I had to rehome my first dog because I was too fast to get one and couldn’t take proper care of him :( but it was the best thing I could do and now he lives on a big farm!
i had gotten a second pigeon for mine, in hopes he would appreciate the companionship. well unfortunately he absolutely hated her, and despite me loving her it was for the best to rehome her. now shes in a great home and paired up with another pigeon, and they love each other. it worked out so much better than if id selfishly kept her
Aaaa, thank you! I’ve had to rehome a dog because my parents were divorcing and we couldn’t properly care for his behavioral needs. (He was a husky x German Shepard mix). It was hard, but better for everyone in the end!
As a person who had a small cage for their budgies (not as small as the person in this video, it was bigger but it was still small), I rehomed the birds. It was a tough decision to make, but it was the best for the birds
@@bunnyskye7593 Yeah I tried to find and buy a big enough cage for them, but I didn’t have the money to do so, and saving up to it took too long. I let them free roam the room almost, but it still didn’t make up for the size of the cage. It makes me really happy seeing the pics the new owner sends me, they’re happy being in a small budgie flock and having a big cage
i had a small cage for guinea pigs (wasn't incredibly small but now I know it wasn't big enough for them both), and they were rehomed it was better for them
13:12 FACTS. If you cant afford proper living requirements for your pet, YOU CANT AFFORD A PET. Not being able to afford it is no excuse for abusing your pets to this extent... how do you look at a cage THAT small and say "yup! a bird can live in here happily!" And even FOUR birds??? Holy fucking shit...
It made me feel sick to my stomach. That cage would not be suitable for a bug even less a bird. I may have made mistakes with my budgies but that is just plain animal abuse.
I don’t understand people saying the right cage isn’t in their budget so they shoved their pets in a tiny cage. If the right size cage isn’t in budget - neither is the pet 🤷
Right? Like its barely acceptable when you have to downsize/given these pets by someone else, but even then if you can’t take care of the pets you should rehome them. “Not having the budget” for a pet means you shouldn’t get the pet, wtf?
fr my brother got a fairly small cage for a guinea pig (who we gave to someone who would be a better owner) because ",it was in my budget and i wanted her" and thought the employee at PetSmart knew what he was talking about because he "found mr a cage in my budget"??? so stupid
Just, getting a pet isn't just buying the animal and nothing else. It's a constant investment, like a child or a car. If you can't afford all aspects of getting and caring for that pet, you can't afford the pet
Thank you! :D i’m the person with the last cage i have more toys and rope perches hanging from my ceiling but maybe i forgot to add that, the cage to build was about 100 dollars :) it’s definitely a great option especially if shipping is very expensive in your country like mine :D Edit: i changed and added a lot of things also the thing on the side of my cage isnt spiderwood, spider wood is actually poisonous to birds. it’s actually a liana vine which is safe :)
Thank you for showing/reviewing my mouse cage! ❤ If anyones interested in the cage, it's Borneo XL . It isn't very easy to get hold of but it's such a nice cage (I'm in the UK). The caramel/white mouse in the photo is Robin, and she's an absolute potato 🥔
My school recently got a tank for fish and they hadn’t put fish in them yet, but me and my friends asked what kind they were getting and the said that they were getting (I think 3) Cidlings and me and her did some research and found that the smaller kinds of those need a minimum of 20 gallons, sadly they didn’t listen to us on that :c, but we told them that fake plants can harm the fish and they said that they’d have to take them out! (It was the kind of fake plant, it was spikey)
My gf’s school has a fishtank with no filter and she’s begged the teacher to get a filter or let her clean the tank and they said no. Schools shouldn’t be allowed to have fish.
@@Wherearemypannttttsss My school has an aquatic science class that does learns about water, adaptations of aquatic creatures, ect. and the teacher takes care of the fish- everyone in the class learns how to take care of their fish and I know the teacher well due to band (her son is in band) and I bet she would say something if someone in the school got fish There are 2 aquatic science teachers too and we have a room filled with fish tanks to learn how to care for them- and we are taking care of trout for conservation efforts where there will be put into a river
Soda, you weren't too harsh at all. As a person who has owned hamsters, canaries, guinea pigs, beta fish, and now cats, I can admit I have made mistakes with pet care in the past. Pet youtube was where I saw what I was doing wrong and how to fix it.
That caramel coloured mouse isn't actually a great colour for mice. The gene responsible A(vy) is linked to obesity, diabetes, and tumours. It's hard to manage since girls are in groups. If you're look for mice and see that colour being expressed it's something to be aware of. Not blaming the owner at all. I've got a yellow mouse that is an orb.
Hi! She's mine, she's one of the rescue girls. So I didn't choose her variety. She's a lovely mouse, but definitely a chonk. I keep an eye on her weight 😊
Thank you!! I’m the person with the first cages. For anyone worrying about the hut and stuff, I haven’t seen the budgies (two girls) going in the hut, but I do like using it as a foraging toy with foraging grass and other toys, and they enjoy sticking their head in and sitting on it and playing with the stuff in the hut. also, the hut is completely smooth, so dont worry about any coconut fibers haha. With the seagrass matt, the birds like hanging off of the side. It is pretty big so I dont think it would cause hormonal behaviour, but i am keeping an eye on it. if it something does end up causing them to become hormonal, i’ll definitely remove it from the cage. thank you for reviewing my cages!!
