So for the second song they basically play the entire sheet music backwards, note for note. The only things that are different are the drums and the lyrics (vocal melody is the same though). They also added a choir for the second song. You can find videos online where people reversed the video and it still sounds the same. Pretty mindblowing.
For the next reaction to them I recommend "Phantom Blood" (live).
If you play Cadaver backwards you can hear Revadac and the same for Revadac, the only change is the lyrics but it is to admire the musical talent of Unlucky Morpheus to create a piece like this. By the way if you want to hear their full potential check the song Angreifer or 断罪は遍く人間の元に (live both)
Not exactly, if you play the song backwards it will sound as any other song played backwards. They aren't just reversing the songs, they are playing the notes from the sheet from end to beginning.
All the guitars, violin and the vocal melody is the exact same played backwards. Drums fills and some drum parts aren't and actual lyrics aren't (although the meaning is reversed).
The video has been both forward and in reverse for the entire video for both CADAVER and REVADAC.
There is a version with the actual music notations of the sheet music in the video that you can follow. Also If you literally reverse the song in an editing software it still sounds the same if you don't pay attention to the drums and lyrics

Yes, "Unlucky Morpheus" is outstanding band! You could check all their songs. All are awesome, but I mostly like live videos, and they are even better live! My favorite live videos are: Dignity of Spirit, Angrifier and Tower of Blood. But, really...I like them very much! Especially Fuki, of course! 🙂

@@DrumRollTonyReacts The first one was their biggest concert (~2000 attendance) to date back in Oct 2021, and then two smaller venues (~200) this year (3 total in the last 12 months). They kicked a$$ and I enjoyed the small venues much more. The drummer Fumia is a beast!! I first discovered Galneryus and then it led me to UM, Lovebites, Band-Maid, Nemophila and Passcode!
Band-maid is coming to Seattle in Oct (I am from Kitsap county and currently reside in Japan) as you probably already know! Hope you get to see them LIVE! My next concert will be Passcode and Band-Maid!! Check out Galneryus (Angel of Salvation, Force of Courage LIVE version) if you haven't!!

Unlucky Morpheus is one of the best melodic speed metal bands in the world, their musicians are excellent, especially their drummer named Fumiya, he is a beast and also the violinist named Jill, focus on these 2, the vocalist named Fuki is a legend in Japan and without a doubt the best metal vocalist there, I would recommend you to see their songs live because they are amazing, I would like to enjoy and recommend to you another super band from Japan called Dir En Grey, they play experimental progressive metal and their vocalist is one of best in the metal world, from the drummer point it would be interesting to check out the song Kiri to mayu live from Kaya's channel, the drummer really shines in this song. see you later and greetings!

But vocal melody lines are backwards, lyrics are related in between first song and second song.

You found UM. I can't wait for you to do a live reaction of them. To me it seems like Japan picked up metal dusted it off and have new life. Where the rest of the world left it behind 10 years ago. Fuki the vocalist is the visual producer for so their material. She's an excellent composer and has over a decade of projects she bands she's been a part of including her own solo project. She's amazing. The entire band is amazing. Thank you for the great reaction.
Here is my understanding as a non-music guy: The visuals of the music video was played backwards for REVEDAC. The basic melody is reversed for REVEDAC and the guitar and violin notes are played in reverse. Fuki, the lead singer, sings a different set of lyrics for REVEDAC. I'm not sure what the drums are doing. Someone else can fill out the details or let me know where I might be wrong.
The lyrics for CADAVER seem to be about a vampire who dies and is turned to red ashes in a stone container although reference is made as well to his body turning into a precious stone. The vampire, in death, suggests that in time a miracle will occur. In REVEDAC, the story reverses and the vampire, or someone else, is brought back to life. Once again, others may be able to better fill in the story and details if I am off anywhere.

This song is played live in both CADAVER and REVEDAC version back to back. It's quite a spectacle. I'm not sure if the two played back to back can be found on YT right now though. I have the performances on Blu-ray and they are spectacular. Unlucky Morpheus is great live.
Angreifer is a good second choice.
Revadac is absolutely Cadaver played backwards, with some adjustments made for logical and practicality reasons.
She even sing the first lyrics of Revadac backwards.

They do have a sheet music video version! All the notes vocally and instrumentally (minus drums) are played perfectly backwards in revadaC!
I have to say that my favorite video of theirs is their live cover of 'Eruption' (Van Halen) & 'Dance of Eternity' ( Dream Machine). Instrumental only. No singer or second guitar. They are known as 'Quadratum' in this format.
Jill, on the violin, plays the guitar parts on Eruption, & the keyboard parts on Dance of Eternity. Sensational. As are the other guys. So tight for a live performance.

