Thank you for your honest opinion. I already have a laser cutter and I’m just looking to be a very small hobby seller so thank you for helping with my buyer’s remorse. I feel better now.
Can you achieve a similar result with ANY laser cutter? I bought a 16x16” one off Amazon for school before getting into screenprinting and was wondering if I can get by with that. It’s a 20 Watt. I guess alignment could be an issue, but shouldn’t it be possible w any regular laser engraver if you optimize it correctly?
@@richardmartinez5040I’ve been wondering the same thing, should be able to easily setup a jig for repeatability.
I just got the multiple color kit. Can’t wait to try it out. On a side note, I think you mean “Super Fast” in your thumbnail for this video, not “Supper” - that’s the meal.
I tried to make it sound like “supper Mario “ like with a Mexican accent …. But I guess it didn’t lolz
Does it work good?
I dont know who needs to hear this, but…. this idea is significantly more complicated and less efficient than just doing it the right way. Objectively speaking, you will NEVER start a screen printing business like this. This is not an opinion, this is a fact based on simple math. To give a comparison, this is like someone opening a lemonade stand, seeing that everyone else squeezes the lemons and then decides that hes going to run his lemons over with a car. Yes you are achieving the goal of getting juice from a lemon. But youre doing it in the absolute OBJECTIVELY worst way possible.
What you cooking for *'super'?*

cooking the screen lolz
The Last Supper
Couldn’t somebody hypothetically just coat and burn their own screens using the clamp frames and avoid the expensive laser system?
Screen printer here... you should leave the black screen until last. It hides any mis-registration.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Very well explained... keep it up.. looking forward to watching many more
Amazing content dude, for real, your passion is shinning through, thanks for this.
I appreciate that!
I ended up not purchasing this after listening to a professional, thank you very much!!!
Cool honest opinion! I just saw an ad for the product and was curious about what it did so I watched your setup and final comments. Now I'm intrigued. I like that you can print more with a regular screen print setup. But also like the "boutique" idea of this modern device. Maybe for small production or one-offs.
I hate to say this but I recommend this. They make better machines that cost 25k that burn screens in 5 seconds; not 2 hours. It’s easier to do it the traditional way.
I'm a bit confuse you recommended it or you don't.
@@myloprints not this product you have. Anatol and other companies have screen making machines that that 5 seconds to make a design no matter how big
@@moshemcnally2970 The xtool is a machine for home users. I am fairly sure, none of those wants to pay 25k - for just the exposure unit. You'd still need film-positive printers, frames, drying racks, tools to coat the mesh and so on.
If you do it as business, sure. But I'd rather pay rent for three years instead of buying that professional equipment.
Eh? 25k vs $250. Are you ok?
@@markm49 time is worth more then being cheap bro, 2 hours for a few screen is dog shit
Can you do halftones with it?
Bullshit. They claim the traditional.lrocess talked 24 to 48 hours? Nonsense. I (and every other experienced printer) can go from Corel Draw image on monitor screen to printing it through an exposed washed and dried silkscreen within 2 hours. Less if you use a warm dry air fan. I respect Milo, he knows a lot, but this is just an ad.
Can you tell us the brand and model of your screen printing set up ( the one in the back not the x1too). Thanks
Mylo love your videos - keep going man!
Glad you like them!
This is one honest to goodness feedback. The rest are just crappy and more like a lick a** review. More power Bro!
Seeing how it’s used by an experienced printer, and see it still fails in some way, I’ll pass. As a hobbyist who prints one to three times a year, I’ll go with iron ons for now.
the most expensive way to do it. non reusable screens @ four bucks apiece.
Always enjoy your videos. Very informative. Thanks and keep up the good work and God bless
Thank you God Bless ❤️🙌
@myloprints would love a video on what's best application for different material types ie: 100% cotton, 100% poly, high poly blend, high cotton blend
great video but I don't get it, is the screen meshed allowing the color going through or is the laser creating the mesh where the color will go through
Could we use plastisol ink on this ?