Just a note, the hut hormone issue isn't just about mating, even a single bird or two of the same gender can be badly impacted because the hormones can impact them badly in many other ways! Just wanted to let you know that just because they're unable to mate, or seem "fine/happy/etc" doesn't mean you should keep something that fills them with body chemistry altering hormones meant for a specific short term evolutionary act
Are you the owner of the first betta tank? If so, as someone who has bettas as one of their special interests, it's important that their water is separated. Bettas secrete hormones into the water and if two male bettas share the same tank water they will know the other male is there whether they can see them or not. Just like Soda said, they need two different tanks with minimum of 5 gallons and you have to treat their fin rot. Also, get some of those water testing strips and make sure your water parameters are okay, that will help with preventing that issue in the future. You got this! If you need help come join us on reddit at /r/bettafish, there is also plenty of great inspiration for really cool tanks there.
Thank u for sharing and accepting advice shows peeps can be grateful instead of being all deffense thank you for showing the way how to behave much appreciated hope others follow ur suit xxx
Soda , you don’t need to try and be too kind but you know that that might get affended. If they sent you their enclosers. They asked for advise . So if they get affended it’s not your fault.
Its not her fault if they get affended, but on the other hand do people usally listen better if you are kind when telling someone that what they are doing is wrong.
@@coolpercool Why on earth do you feel the need to correct people on spelling? And yes that was a mistake and yes I dont care if I have spelled things wrong in this comment. Have a good day. :)
Hi! As a fellow New Zealander I find this video really interesting. I want to start by saying I have a lot of background with a large variety of animals, and while I know I'm far from perfect, I like to think of myself as at least well versed in animal care for most pet species available locally. While its awesome to see the really nice enclosures here, the less ideal enclosures I think are a sign of a bigger issue. In NZ I feel like we have so few pet stores that actually care about the welfare of the animals. Most pet stores will sell any fish to anyone, with any size aquarium, they wont educate people on proper pet care and a lot of the time, employees don't even know what best practice is. I worked in a pet shop for a few years and one of the few reasons I left was that locals were most of the time were resistant and sometimes even hostile when I would try to (in the nicest ways possible) teach them about best practice. How to cycle an aquarium, how to properly stimulate birds, proper dog training techniques etc etc. We have the highest pet count per household in the world so I feel we really should be setting better examples but far to frequently pets are being neglected or even abused in NZ. What I'm trying to get to is that more content like this is needed. A platform that educates people on pet care and helps people understand the commitment they make when adopting an animal. I hope your channel grows and I would be enthusiastic to share pictures/stories of my menagerie with you. If this info can reach the people adopting out animals, and those who are taking those animals home, our country would be a much nicer place for pets to reside.
always surprises me when i see the really bad set ups because these people must watch you and probably other petubers so wouldn’t they know their enclosures aren’t suitable? anyways i appreciate how respectful you are when giving advice
I think the people submitting "bad" ones know that their setups aren't great, but don't know where to start to make changes. Finding info on the internet can be overwhelming and hard to know what is best, so many younger/less experienced viewers likely see her as a more trustworthy source than the 15 conflicting sources they've found online.
there was a pic on facebook about a guy who kept a *catfish* in a hamster cage, he just gave it a dish of water to drink from and some rice to eat. i honestly don't know if it was satire
5:06 Divided Betta tanks can actually be super cool when done right. That one is obviously way too small, but I've seen lots of people divide 10 gallon tanks so the Bettas have 5 gallons each! Usually the dividers are dark in color so the Bettas cannot see each other. I kinda hope the owner of that small tank sees this comment so maybe they'll consider that instead.
I haven't seen any heater in this very small fish tank as well. Bettas are tropical fish wich means that they need a heater to have warm water. Bettas, goldfish, plecos or any other feeder fish are the most abused fish. I don't know why people still think that bettas are still kept in cups or vase with no filter or heater, but it makes me sad and mad to see them treated like decorations or ornament.
@@oiseaufeu I completely agree!! It’s very sad how so many people mistreat their fish because “they’re just fish”. I guarantee they wouldn’t say the same about their cat or dog.
@@livvydraws-v7n I'll add that pet store are to blame because of the way they show how the fish is kept. Bettas are kept in tiny cups filled with cold water. So people just keep bettas in small container without any filter or heater. People don't think of researching about the nitrogen cycle before adding fish to their fishtank and wonder why their fishes have all died. Most of my fish have died a few months in the aquarium or a year after due to diseases or internal parasites. Though, my fishtank was cycled when I added the fish in.
@@oiseaufeu yeah, I had my betta fish Comet for 4 years before he passed away in October of last year. The reason he lived that long is because he lived in a cycled 10 gallon aquarium, and I always made sure the water was clean. I also fed him a healthy diet and occasional frozen bloodworms. A ridiculous amount of people have told me that I put way too much effort into his care, even though I was simply doing what a good betta owner should do.