The only things that are not backwards are the drums and the lyrics, well the last line in Cadaver is in German, and it is in reverse as the 1st line in Revadac, but other wise everything else is backwards. Here is a video with the sheet music ua-cam.com/video/_yrNRhIreyE/v-deo.html
The video: they have mixed up as well parts of Cadaver are reversed and put in Revadac and the same the other way around. It's something you do not really see to begin with, but your brain realises something is wrong when Revadac starts. Watch it a few times and you'll start to see it more.
This song came about after Shiren saw a newspaper article about a Swiss company that was turn peoples ashes in to diamonds, which is what Cadaver is about. Revadac is about someone that wanted to turn one of those diamonds of someone they loved, back in to a person.
So that is why the name is reversed.
Why did they do it?.. Well because they could and thought it would be fun to do it. Oh!! and yes they do play them live, one after the other.

Just to add to what Maximus Haughton was mentioning, there is a sub-division of UM named QUADRATUM that does instrumental covers with a lot of the emphasis on the violin. They have released one album so far and have around 7 or so MVs covering the instrumental stuff. Basically Fuki (singer) and Shiren (guiter) are missing but everyone else is present
Maximus has the most accurate description. To add to that, the video is actually backwards for both songs as well as neither. True, when the song changes the name flips and the video plays in reverse. But if you really watch it, you'll notice that during BOTH songs there are instances where it's backwards. You can see hair moving before their heads move. Other times, it's normal. During both songs. Also, you'll notice during both that there are times when the words that Fuki is singing don't match the way her mouth is going. That same moment, in the other half of the video, will line up because she's singing the lyrics to the other song. Mute the sound, and the video is absolutely exactly backwards.
This should help you understand. This is the entire video played backwards. And if you really want to blow your mind, play both this inverted version and the one you reacted to together, starting at exactly the same time.

It's somewhat difficult to explain, but hopefully this helps:
Only the lyrics and drums are changed as far as I have read and heard. All the melodies (including the vocal melodies) are re-recorded from back to front in Redevac. It's not just the audiotrack that is reversed. So they basically wrote two songs in one as far as melodies go, play them from back to front in the Redevac part (which is basically it's own song), add different drumparts and vocalist Fuki sings different lyrics on top of the reversed vocal melodies.
The video with sheet music (that is mentioned in other comments) makes it way more obvious, I don't really get why people don't request that video instead of the MV. It makes people less confused. Really liked your reaction though.

The sheet music one is easy to miss since the original has over a million views and the sheet music version has a bit over 200k. I think Unlucky Morpheus probably should have only released the sheet music version, but not much we can do. I believe most reactors get requests for the original you got, it doesn't detract from the reaction at all but it's just easier to see what's going on in the sheet music version.

You have to check out Unlucky Morpheus live as well. Their stage presence is amazing. I also recommend you three videos with covered songs: Eruption (Van Halen), The Dance of Eternity (Dream Theater) and Far Beyond The Sun (Yngwie Malmsteen). With these songs, Jill can really let off steam on the violin.