Yes check out the next videos on this starter kit I have a play list I explain more stuff there.
this takes forever. Get this starter kit and start your brand if you want to never start anything. After passing paint for 50 items how is the tension in the makeshift screen? Where are you if you have an order of 100 and the tension is gone on the screen midway? Who wants to deal with that? however unlikely it may be to happen it is 100% more likely than a traditional method of printing. How many prints do you get before having to make another screen? I love poking holes in those that think they have reinvented the wheel. Stick to the paths most traveled and forget that fancy laser that takes hours. I can shoot, rinse and register at least 3 screens on the press before you are done with the first. Exposing a screen takes two minutes if you are forgetting that you had a timer set for a minute and a half. Rinsing takes less than a minute to get wet. 3 minutes can be spent doing other things while the emulsion is getting ready to be sprayed out. Actual spraying takes 10 minutes if you still suck. Drying takes time but other things can be done in the interim so no time is lost. Now pass paint and never worry about having to reframe in the middle of a job or take the time to do a three color job as long as if you were doing 3 one color jobs. If you want this in a biblical sense then here it is. There is no need for tho to follow the false profits of laser users when actual screen printers don't use them. Tho shalt not use unsustainable print methods. Stick to the traditional way or get reared by these impractical nuances.
I'm gay
Not reading that
Bet you still get movies from Blockbuster
Don't be afraid of change, this is the impression of the future, if you don't want to use it yourself, let others use it, don't scare the beginner.
Very nice, but I also see it very long and very limited with all that time it takes to place the mesh and send the design would already have more than 5 meshes blocked and revealed. Sincerely. In that case, a Goccopro would be better suited.
Supper? English much?
Actually I know more than just one language…. So sorry if I misspelled a word.
That thing is only good for spot colors. Not for multicolor half tones for high detail images or photographs
can we use a diy frame? like making smaller frames for clear cup printing
This is the best evaluation I've seen of the X-Tool screen printer. Thank you! I own both the laser and the screen printer. I just did a job for someone and had exactly the same problems that you described. I was trying to do a fine image and it got clogged repeatedly.
Hi . I need to get more info about this Lazer cutter. please
But where’s the supper?
these coated screens are expensive.. like $10 each..
Great video. I want this to be a hobby. About 30 years ago, I used to do screen printing, but this is really an amateur type of fun. Quick question what do you suggest as t-shirts to print on?
Gildan is the number one manufacturer for t shirts in the world... They have different quality levels as well
Thank you for this video. I finally had the courage to use that kit.(I had it in a box for a month)
It is great for people that have laser engravers(like me), but because i got only one frame, it was difficult to do multi color.I think further down the line if printing kicks off I might stick to your tradiional methods.I didn't even think about the meshpart, so thank you for that point.
I spoke to customer service an hour ago. They do not have a screen release date yet. Thats super unfortunate. My kit came with 3 but I know I'm going to need at least 5 for my project. Now I'm on youtube looking up alternative screens.
Xtool DID say you can use some sort of solvent to dissolve the .. im forgetting the word but the blue coating and then use a normal coating to reapply to reuse the screen with a new design.
Emulsion is the coating...
cant you use a different ink and just get a flash dryer?
Does it taste good? It's supper fast...
Grwat video is the screen made for burning? Does it come with the green thing over it? Send a link to purchase the screen please
Link is in my bio
Thank. you for the helpful information... I have both setups you have but since I also have the laser decided to try this too
I remember learning about silk screening in high school. It was 1996 and we had a machine that would automatically burn your screens. You would feed a black ink copy of your image sandwiched with a special pre-emulsified screen sheet (8.5x11). No washing or rinsing required. I've been searching for that machine, but with no luck.
"Supper fast"? Yes, but is it BREAKfast??
Lolz
Water based inks are easy to manage and clean, but the prints fade so much more than plastisol that it is a difference between night and day. Definitely healthier to use, but an inferior product. If you want to screen print, buy a real multi-color screenprinting press and drier. You can have local shops burn screens for you that will last for years if handled properly.
Pound for pound, this system is an absolute waste of money with inferior print durability- and they over-charge for extra screens, inks and frames. This is a fad that will end up costing you way more than $250.
Let someone else be the Guinea pig.
Thanks for the video!
Your videos are the best breakdown/ review of this this xTOOL screen print starter kit ever.
