owner of 4 Corvettes CLEARLY this clown has no idea what he's talking about..... Let go racing!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't the Nissan 350Z/370Z roadster also compete with the Saturn SKY?
Cool car. Sad to see it have a short run.
Junk Corvette? I think it's hysterical that you're loving up on the Honda S2000, and you call the Corvette junk. It's only junk because you can't afford it, and the Honda is more within reach. Any Vette would take a proverbial dump all over any (remotely) comparable Honda. Get a clue. Really.
Nice profile picture
Maybe because more than half of Florida's inhabitants are retired elders. Haha
Dad's supposed to get one soon, and once I make some money, i'm gonan trade my Ion in for one.
i would kill for the red line sky in either silver or that deep red
I have the silver one!😁
finally I thought I was alone and strange in my thinking, other people that feel the same way.
@flatblackstrat
There are multiple configurations for the engine, each at a different cost.
@3:50 🤔The REDLINE horsepower is NOT 240… it’s 260..! You all should’ve known that even 15 years ago..! Given false information as a “credible” media company. Especially when you have access to all of this basic information….. don’t believe me, check the specs for yourself….

The turbo I think it’s 260 hp and there was a dealer installed mod to bump it to 290
my 2007 has not only traction control but also electronic stability/handling,, also you said the 2.0 has 240 HP,, it actually has 260 HP.
Need to check your facts sammy2taylor. I own a sky redline. Has traction control and limited slip diff. 7 speaker "upgraded" audio (they have aftermarket is you what too.) My stock satelite radio works just fine. Convertible flaps work too. Trunk and wind noise is true. Plus the 290 hp and 340ft/lbs make for a quick ride. I guess your hoping the caps locks will make it all true.
My mom saw that car yesterday and thought it had a beautiful design. At first she didn't know what kind of car it was, then I said it's a Saturn Sky.
The redline has a 260 horsepower motor.
I truly believe that an S2000 and Miata MX-5 are better roadsters, BUT a Solstice GXP has similar handling and weight distribution with a simply massive increase in power. I'll take a 15% decrease in handling for a much bigger increase in power.
I like my black 07 solstice gxp with stage 3 upgrade and tune.fun to drive
Amazing how Saturn closed down
That 4:3 aspect ratio tho lol
watching in full screen on a 21:9 monitor D:
im stuck between a mx5, z4, solstice and this car. i dont know which one to buy.
mx5 , because it has a greater aftermarket backing..
Job Done Right ha, all the car listed are slow. Maybe except the z4. And it would cost waaayy more to make the Pontiac solstice or Saturn sky a "fast" car then it would the mx5 miata.
Tixe
$300 for a gm tune to make it go from 260 to 300hp.
mx5 is nowhere near that
+Job Done Right I don't care for my car to be fast I live in Miami I just want something that's a convertible, small and reliable.
TheColonelAngel
NO just responding because the guy said it wasn't fast. GXP/Sky are fine.
My sky 279 RWHP 331 FT LBS K&N Magnaflow Stage 2, Waste gate Mod & HP Dyno Tune. The torque maxes at 3000 rpm and is very flat til 5200. The power is appear-ant at low rpms. It's a car that will get the inexperienced driver in trouble very quick especially around corners. Tires are the weak point.
I live in South Florida and it seems the only people I see driving this car is old retired people lol don't really know why.
Those old people were muscle car owners with hemicudas and roadrunners.. that is why.. and they aren't dead yet... just old.
He also said its an mx5. Not sure he knows what's going on.
I have this car in my garage right now, winter : storage. Ask me any questions you have:
Same here!😊
@@lckhmup-xf5ft i unfortunately sold it last year. Highly regret
@OwninFools2020 you shouldn't have done that.
@@SCHMALLZZZ one of my biggest regrets. Now I have a 2023 Camaro, got it brand new
Why does he mention the redline 3 times with 3 different HP numbers.
@39willieparker where is that article???