@@livvydraws-v7n You just did the right thing. You just have to tell them that you do what you want to keep your fish happy. I always heard people who have kept bettas that their betta was happy in simple cup of water that's literally not even a gallon. I told them that they were keeping their betta fish horribly. A 5 gallon fish tank is way better than just a cup, vase or any other very small containers.
Facebook marketplace and craigslist are also great for fish tanks, just make sure u meet the person in public or have someone come with you for back up
I got my 30 gallons on kijiji (a website used to sell a bunch of used onjects) and my 33 gallons I got was from facebook market from someone who had upgraded its saltwater fishtank to a bigger one. It was used for saltwater and will be used for saltwater again. Not sure what I'll place in it once it cycled but I was thinking of 2 clownfish. Yeah, 33 gallons isn't big enough for the most beautiful fishes.
You shouldn't worry about being sorry for free decent advise , your doing ur best to help them n they didnt have to show u but I think ur fine the way u said it its showing honesty rather than a pet shop saying yer this be fine yer take that it be good as I feel some pet shops are researching properly n just looking for quick sales, but I respect ur honest opinion, that blue cage I'm not entirely sure it's not a troll post , but despite that u even suggested to look for second hand n no one really thinks of that either . Love ur vids n u are an amazing person !

I really don't know where the whole YT Bird Community got the idea from that sisal would be the material that is safe and cotton would be dangerous. Sisal is also considered dangerous where I live and I heard from a lot of cases where the budgies or cockatiels chewed on sisal and this hard and spiky material got stuck in their throat and the bird either had to have an emergency operation or it sadly died because it couldn't eat or breath anymore. Sometimes the hard fibres even punctured the throat or intestines of the bird. Right now the recommendations in my country are exactly the opposite of the ones on yt. Cotton is still dangerous, but at least less dangerous than sisal. The fibers of the material have to be soft and tightly braided, but sisal is very hard and sticks out. If you ever held a sisal rope and have sensitive skin like I do you would know how irritating that material is. In my country it is a well known fact that sisal often gets stuck in a birds crop or intestines and on top of it the rough material irritates the skin and organs. There is almost no rope material that is safe for birds, cotton also gets stuck in their crop, but at least it is a way more flexible and softer material than sisal, so it would need a bigger amount to cause serious problems. On top of it I never seen sisal rope that isn't already covered in fibres that stick out, meanwhile there are dagnerous cotton rope that are only twisted, but there are also some that are really tightly braided and therefore way harder to rip. So cotton rope can be better than sisal if it isn't twisted like most of the ropes you get from pet stores, but tightly braided. Right now it seems every rope material can cause problems, but grass rope seems to be the least dangerous. At least there isn't any reported incidents regarding that material. But I've only seen it for sale in two bird online shops and as far as I know they don't ship into the US... And about the coconut hide in the first cage: That doesn't necessarily mean the bird gets hormonal. Budgies can be kept in male groups and they tend to be less aggressive because of a hide. So if the owner only has boys and they don't chase each other around etc. it shouldn't be a problem. If they have females the hide should go, that's just risky.
What country do you live in where this is well known? Last year, I adopted a cockatiel who died only 10 days after we got her. She had swallowed part of a seagrass mat which caused a blockage. The seagrass mat was recommended by 5 different bird youtubers and the breeder we got her from. Regarding the coconut hut: Male budgies cannot lay eggs, but they can still get hormonal. Hormones in male budgies can cause them to become territorial, regurgitate to humans/birds/other objects, or try to mate with humans/birds/other objects.
@@livi6886 Hey I live in germany. Man, so seagrass is also out of the window. So there's really no good rope material. I don't know whether there's a difference between grass or seagrass in texture, though. The grass rope is made of actual grass, not sea grass. May I ask what size or part it was that they swallowed? Was it like a thread of grass or a big chunk of the mat? Could it be that it was a solid piece and the size of it was the cause of the blockage or was a string the cause? Every material has cons whether it's leather, sisal, cotton, coconut fiber, hemp, jute, bast, etc. While there are countless of emergencies reported with sisal as the cause, I couldn't really found any with grass ropes till now. They are basically hay that's tightly braided. Nothing sticks out and a couple of small bird species eat fresh grass, so their digestive system can at least tolerate it. Thanks for clarifiyng the thing about male budgies and hides. I know that male finch groups often have no problem with it, but of course it depends on whether you have a very territorial bird or not.
@@minzkaffee2440 I am not sure what part caused the blockage but there were lots of small chunks of seagrass on the bottom of the cage, so my guess is that she swallowed one of those pieces. Paper rope might be a safer alternative. It doesn't make much sense to me that rope is considered dangerous because it can cause a blockage, and yet it is recommended to give birds wood, mahogany pods, palm leaf, and other materials that are just as (if not more!) dangerous if ingested.
hi!! im the owner of the first cages. thank you for letting me know about the sisal ropes!! from my research, they seem like a safe alternative for cotton rope, but i’ll definitely do more research! as for the coconut hut, i do have two bonded females, but they don’t physically go in the hut themselves. i enjoy using it as a foraging toy, but im definitely keeping an eye on it to make sure they dont become hormonal or start trying to nest or go into the hut, currently the hut has foraging grass that they enjoy pulling out and chewing on. thank you!