Another 'late' comment - you may or not ever read this, so I'll be brief. You asked if there were any Easter Eggs - Yes! In Cadaver there are places where Fuki's mouth doesn't match-up to what she is singing - BUT they match up during Revadac - and some of the parts she sang during Cadaver don't match up. So, when they did Revadac, Fuki and Fumiya (drums) re-recorded their parts, and those parts were blended in the video. There is a Live video of them playing the two songs back-to-back in front of a crowd which, as a musician, both boggles and blows my mind.
Congrats on finding Unlucky Morpheus-one of the best, most creative bands in the world today. They remain independent by choice, in order to retain complete artistic freedom. They started off in 2008, focused on making soundtracks to video games and anime. They went through a lot of different stylistic phases, but the big transformation was when they brought Jill (violin) on board. Like many Japanese bands, they sound incredibly clean and tight live. Meanwhile, amid the (justified) excitement over the Japanese all-female metal bands, we forget there are plenty of guys who throw down. Shiren, founder and one of the guitarists, also does the growls. Fumiya (Drums) is, as you saw, insane and inexhaustible-one of the best rock drummers in the world. Jinya (G) and Ogawa (B) are top-notch as well. Basically, this band is a technical monster. Fumiya and Ogawa also have interesting, “beast” personae which contrast with the “beauty” of Fuki and Jill. That contrast is a deliberate trope, similar to the “Beauty and the Beast” imagery of many European symphonic metal bands.
Fuki (lead singer) is a legend in Japan, and one of the busiest artists anywhere. She is also lead singer for UM, Doll$boxx, Lightbringer and her own ongoing project, Fuki Commune. Her style is very much out of the Japanese classical tradition, with the oversold vibrato and intense high notes. She collaborates with a lot of the top musical talents in Japan. Jill (violin) also has a busy dance card, including collaborations with Fuki and others outside of UM.
Jill is actually my favorite member of Unlucky Morpheus. I consider her the best rock/jazz/metal violinist in the world today, and probably the best since Jean-Luc Ponty. After Shiren (founder, original lead guitarist) started suffering from an injury that limits his playing, they rewrote a lot of his solos for Jill. I saw UM live in London in 2019, when they headlined Metal Matsuri. Great show, and the chemistry between Fuki and Jill was electric.
there's a version with the sheet music at the bottom that shows how they reverse the melody. they trade some parts between the vocals and instruments to make it more coherent as a new song, but obviously the solos are straight up played backwards. if you watch carefully you can usually tell which shots are reversed in which half, mostly by hair and clothes movement, although it's legitimately difficult with the closeups because they're basically playing both parts.
my favorite of theirs is Black Pentagram, which has a bit of a more raw Metal sound, but everything they do is unreasonably good. Fuki's voice is too damn strong. she also has an all-female Funk Metal band, Doll$Boxx, with the members of all-female Prog-Pop band, Gacharic Spin. check out Take My Chance by Doll$Boxx. you will not be disappointed.
The drummer is also a good indicator of what shots are backwards. Because even though everyone just mimes playing their instruments in music videos, he's more often than not flailing wildly because he's reversed lol.
Yes they are playing Cadaver backwards to get Revadac. I reversed the audio file for Cadaver and it sounds like Revadac. (I think there is a reversed version on UA-cam.) A number of people have reacted to this song on UA-cam but very few realize what is going on. The human brain is not designed to hear sounds reversed in time, at least for most people.
My favorites are Unending Sorceress, Knight of Sword, Angreifer, and their cover of Dance of Eternity by Dream Theater. They also have drum playthroughs of some songs by their drummer Fumiya.
There is some clever word play in the second part, please note that the syllables are permuted in the key words of each line:

Think of the score as a musical palindrome instead of trying to think of the song as reversed, the first and last notes are the same, the second note and the second before last etc until you meet in the middle

Also the vocalist (Fuki) has a song of her own, with amazing guitarist from another band (Galneryus) called REASON, this song kills 10x more than the one in this video.
Geez Tony, you were already on the Event Horizon, with Unlucky Morpheus (aka Ankimo) you have crossed into the Black Hole. Cadaver is a song about realizing you are dead, Revadac is about being magically reborn. Melody and Instrumentals are played in Reverse in Revadac, but the drum parts are redone and lyrics are different and about the Rebirth. And YES they CAN and DO play the two songs together LIVE (the talent here is not even ON the charts). On some of Cadaver Fuki looks wrong, because she is singing the Revadac part. Some of the video is backwards but the close ups of Fumiya (drums) and Fuki (vocals) are redone to make her mouth match the Lyrics. It reminds me of Lovebites. But the difference is, lovebites, don't sound so static. The transitions are noticeably static, right? As if everything is quantized to the exact beat. As if it were robots playing. I somehow miss the living thing. But, great musicians, there is no doubt about it.

j'ai vu passé une vidéo ou un mec passe la vidéo originale à l'envers et effectivement ça sonne pas pareil. En fait, ils joue les 2 morceaux en live, et si les solo sont l'exact inverse la batterie et les riff sont bien sur adaptés. Mais quelle prouesse de composition !
C'est le guitariste roux qui est le compositeur (Shiren) et la chanteuse (Fuki très connue au japon) qui fait les textes. ce sont deux histoire complémentaires, mais leur univers est un peu barré, je suis pas fan de satanisme et il joue sur cette fibre malheureusement.
Beaucoup de leur 1ers albums (avant l'arrivée de Jill au violon) sont directement inspiré d'un jeux vidéo (voir Touhou 7 et l'album Vampire) il parait que la réunion du groupe vient d leur amour de ce jeu car tous étaient plus ou moins des musiciens reconnu avant que la formation Unlucky Morpheus devienne pérenne

A fine band that would be better off instrumental in most cases. Fuki's vibrato is way over the top in many of their songs. Angreifer is a good example of this. It'd be my favorite song of their's if not for the vocals. Sorry to anyone that upsets, it's just an opinion so don't take it too seriously.