Cool car.
s2000 is the only car I know of which will rev to 9000, which is kinda cool, plus why is it that GM has a habit of making clones of a car? Chrysler town and county=dodge caravan, solstice=sky etc
How much is it worth right now
Pretty inconsistent review, first he says 260hp for the Redline then 240 which is it.
260 irl
Between a used Sky and an S2000, the S2000...of course!
The Redline version would beat the S2000 like a red headed stepchild in every performance metric imaginable.
Not really, not in handling and not in quality, Honda has it beat. Check resale values. S2000s with low miles are going for what they cost new or more. Pontiac and Saturns go for pennies on the dollar, major depreciation. I should know, I have a S2000 with only 8,000 miles in California and I will eventually sell it for more than I paid new....
friend said if I get this car, parts are going to be hard to find. is this true?
Got one as of today , and for sure this one will get expensive over time. Best investment I've made. The pussy magnet it's just extra.
How is the car now?
+Joey :3cool car, so far it hasn't died on me yet. Lol it does drive and look great On a hot day at the beach. ;)
+mama tranks oh yeah, own one myself, first car ive bought on my own. Best thing about it is that sexy front end. reminds me of a sting ray corvette if you look at it. I want to put an LS3 in it to make it sound super sexy too, but im afraid the back end wont be heavy enough to run like a scalded ape.
yes i agree, chicks love the sky,,,
pretty good looking car except for the chrome accents on the exterior
I'd change that grill first, though.
would a stock audi
01 s4 beat this?
The lines on the solstice are much cleaner in my opinion
There the exact sane body style except the Soltice gas a bug eater grill!
@lckhmup-xf5ft no, the solsotce looks like a 1950s pontiac bonneville concept, the sky.looks like a 7/8th scale c6
@39willieparker Is that really such a bad thing?
S2000 is ugly!!! Sky is amazing...
I'm 6f tall and would buy one in a heartbeat...but theres no legroom
No true, I’m 6 foot and it’s fine…
@PandehPropaganda
no, they don't suck because you don't like them. it's just my opinon and not yours. I don't get what you mean when you say there not in the same category. their all coupes, their just not convertables.
I just got one,
@metalman7878 not when its blacked out and fixed up my friend owns one and its fucking fast
Chrysler/Dodge isn't owned by GM...
@metalman7878 I agree. I'd rather have an NSX or hell even a civic coupe.
The Mazda RX-8 can rev to 9200 rpms.
@YourPowerStation most cars are considerably weak to a corvette..... :D
id look pimp, sorry the S2000 is fuckin tiny. I also kinda like the pontiac solstice
Why did saturn have to die.
Great car wrong owners, General Motors ruined their vehicles by making them all based on the same cars. If this car was from a well established brand it would have had much more success. I’m not being a brand snob it’s not the brand cache I’m speaking of but instead the mismanagement.
@LeeDrastl I thought it was killed off
Pontiac solstice or Saturn sky!! aah decisions!
Saturn can beat any car in the universe....like Bruce lee...🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
@MoneyTalkzTV cool story bro..
2018
@jman781 260 I-4 turbo
but...it's a honda...and a pretty bland honda at that. No offence, but...that bracket of car isn't as well rounded in my opinion (actually, it's TOO rounded, if you get my point...)
100% Agree. You have to rev the shit out the S2000 just to get the damn thing to move. It's horsepower rating is crazy -- like at 7500 RPM.
@39willieparker HAHAHAHAHAHAHH thats good
Reverse that please!
chicks love my sky, i get alot in that trunk,. there are hooks if u wanna get a box home. ratchet that baby
Put the roof down my your self?
Too bad saturn wen tout of buisness and these cars arnt being built anymore.
OK design, unimpressive price....looks like a knock-off vette = end of the brand
im not impressed by vettes,
and youd never be able to drive one
I think the redline badge will confuse many dim witted people. Haha!
I have a 2008 Skyline carbon fiber with silver up the hood and I have a 06 2003 50th anniversary in the Saturn sky is nice but it's tight tighter than a Corvette but they're both fun cars oh Red Line
haha
S2000 looks to girly... I'd never want one...
