I remember this album. My dad had the cassette. From what I read on the credits, this session was recorded in the mid-late 1960's but was shelved until 1976. Drummer is Billy Cobham, Piano is Herbie Hancock and Bass is Ron Carter.
This is a sampler/compilation album. George Benson recorded two albums on the Verve label: Giblet Gravy & Goodies. Both albums were recorded in 1968. All tracks are from those two Verve albums. I have already uploaded the Giblet Gravy album but have yet to upload the Goodies album.
I had this album in vinyl. I lent it to someone and never got it back. For whatever reason, it’s not listed on Benson’s discography nor is it available on any streaming or download services. Thanks for posting.

Yeah, great album ! Bought it when it came out (Dad turned me on to his first two records in the sixties - on one of his business trips to nyc he went to a club in Harlem to hear him, sitting in the front row, a few feet from him!). I recorded Billies Bounce to my reel-to-reel so I could learn that incredible solo. To my ears, if all he’d ever recorded was Billies Bounce, and then decided to change careers, he go down as one of the greatest of all time. A perfect example of melodic in/outside playing.

I still have this on LP: one of my remaining 50 VIP records, whittled down from 2500 just a few years ago.
Getting down to 50 must have been difficult.