@@minzkaffee2440 oh oof, that’s not good. my cockatiel likes chewing on his seagrass matt, and although he doesnt eat any of it, i’ll definitely have to look into it’s safety and if i should remove it. thank you for letting me know!
11:40 I'm not meaning to judge this person because I don't know exactly what their situation is, but in my opinion if you can't afford a nice cage to give the animals a good life you probably shouldn't get 4 budgies.
This is not related to the video but I’m so glad I found your channel again when I was younger I watched the mlp stuff and absolutely loved it and then one day I came across one of your videos and thought you sounded familiar and then I checked and realized who you were then I continued to watch your new pet content and loved it, Ive stuck around since then. Thank you for never letting me live a boring moment. :)
My old betta fish shurby had finrot, we had medicine and we would weekly water change but sadly he passed away and he was my favourite fish he lasted for 2 years and a half.
I don’t understand why people don’t give big enough tanks for betta fish just because they are cheap doesn’t mean everything for them is cheap and also doesn’t mean that all they need is a 1 gallon tank I have a 10 gallon for my betta witch does seem a little overboard but I want any animals I get to have the best life possible
I get the problem with expensive cages, the type I was looking for was $800, but I managed to find something that was a nice size (don’t know the exact measurements but it’s what people call the minimum from what I’ve seen) for $200. I’m planning to upgrade to that $800 one somewhere on the future.
Thank you very much for your videos 😊, they really help me make sure I am caring for my pets well so they can live thier best life 😄. I would love to see a video of you showing your pet set ups, so we can see good examples 😋.
I just got my stand built for my 20 gal, I just need to wait for my air pump to get in the mail for me to start the cycling process. My betta Kylo will be in it, as well as 6 lampeye killifish, and kuhli loach, and maybe a bamboo shrimp. Definitely excited, and when it's set up properly I want to send it in to get judged 😊
I hope you do another one of these in the next few months. When I move into my new house with my fiance I definitely want to have you review my rat cage!!
My friend had a betta fish for 2 years and recently got 3 tetras and now the betta isn’t eating, they don’t really know what to do about it and I usually try to help them out with their fish but we don’t know how to fix it. (They also have a 10 gallon tank)
idkhow much space tetras need but bettas need 5 gallons and if they put the 3 tetras in with the betta thats half its needed space gone plus bettas are solo fish so its probably stressed out id recommened buying another tank for the tetras
Tetras are known (depending on wich species of tetras) to be fin nippers. They're also need to be in a school of 6 fish or more so they need to have at least 20 gallons or more if they want to keep them.
That tiny cage with 4 four budgies is horrendous- I dont get how ANYBODY with even the smallest bit of common sense would keep an animal in that let alone get them in the first place if they can't geta bigger cage. Like those 4 would need a flight cage as ABSOLUTE minimum.
I just got a rat recently and I really want some cage, toy, setup, training, and food help. I got my rat by surprise and he's very young apparently. He's an albino rat (white fur and red eyes). Is there anything specific I should do to take care of my rat?
When I was seven,my mother had surprised me with a budgie as a birthday present. I was a naive little kid so I was super excited and saw no wrong in the action. She already had a cage for him and some toys. I decided to name him Storm because the blue on his chest reminded me of a thunderstorm…I guess?Anyways, two days later I noticed he started to look rough and his tweeting sounded mournful. When my mom researched why,she found out it was because budgies were social animals and needed companions. So,we drove back to the pet-store and I selected a white budgie with a blue streak under its wing. I named it Lightning because the blue streak looked like a bolt of lightning. When we added Lightning to the cage,we saw an immediate upgrade in Storm’s personality and he was much happier. Soon, though,my mom grew irritated with their constant high-pitched singsongs and would constantly shout at them. That’s when I sort of put two and two together and realized I wasn’t prepared to be a bird owner. So I rehomed them to a lady with much more experience than me. As much as I loved them and missed them,I’m still glad I didn’t keep them out of my own selfishness just because I would feel lost without them. You’re not a bad owner if you rehome your beloved companion.
My mosquito fish tank is small, but note that mosquito fish are nothing like goldfish they are more like guppy’s. Mosquito fish are Creek fish (i only have 1 mosquito fish)
Hi soda! I was actually just at the pet store and not to buy fish but stuff for my dogs and I was looking at them when my parents looked at the food ect and I know they where temporary tanks but they were putting fighting fish in the tanks but there was also marine and tropical fish and I was wondering if there is any easy accessible fish in Australia I can get :)?
I have a bad budgie cage..its not small, its just that its not big enough for my budgie, if anyone could tell me where to get a massive/big cage that would really help !
Look around for second hand options. Sounds like you are a kid and cages can get expensive very fast. Facebook marketplace, eBay and many other platforms can be used to search for a great cage for little money
Look on secondhand websites too! I know in the US, there are tons of apps like Let Go and websites like Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace and Ebay. Depending on your country, many of these should also be options for you! Look into what secondhand websites and apps are available in your area. Also, if you have any friends who own birds or other pets, or who did in tge past, you could always ask them if they have an old cage from their last cage upgrade, or ask if they know anyone who has an extra cage not in use. Another option to consider is if anyone in your family or close family friends have some handiness skills, see if they could help you build a cage for much cheaper than buying one!
