- My first day in Nanning since 2019, Kirk lent me his e-bike and we rode around town. Kirk introduced me to his home, showed me some of the sights and we shot some local pool.

@@nct9466 They say 48 volt are the only legal and mine is 60. That I think is for new bikes. This is the only standard I am aware of but I am sure if it is illegal I will get stopped and be buying another bike
Thanks for visiting Nanning. I am an American expat living in China for 9 years. I lived in Beijing for 5 years, but decided to move back to Nanning where I began. Wife is from Nanning and it is a great city.
When I see you two old boys together, I can’t help but to get the feeling that you two are reliving life like a couple of teenagers again. Everything is exciting, fresh, and fun! It really brings out that youthful energy in you two! I’m truly envious

3:19 that is so true. nanning is a sleeper city. its one of those big cities in china that gets no exposure. gweilo been living in nanning for 17 years, he probably witnessed the development of the city throughout the years, from a mediocre town that not even the Chinese have heard of to one of the major cities in southern china with a robust subway transit system. i was born in nanning in the mid 90s, left china in the 2000s. and when I came back to nanning last year. man, it was like a whole new city to me. taller buildings, wider roads, more advance public transportations, but it still maintained the traditional local flavors. I'm so proud of my hometown.

When people are not afraid to express themselves in a happy ways like singing, dancing etc in public, this could only means they are at peace with themselves and are feeling comfortable and confident under their own skin.

Thanks for the video. I always enjoy strolling in public parks in China. Ppl having fun, singing whatever song they like, playing various instruments, playing amazing / fun / weird games, flying kites, exercising etc. Not to mention there are so many beautiful and clean gardens, and they are very safe night and day. Can't wait for the border opens.

Wandering around without any purpose is fun! I do that a lot on e-bike, on shared bike and on foot. When you explore a backstreet alley and find it provides a secret short cut to another road, it gives you a feeling of achievement equivalent to winning a Nobel Price.

In China people retire early, normally at 55. And those people wander around the city and do weird and fun things. While in the west old people retire later, with less wealth (relatively) and afterwards just spend the rest of their life in casino pulling lever on slot machines.

That's crazy, two of my aunt's in China stopped working in their 40's, my cuz at home is a stay at home mom (not rich). They're living the "American dream" in China.

Riding around on Motorbikes in China... I feel like I'm having dejavu.
I remembered watching serpentza and c-milk riding on Motorbikes in China. The difference unfortunately, is that serpentza and c-milk were s**ting on China as they rode around.
E-bikes, no emissions. It's a major difference!

I am in Nanning, Guangxi, which is my hometown. There are many electric bicycles on the street, ha ha!

LOL...Pretty sure you could've use GPS instead of relying on Kirk but hey, that turns out to be pretty good too showing the back streets/lanes behind the Nanjing buildings. And hey ! Where did that dark green Shelby GT came from !? :-)
The Shelby was cool. Parked in an only area. I have a Chinese license. But for the smaller scooters it’s not necessary
Sha xian xiao chi (literally: sand county dim sim) are everywhere, even in Ningbo. They are the low-end cheap fast food restaurants competing against KFC and McDonald’s, but they’re not part of a franchise, each restaurant is individually owned.
You two need to do more videos with each other.

4:41 Could you inquire and tell us what the fiscal status of a "building owner" is? is it like in the US? (100% owners but 2% taxes on the value of the property every year)
or they don't pay annual taxes but everything comes back to the municipality after 90 years (like singapore)?