I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this review because it gave me so much clarity on this piece of equipment and you gave some great advice and showed why we should use the Plastisol ink instead of the water based ink with the screen printing. This would definitely be for me, not only because of my space but also my time.
Wonderful job!!
The big problem is that the mesh screen is not reusable and costs increase because you have to buy more mesh screen for other designs.
Very true .. I believe you can save the same mesh and reuse it with the same print … but for other prints yes you have to use a brand new one.
can you etch on other things iwth this machine? could you etch on actual shirts at a really low power setting? could be cool if it does some fabric discoloration at really low power.
People in this business are creative in many ways and do bunch of stuffs. But now we know that we can burn the design with laser machine. May be sign/ Print shops who already have laser machine can do experiments with their machine … 😊
Can the xtool frame work on your Kruzer. In their promotion, they showed the frames clamped on a traditional press.
Can the frames be used on a multi-arm rotary instead of having to change out the frame for each color for every product?
I like the idea of burning the screens but using the single frame fixture seems really tedious. But if they can be mounted onto a standard rotary, then we’re getting somewhere.
Just got the same kit today and wanted to mentally prep for my first print - I’ll be referencing this (and gotta check out part 1/unboxing) a couple more times as I get into it, thanks for the help! 😊
Hi. In regards to plastisol what do you recommend. I’m new to all. Also can you use puff additive?
hey brother i just got this do you feel like the ink stays within the shirt after it gets washed over time? i got this to make shirts for my brand and i would hate that it were to fade the logo if people washed it alot over time
As long as you cured the ink correctly it should outlast the life of the T-shirt
@@myloprints i just commented on your first video please let me know brother thanks subscribed
Now this has me interested. I have 3 large Co2 lasers and if they could be used to make the designs onto the screens instead of the inkjet printer and curing etc that would be fantastic. Seems that the curing would need to be done before a design was put on then the laser burns out the emulsion? Wonder about the effect on the screen fibers though. I dont have THIS screen printing equipment, and we are just starting out, but using a laser for our designs would be amazing.
They never say where to buy more sheets… the the screen printing machine is .. but when I run out of sheets and want to refill it for new images… make videos for where to buy and show … please thank u
They just released this press like a month ago. So I really don’t know what they have for the future but I’m assuming they will add more stuff to their website pretty soon .., but I will ask.

hi, first thx for the video, I would like to kmow where did you bought the black plastic tool to lock the printing screen in the middle under the laser plz
Hey! I’m really digging you vids. How’s the smell when you burn a screen with the laser?
You are the first user I've seen who has some screen printing experience and the first one to flood the screen before the print. :-)
Sorry I've never screen printed before. I was looking at getting this set up as a starter. Is there no other screens you could use. Like they don't offer higher or lower screens on the website? Just using the water base seems like a hassle.
We print with water based ink on 45 to 52 with very detailed designs and its working just fine
To check if you have correct tension, you need a newton reader The best tension is around 24 Newton's. And there's no way you can tighten that screen more down. On that tiny frame
Great review I was intrigued by this starter kit but it’s going to be a hard pass for the price point and limitations for a small business.
Can laser engraver cut design with the normal emulsion screen. Please let me know
This video is so helpful. THANK YOU. I am technologically challenged and use a Glowforge, so I was very nervous about the XTool. Not many helpful tutorials. And zeroooo comments on my posts in XTool groups. Gonna run my ass over to watch your other video mentioned.
What did you mean by not flooding the screen correctly when it went wrong on the t-shirt? Did you not flood it and just pulled the ink over...?
Do you think or know if they have higher mesh screens?
good question. I really don't know but i have a feeling they will. Remember they just came out with the starter kit last month.
The only thing they've mentioned so far is smaller frames and meshes for smaller lasers, but nothing about the mesh density.
Supper fast?
Firme 👌🏾
Thank you!
Great Video! Is it possible to reclaim the screens? Is it worth it? If you were going to do it what products would you recommend? I have dabbled in screen printing in the past, so I have some experience. I just ordered this set up for all the reason you mentioned. I have limited space in my office, time and I’m a hobbyist. I also already have a laser.
Burning the design is one of the easiest parts though... Just print on transfer paper, and use a light to burn the image onto the screen.