Could be torn fins also (water flow, plastic plants, pointed shells), but finrot is more likely as they have a flow filter (bio sponge filter better for Bettas, less flow), there looks to be no sponge media for beneficial bacteria on the flow filter, so it's just pushing water. But yes they need at least minimum (more is Betta 😀) that amount of space each, what they have is the equivalent of a vase.
Their are no bird breeds , only species ! But I personally believe their are no “beginner birds” birds live a very long time and are very hard and high maintenance animals. All species , each species is different but they are all extremely high Maintenance. Just research alot , find a few species you think could fit your lifestyle and research them a lot more. If possible volunteer at a parrot rescue or bird store to get 1 on 1 experience with parrots. A parrot is like bringing a toddler into your home ! He prepared and do as much research as possible.
Hmm, probably species that don't live too long. (Some can live over 50 years.) And don't need to constantly be entertained as to not get bored. Some species get bored faster and need more attention than others. Also species you can find a lot of info about. Like cockatiels. I have a quaker parrot and it's harder to research about than a cockatiel, because quakers aren't as well known.
It really depends a lot on your lifestyle! Any parrot, regardless of species is a huge responsibility. So nobody should choose a bird just because it is a "starter bird". Ask yourself this: why do you want a parrot? Because they can talk? Because they look pretty? Do you want a cuddly bird or a more independent one? Are you home during the day or do you work all day? Are you okay with being bitten sometimes? All of these things determine what species is right for you (or if you should even get a parrot in the first place!). Hope this helped.
Hello Soda! I cannot wait to send you my enclosures because I may be getting a fish today(If I have enough) A betta and I hope for a 10 gallon tank with natural plants because I hate plastic and bright color rocks and would rather have natural plants and hope to feed my fish brine shrimp and other better foods for it! I hope to name my fish Ender after my channel! If anyone has reccomended food brands or favorite plants they wanna reccomend go for it! I want the best for my fish! Edit: so I've decided to wait to get all of it until after our schools spring break because I will be at the beach for a whole week and I dont want to rely on my father to take care of it because he has to work and doesnt want to go and wants to get stuff done at the house and dont want him to have to take care of my fish so I will only have the tank, filter, light, and plants Edit 2: I thought about second hand but then my dad offered his old tank for me which has everything I need except food and plants so thanks dad!
I would recommend cycling the tank for a full month before you get your fish. Look up "how to cycle a tank" most fish die because they are put into a tank that has not been running. You shouldn't just put a fish in a new tank without cycling it first, ignore what pet stores tell you, they do need to be cycled for a long time to build up beneficial bacteria. Hope this helps, would be sad for you to get a new friend and see him pass away due to not having a cycled tank.
@@BellaAndTweeter Some tank mates you can with Bettas are neon tetras, Corydoras, MAYBE Cherry Shrimp and other peaceful fish. If you DO want tank mates, I suggest getting a female because they are less aggressive. Some plants I recommend are Anubias, Vallisneria and Amazon Sword (if tank is tall enough). Don't get any red plants if the light isn't super strong, and the red plants aren't really beginner plants.

hey just wanted to let you know, i can see that you have plastic bowls in your bird's "bedroom" (as i like to call them), and i recommend against them as they can easily collect a lot of bacteria, even if it is thoroughly cleaned & looks quite clear. personally i think that stainless steel is the way to go! :)
I actually can’t use stainless steal because one of my birds has an obsession with mirrors due to his previous home, so anything reflective he obsesses over, I tried using stainless steel and even covering the sides but he still found his reflection
@@wonyzzluver Sorry, I didn't realize that. I hope that you can get a bigger cage for them soon. If you cannot provide adequate space, toys, and perches, I hope that you can find the courage to rehome them.
when you said the thing about budgies being territorial i wanted to say that my female budgie once got really territorial because she was nesting and i had a zebra finch with her and she grabbed him from its wing and threw him. when i came to feed then i saw her throwing him and he was bleeding from his neck. i separated him from the buggies. but i didnt get it because she has not layed eggs yet and it has been like 3 - 5 months, but she was showing breeding behavior. if someone knows what is wrong pls let me know
The aggression from budgie female could be just a result of mixing different species of birds. You should never do that. Especially with budgies, as I've heard many stories of them being aggressive with other species, even larger than them like cockatiels. It's really good that you've separated them. Unfortunately, I can't advise anything about breeding and eggs ;-; If it was me, I would just take her to the vet to examine her just in case.
A few years ago my sister and I unfortunately impulse bought 2 budgies. We have the same cage as 2:37 but we didn’t put enough effort in to taming them. Does anyone know if it’s possible to tame older birds? Can they live happily even if they are untamed? They unfortunately didn’t have a great breeder and lived in a very crowded cage. Whenever they were handled it was very roughly. I’m not sure if it’s possible to undo any of that trauma
If you are getting an animal, and you are aware of the fact that you have a low budget DONT GET PETS! Animals have needs and sometimes they can be expensive 🤷🏼♀️ And using your ”low budget” as an excuse to litterally abuse your animals isnt okay. And the fact that there wasnt even room for one bird and there where four in there is absolutely heartbreaking:(
Do you know anything about chickens? I wanna do one for my chickens cage but I don’t know if u know about chickens,if u still do the reviews today can you pls respond to this?
