I have had the ryobi unit for a couple of years. It does a fantastic job and super light weight. I struggle with heavy equipment these days due to chemo, so the light weight is a god send. Time spent on my lawn is so therapeutic.
Hi Ben I run stihl scraifiers.. I find it helps to lift the exit flap up a little with a bungee cord or a little bit of strimmer cable.. then it wont bog down as much
I have Buff and bought a mains powered Draper unit from Total Tools for $250 bucks. Comes with the grooming/dethatching reel. Switched the scarifier attachment over for that reel and it pretty much got rid of all the thatch while keeping the runners intact. 100% the way to go for dethatching Buffalo safely.
I literally just bought this for my front and back garden. It worked great. I found walking extremely slow without the catcher really helped with the cutting out issue. Great product imo
lol in Cananda i just did a fall dethatch, top dress, over seed, and fert, getting ready for it to go dormant over the winter, love to see the opposite
I just got a predator domestic scarifyer for my birthday. It is obviously a petrol one. Does an awesome job but still clogs up inside, so I put a strap holding the catcher up. Comes with the two reels aswell which is so convenient
I have the other brand, not sure if I'm allowed to mention (rhymes with Kenobi) 36V and it has never bogged down like that on the lowest setting, albeit I'm scarifying couch. It drags me forward! Great vid again!
@@LawnTips Legend. I have a gripe though; you need to bring back that royalty free music soundtrack where it's like 🎵"something something be responsible" 🎵 That was a banger from the early days! 😂
Great video mate. I’ve bought a property in WA and it’s got QLD blue couch out the front. It hasn’t been renovated at all and I reckon this lawn has been here for 10+ years. I’ve bought an Ozito 36v scarifier and did a test patch and it works a treat. Now my question is, how low/hard should I scalp for my renno? It’s got a decent thatch layer and I’m wondering if it can handle a complete scalp right down to dirt, or should I do a medium renno and then another renno in a couple months time.
Hey mate. They are Ultimate Ears. Intended for musicians in loud settings to stop sound bleeding in. Block out so much more than my AirPods. If you are interested in something similar, I got them from acustoms.com.au
I have question, we have just had a landscaper in who had laid topsoil over weedmatt then seeded. The topsoil looks like it’s only a inch or 2 in some places. Will the lawn suffer from this and will it need topdressing to add more soil to rooting?
Can the renovation process be done over 3 weeks?? Just with work, availability of equipment and things im not going to be able to get it done, The coring machine I have a 3 hour return trip to go and pick it up
Just wondering if you could do a review on the new Stihl battery sprayer. It's very expensive, i would be interested in your thoughts on the unit before making a purchase on one.
Great vid dude! How does this compare to other battery units? Also, would you go something like this, or a predator petrol scarifier? Weighing up which way to go before my Reno in the coming weeks
There you go haha. I’m not sure they are sending them around as a marketing thing. Wasn’t like that with me anyway. It was just through Hutcheon and Pearce. They guys who supply my mowers and construction gear
Mate how tf is your Kik that green already?? I'm in Bathurst and mine is only just starting to show tinges of green around the house where it's a bit insulated.. We've had sub zero mornings 3 of the past 5 days (neg 4 a week or so ago), I thought Orange would be worse..
The timing is impeccable, I’m in the car waiting for the misses to get her brows done 😍
Sounds exciting mate haha
I think this would be a bit too dangerous to use on eyebrows.
😂😂

I literally just did the same thing to my lawn this past weekend. Put some grass seed and starter fert down afterwards.

Brilliant machine. I have one for my gardening business.
You should try pinning the back hatch open on the de thatcher so the thatch is coming out the back. The machine will be able to keep up better.
So glad I brought a draper.

My Ryobi one is awesome too and does what you said too, drags me forward 😂
Same here. The little Ryobi is a weapon. Surprises everyone who uses it.
Another ryobi user over here.
Those UE custom moulds scream church musician 😂❤️
You got me 😂
😂💯
bought the ryobi dethatcher to get ready for my reno, just wondering if you recommend doing a pass in both directions?
Really wish EGO comes out with it as well cause I’m already on that infrastructure!
*waiting waiting*
So am I, and I'm on the fence about buying a scarifier but want an ego one!
Did you use the blades or the tines for this demonstration??

Last Aussie 😁. Ben , a great hands on review. 🤠
What ear buds are you running there and would you recommend them for a contractor? Do they cancel enough noise?

All moulded to your ear though. Pretty crazy!

Would scarifying SWB at the highest setting work?
I have a Husqvarna device with 2 Batteries which is better.😁
Ben, what's the price range of the Stihl?
I’m in Victoria. My lawn still hasn’t started to grow again yet. Should I wait until activity growth before using this
Hi Ben do you not sell the growth mats anymore?
Isn't the spring tines cartridge purely just a power rake and only clears debris up and does not dethatch?
Great vid dude! How does this compare to other battery units? Also, would you go something like this, or a predator petrol scarifier? Weighing up which way to go before my Reno in the coming weeks
Is there a max temperature that you would not do this sort of work ie. scarifying?
Check out the in-ears. What a boss
has the winter been longer than other winters?
Hi mate,
Are you saying not to use that on Buffalo?
Waiting for a battery powered corer…
looks shiny
Stihl busy sending our their scarifers I see.
Someone else did a vid on one?
@@LawnTips haha, yeah I came to this video directly after Turf and Tools

Didn't you scalp, scarify and top dress this lawn about 4 weeks ago? How are you still getting that much thatch out of it?
Nah was just a scalp 👌🏽
No worries cheers mate@@LawnTips
Schnitty!