Tired of it yet?
Can I take a photo of my canvas painting and upload it to print?
Nice to finally see a review from an experienced printer. I've seen too many videos by people who don't know how to run a laser or spread ink on a screen. XTool now has frames and screens for sale on their website. They claim their screens can be stripped and recoated with regular emulsion and reburned with the laser. One can always stay busy with other tasks during a long laser run. Single screen prints that don't need registration can be removed from the screens to make fewer frames necessary.
You’ve answered my question about fiber mesh emulsion. I wondered if the emulsion was essentially regular silk screen emulsion but without the sensitizer. No reason why you couldn’t use finer mesh screens. Might be a bit fiddly but once you got it, shouldn’t be problem. Hand you tried to expose a regular screen emulsion with the laser. Not sure if the correct screen is more resilient than typical silk. You could also speed things up, if you wish by using a stronger (more powerful) laser so you can increase the scanning rate. A very large image could take longer than the traditional approach. Lot of potential here!
@@en2oh Now this has me interested also. I have 3 large Co2 lasers and if they could be used to make the designs onto the screens instead of the inkjet printer and curing etc that would be fantastic. @@MatthewBasaraba this is my question. Have you tried it yet? Has anyone used a regular screen with a laser engraver with success?
You can honestly cut almost everything with the laser (well to a point) but the question would be if the chemical on the regular screen would pose a threat when exposed to the laser..
Thanks brother! Great review!
If you watch some youtube videos on the laser they are lasering directly on the shirts too...
yo... used to screenprint in the past and trying to get back into it... deff glad I found this channel brother.
Is there any way you can use plasticol ink instead of water based ink with this press?
How fine is the thinnest line you can screen print? on T-Shirt material.
Hey how do you clean this screen and make it ready for the next design?
I really appreciate your honesty. really earned a sub cause of that
Wondering if you could make some higher mesh for this and would loce to see you do a recoat on this and see how it does after?
Price of this laser engraver?
Love this. You are awesome! I bought this for hobby printing to use with my laser. Gifts and giveaways and its grreat except for not being able to buy different mesh. I don’t want to do screen printing as a job so this has been awesome. Have learned so much from you overall. Thanks for sharing.
have you washed any t-shirts and does the ink stay on after washing
thank you
Thanks for a great video. Can reuse the screen again in your laser. Can you add the stuff back on the screen to use it again with different design ?
I have an xTool M1 and I'm looking at getting this screen printing kit. I'm curious, though... I haven't seen anyone cover what happens when you take the screens off of the frame. Can you put them back on to use them again in the future?
if you haven't got your answer, yes its possible but its definitely a bitch n a half without the piece of cardboard the screens come with, i haven't tried adding some kinda backer myself to alleviate that
Great video showing how to use the kit and explanations of the various processing steps. Do you know if a different type of ink can be used that will help stop the drying of the ink on the screen like the water based inks?
You're a cool cat, cuz. Appreciate all you do. Best of luck for whatever you do ✊🏻
Fast dinner? Supper fast, not super fast?
Nope it’s … SUPPER FAST lolz
@@myloprints Well, supper is slow here, to make and to eat.
You didn't go into what was all included in the box…. No unboxing or info…
Check our first video, this is part 2… hope it helps ..
Thanks!
Hi what’s the laser screen printer called. These are great videos!
Did you have to put each screen in the frame every time you put on a color. So three screen frame changes each shirt?
I don’t understand your question …. So it’s a 3 color designs which means that I use 3 screens to create that print. Same T-shirt.
But where to buy more sheets for making images
Can you burn designs on your own screens?
Thanks for the info and tips sir great video
you are suppose to be able to clean the screen and re coat it like your other screens.
This is ONE of the many failings dealing with this IMO
❤
🙌❤️😁
What wattage is your laser?
I wonder if you can put the finished screen on a regular press?
No you can’t it won’t fit ..
Great video keep it up ! !
What do you guys think of laser Printing ?
This not a good solution.
This could be what I need because of the space I have 😊. Thanks for the video Mylo 👍 but I have to wait and save money to get it 😂
Thank a for the support ❤️🙌…