Question: do you review ferret cages? Also storytime, yesterday while buying toys at petco , I saw a little boy, probably not even 8 years old, walking out with 2 bettas and a literal teeny tiny fish bowl and nothing else. Those poor fish probably won't even last a week. Parents, stop letting your little children get pets especially if you won't help care for them when the kid gets bored of them.
Do you know anything about kittens? My family recently got a white Persian kitten, he is ADORABLE, but I was wondering if you've ever dealt with kittens, maybe trying to get them along with other animals like other cats and dogs, I'll I'll my own research, I just wanted to ask cause I figured why not

Soda, don't feel bad for being harsh imo these people asked for your honest opinion and even if it feels mean it needs to be said. I feel like a lot of people are really passive about animal abuse and that's part of the reason it gets so bad half the time.
I'm getting a bunny so I've been watching more of your videos and animal videos in general cause i'm so excited my dad is giving his bunny to me cause he has 2 males he needs to separate and I've wanted a bunny for a while now I've already done all the research i need to do and still doing extra so i get extra prepared my dad says the bunny's personality is calm curious and friendly which just so happens to be what I've wanted in a pet i have drawn them several times and even made a animation of them (even though its a sketch animation I'm not ready to move on to smooth outlines just yet) im gonna name him silk sorry this comment is long im just rambling cause im so excited you probably dont have experience with them i say this cause I dont think you ever mentioned one from what i watched of your videos so far but I've gotten all the things i need for the bunny and checked the 2 bags of treats at least 3 times by now cause I want to be really sure they are healthy for my bunny wow i just realized how long this is getting i'ma stop now but one more thing if your interested in the bunny at all i will be posting about him here on UA-cam im not trying to advertise myself but I'm just mentioning ok bye wow this was long sorry for writing a whole thesis lol
Oh no! Whats wrong with bettafix? My brother just got done treating his sick, near-death betta with bettafix, and shes completely better. But now im worried about long term effects? Anyone have insight?
@@pauldanoassshark4796 Will it hurt a betta? My brother is really attached to his betta, but she's in with cherry barbs and kuhli loaches too. We've actually had one kuhli loach die since treating her, i wonder if that could have been the cause? ):
Hey soda, I don’t have Insta or any other socials other than UA-cam and discord, is there another way I can send in my tank? That’s for reading! Please keep doing what your doing and sending you and your animals all the love from Australia! 🇦🇺🤍🖤
Wait I thought you said we could tag you on stuff if we wanted you to see it or maybe that's something else that I'm thinking about with the people that do cruel stuff with animals
Look. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR A DECENT ENCLOSURE, DON'T BUY A PET. It's that simple. Money should never be an excuse for small unliveable cages (which is an animal abuse in my opinion).
In Australia it is Illegal to release any bread and captive birds into the wild beacuse they would eat there food and mess up the cycle so yes your right renominate is the best, but whoever owns those birds probably won’t do that beacuse most people who have bad tanks or bird cages think there doing everything right.
normalize rehoming animals if you cant take proper care of them
Agreed. If you don't have money to take care of an animal, you shouldn't keep that animal.
Yup
As a person who had a small cage for their budgies (not as small as the person in this video, it was bigger but it was still small), I rehomed the birds. It was a tough decision to make, but it was the best for the birds
That’s so good!!
That sucks, I'm glad you made the right choice in the end though ❤
@@bunnyskye7593 Yeah I tried to find and buy a big enough cage for them, but I didn’t have the money to do so, and saving up to it took too long. I let them free roam the room almost, but it still didn’t make up for the size of the cage. It makes me really happy seeing the pics the new owner sends me, they’re happy being in a small budgie flock and having a big cage
Good decision
i had a small cage for guinea pigs (wasn't incredibly small but now I know it wasn't big enough for them both), and they were rehomed
it was better for them
13:12 FACTS.
“Not having the budget” for a pet means you shouldn’t get the pet, wtf?
fr
my brother got a fairly small cage for a guinea pig (who we gave to someone who would be a better owner) because ",it was in my budget and i wanted her"
and thought the employee at PetSmart knew what he was talking about because he "found mr a cage in my budget"???
so stupid
Exactly my first thought! That's animal abuse.
Just, getting a pet isn't just buying the animal and nothing else. It's a constant investment, like a child or a car. If you can't afford all aspects of getting and caring for that pet, you can't afford the pet
Budgies in my pet stores are 50 dollars a bird, four of them is two hundred bucks. You can get appropriate size bird cages for around that much.
Thank you! :D i’m the person with the last cage i have more toys and rope perches hanging from my ceiling but maybe i forgot to add that, the cage to build was about 100 dollars :) it’s definitely a great option especially if shipping is very expensive in your country like mine :D
Edit: i changed and added a lot of things also the thing on the side of my cage isnt spiderwood, spider wood is actually poisonous to birds. it’s actually a liana vine which is safe :)
Kudos to you! your birds are really lucky to have such a caring owner

(It was the kind of fake plant, it was spikey)
get a tank cycle it with your friend and once the fish come and your tanks ready just steal them😂 they deserve better
My gf’s school has a fishtank with no filter and she’s begged the teacher to get a filter or let her clean the tank and they said no. Schools shouldn’t be allowed to have fish.

