Hi Sharur. Let me start my comment by braking it down into some sections. 1) There is no denying your passion and subsequent knowledge you have acquired. The fact you are studying sound engineering does give you a perspective which is different to 98% of the population. 2) having this knowledge does not however give you the right to be disrespectful about what other people's perception of sound is in relation to any iem. Your ears and mine are different so the probability of us taking in the sound of a iem differently is high. I dont have to name all the factors involved, but the simple thing that how deep you fit the iem vs how deep i fit will automatically change things. The diameter of your ear canal vs mine and even the fact that you cannot guarantee the when you fit the Mega 5EST it will sit at a distance from your eardrum that is equal to the one when you measure it on a rig is enough to automatically dismess greatly many of your arguments. Having said that i honestly see no need for saying what you said in 5:05 is unnecessary. It almost seems that you want to show off that you are so smart, so clever ,so capable, but in reality your perception is your perception. This is why this hobbie is so subjective, so full of nuances , not to mention that your level of expected performance is one based on your perception of what is correct sound and how well it measures compared to the std established, when this is all about the music. 3) i also want to say , its all good to change your mind....your opinion, but it would be nice to instead of only doing graph reviews , get the iem first , then do and say what you want. The Variations is a classic example, you went from saying the best about it , to calling it absolute carbage. Be a little more consistent my friend it goes a long way. Lastly enjoy the music a little more, dont worry about if its 100% correct according to some graph establish by some person / persons that think they are all knowing in sound and how it should be. Hi Sharur, the Mega5EST doesn’t have inverted polarity-it’s actually the cable that has inverted polarity. That’s why rotating it 180° fix the polarity issue with the OG cable (blue and red dots at front). But if you want to swap the cable, you can luckily just connect it as normal! If you use the TinHifi cable to rotate the pins the "correct" way, you're actually still connecting it incorrectly. That might be why you don’t notice much of a difference-because it’s still wrong.
It seems like both the cable and the 2-pin connector on the IEM need to be flipped. I’m starting to think that my model doesn’t have the 2-pin connector inverted to match the inverted polarity of the WhiteWhale cable (that is intentionally reversed). So, in my case, I can use other aftermarket cables in the normal way (earhook in the back).
Ive had the Kiwi Ears Ke4 which has a very similar tuning to the Mega5Est (this new Meta tuning). Most iems that have this new tuning have these strange peaks at around 13-15k. Havent heard the Mega5 but ive read in some reviews that the Ke4 is less peaky in the upper treble/air area. Still i couldnt take it. Everything sounded bassy and smooth and thats ok but then these sudden peaks appeared and this destroyed the whole experience for me. For me the Variations still have the smoothest and most "dissolved in the air" trebles ive ever heard on an iem (maybe only the Monarch 2 is in the same league having bit fuller and even more natural midrange- on the Monarch 2 the pinna is spread bit wider than on the Variations which creates a bit less peaky and fuller pinna experience).

@@zblus Great question! Because it sounds really good to my ears. I am not an expert like the creator of this channel. I am certainly not good at EQing like Sharur, or Crinacle who is one of the industry leading experts at audio tuning. With those settings my WanEr's give me the closest quality to my Nova's, other IEMs can't get as close, even with the same improvements. Some times I even preffer the WanEr's for relaxing sessions, so there you go. 25 + 15 + 7 = 47 $47 for $100+ performance
So what? I can't say which is better, only which is better FOR ME. Nobody is objectively right, because listener preferences vary, as Harman's research makes clear. Sharur is always saying contradictory things like "oooo this is an endgame IEM, with EQ!" So why not just EQ the Mega5EST?