Soda, you weren't too harsh at all. As a person who has owned hamsters, canaries, guinea pigs, beta fish, and now cats, I can admit I have made mistakes with pet care in the past. Pet youtube was where I saw what I was doing wrong and how to fix it.
That negative score one was hard to see. I really hope that they hear this and improve the living situation for those poor birds soon!
Soda! Can we get a video with just your bird playing with toys and u giving tips on getting them?
That caramel coloured mouse isn't actually a great colour for mice. The gene responsible A(vy) is linked to obesity, diabetes, and tumours. It's hard to manage since girls are in groups. If you're look for mice and see that colour being expressed it's something to be aware of.
Not blaming the owner at all. I've got a yellow mouse that is an orb.
Wait whaaat that’s crazy I had no idea!
Hi! She's mine, she's one of the rescue girls. So I didn't choose her variety. She's a lovely mouse, but definitely a chonk. I keep an eye on her weight 😊
Yes I've experienced this too
Just wanted to let you know that just because they're unable to mate, or seem "fine/happy/etc" doesn't mean you should keep something that fills them with body chemistry altering hormones meant for a specific short term evolutionary act
thank you for reveiwing my betta's tank, and why what i did dowsnt work. ill be making a trip to the fish store soon! (:

Good job for taking the advice and improving their situation in the future. I wish more pet owners were like you. :)
soda didnt mention but careful with the plastic plants as well they can rip their delicate fins

If this info can reach the people adopting out animals, and those who are taking those animals home, our country would be a much nicer place for pets to reside.
i reverse image searched the budgie one because no way that wasn’t a troll, but there were no matching results 😬
Yikes. I was about to do that. This is really sad, I hope that person can improve their care.
Full hope for the person to put the care in and I understand struggles, but I can't imagine what review that person was expecting from Soda =/
always surprises me when i see the really bad set ups because these people must watch you and probably other petubers so wouldn’t they know their enclosures aren’t suitable? anyways i appreciate how respectful you are when giving advice
@@hailyjohnson407 if they dont know how to set up a cage they shouldnt have gotten animals in the first place

I really hope that 4 budgie cage was a joke.. people actually do that to their birds? That's...literally animal abuse..

It doesn't make much sense to me that rope is considered dangerous because it can cause a blockage, and yet it is recommended to give birds wood, mahogany pods, palm leaf, and other materials that are just as (if not more!) dangerous if ingested.
hi!! im the owner of the first cages.
thank you for letting me know about the sisal ropes!! from my research, they seem like a safe alternative for cotton rope, but i’ll definitely do more research!
as for the coconut hut, i do have two bonded females, but they don’t physically go in the hut themselves. i enjoy using it as a foraging toy, but im definitely keeping an eye on it to make sure they dont become hormonal or start trying to nest or go into the hut, currently the hut has foraging grass that they enjoy pulling out and chewing on.
thank you!
@@minzkaffee2440 oh oof, that’s not good. my cockatiel likes chewing on his seagrass matt, and although he doesnt eat any of it, i’ll definitely have to look into it’s safety and if i should remove it.

idkhow much space tetras need but bettas need 5 gallons and if they put the 3 tetras in with the betta thats half its needed space gone plus bettas are solo fish so its probably stressed out id recommened buying another tank for the tetras

What do you recommend is good for a parakeet?
A parakeet is a budgie
Could be torn fins also (water flow, plastic plants, pointed shells), but finrot is more likely as they have a flow filter (bio sponge filter better for Bettas, less flow), there looks to be no sponge media for beneficial bacteria on the flow filter, so it's just pushing water. But yes they need at least minimum (more is Betta 😀) that amount of space each, what they have is the equivalent of a vase.
Which bird species are the best for first time keepers?
Anything like cockatiels or budgies. If they’re a smaller bird they are usually the easiest to handle.
Look into domestic canaries.
Edit: so I've decided to wait to get all of it until after our schools spring break because I will be at the beach for a whole week and I dont want to rely on my father to take care of it because he has to work and doesnt want to go and wants to get stuff done at the house and dont want him to have to take care of my fish so I will only have the tank, filter, light, and plants
Edit 2: I thought about second hand but then my dad offered his old tank for me which has everything I need except food and plants so thanks dad!
@@Kuro_Reaper Yes! We thought about it more and decided were just gonna get the tank and plants to start cycling (filter and light aswell)!
Java fern is a very good plant to put in the tank, it’s also practically impossible to kill, 🙂
(Anubias nana is a very good plant to :))
@@joaquinriquelme5639 I was thinking of a female betta and a aquatic snail I'm afraid to overstock and I would like to only have 1 fish and a snail at most along with a bunch of vegetation
Hi soda I'm getting 2-3 pet mice well technically african soft fur rats. They're feeders but are letting me get them for pet. I'm so excited.
Even feeder animals can make great pets.

Hey soda I was wondering if you could review the new OMG Tween dolls
I will have a review up of them on the second channel soon!

16 MINUTES AGO?! Wow, I don't think I have been this early to Soda's videos!
edit: But I didn't have time to watch it then. Anyways, thanks for the two likes.
Sorry for going of topic but i just wonder how much it costed for that vocaloid figure collection and there are are utaus too thatcmust be expensive.
if u cant afford to take care of a pet, dont get one.
hey just wanted to let you know, i can see that you have plastic bowls in your bird's "bedroom" (as i like to call them), and i recommend against them as they can easily collect a lot of bacteria, even if it is thoroughly cleaned & looks quite clear. personally i think that stainless steel is the way to go! :)
I actually can’t use stainless steal because one of my birds has an obsession with mirrors due to his previous home, so anything reflective he obsesses over, I tried using stainless steel and even covering the sides but he still found his reflection

Looks like millet
And plastic food bowls
One of the WORST cages I've seen
It's not plastic food bowl it may look like that but it isn't it's a glass bowl
@@wonyzzluver how do you know that? It looks like the plastic bowls that come with the cage to me.
@@livi6886 I know that because I am the owner of those birds
@@wonyzzluver Sorry, I didn't realize that. I hope that you can get a bigger cage for them soon. If you cannot provide adequate space, toys, and perches, I hope that you can find the courage to rehome them.
@@wonyzzluver yes please re-home ur birds if u can't afford them! Ik its sad but it's the best for the birds.
when you said the thing about budgies being territorial i wanted to say that my female budgie once got really territorial because she was nesting and i had a zebra finch with her and she grabbed him from its wing and threw him. when i came to feed then i saw her throwing him and he was bleeding from his neck. i separated him from the buggies. but i didnt get it because she has not layed eggs yet and it has been like 3 - 5 months, but she was showing breeding behavior. if someone knows what is wrong pls let me know
The aggression from budgie female could be just a result of mixing different species of birds.
Wow I’m very early , always loved your vids soda keep up the good work
Could you do more gold fish of fish tanks because I really want a fish.
(Also love the vid)
11:20 thats the same cage that you will use to baby budgie isn't fully grown
I think the budgie is a photo shop they made, doesn't look right?
I almost thought so as well
Ur pets r so cute :))
im looking for a cheap cage on amazon thats a flight cage to upgrade mine but they all have reviews that say they break
Can I use a critter trail as a travel cage if my exotic vet is kinda realy far away?
Your shirt is so cute! >:D
Do spending 24 hours in your birdroom!!
I already do that every day lol
soon i might be getting a pet idk what one but if i do ill try send you the setup!
Part 2 pls
Question: do you review ferret cages? Also storytime, yesterday while buying toys at petco , I saw a little boy, probably not even 8 years old, walking out with 2 bettas and a literal teeny tiny fish bowl and nothing else. Those poor fish probably won't even last a week. Parents, stop letting your little children get pets especially if you won't help care for them when the kid gets bored of them.
Do you know anything about kittens? My family recently got a white Persian kitten, he is ADORABLE, but I was wondering if you've ever dealt with kittens, maybe trying to get them along with other animals like other cats and dogs, I'll I'll my own research, I just wanted to ask cause I figured why not
10:51 if this person is a follower.. what is doing? I mean this person can clearly see that you have very big cages...and does this? What? And this too 5:33
I see u posting late lol i live in a nearby timezone
Anyone have insight?
it can mess up certain species of fish's organs
@@pauldanoassshark4796 Will it hurt a betta? My brother is really attached to his betta, but she's in with cherry barbs and kuhli loaches too.
We've actually had one kuhli loach die since treating her, i wonder if that could have been the cause? ):
I thought you only had two birbs ;w;
"Cecil" rope?
Hey soda, I don’t have Insta or any other socials other than UA-cam and discord, is there another way I can send in my tank? That’s for reading! Please keep doing what your doing and sending you and your animals all the love from Australia! 🇦🇺🤍🖤
Wait I thought you said we could tag you on stuff if we wanted you to see it or maybe that's something else that I'm thinking about with the people that do cruel stuff with animals
When are you doing another reacting to tiktoks video? I tagged u in one ☺️
Look. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR A DECENT ENCLOSURE, DON'T BUY A PET. It's that simple. Money should never be an excuse for small unliveable cages (which is an animal abuse in my opinion).
Is it normal for a bird to be on the bottom of the cage dancing
if it’s at the bottom of the cage too much it might be sick and the dancing might just it regurgitating
@@azlox5564 oh ill try taking him to the vet then
@@Amiahs_Gold is there any other signs that it might be sick? like mucus on the feathers , less appetite, drinking more water, less active etc?
@@azlox5564 no just that
@@Amiahs_Gold oh ok then it shouldn’t be worrisome maybe you could add more perch options and it will want to go up more :>
When I say the budgie cage I was VERY concerned, I know your not meant to release budgies but it may be better for them in there tiny as cage
I'd say rehoming is safer, cause releasing them would just get them killed if the climate isn't appropriate, which isn't much better...
In Australia it is Illegal to release any bread and captive birds into the wild beacuse they would eat there food and mess up the cycle so yes your right renominate is the best, but whoever owns those birds probably won’t do that beacuse most people who have bad tanks or bird cages think there doing everything right.
Off topic, but if you haven't already can you do a video showing off your entire collection?
