You should watch the video, or anyone else who has played's videos, or even play one of the games yourself. It plays like dogshit on its own dedicated console, it crashes a LOT, memory leaks are rampant, the game has definitely not been tested before release, because the state these games are in are unacceptable. Not just from the highest grossing franchise in the world, from any triple A developer. People gave no man's sky flak, but these games really are the no man's sky of pokemon games. What could the production issue be? Pokemon makes so much god damn money, but is the development budget itself low? Do they have zero QA? Awful management? I thought the bugs were gunna make me laugh, and some did, but this is just tragically unfinished.
I read an article yesterday (I think it was from Kotaku?) that the development structures of the games are weird. Like they have to make a new generation every 3 years or so to match the merch and card game and anime, so they essentially put prototypes of new game ideas (i.e. open world) without refining because they don't have time. And the developers apparently give new hires who aren't as experienced with programming and game development significant roles in making the game. Which is a nice gesture for junior employees but that just makes the perfect storm of bad code and a rushed game, imo.

Unfortunately, this probably won't happen until we stop buying the product anyways, which I don't have high hopes for. I feel sorry for the devs who don't get to make decisions and have to put out these sub par products in a beloved franchise because of corporate and marketing decisions
An open world Sonic game, made by modern day Sonic Team, is a more polished and less buggy product than the latest installment of the most profitable media franchise on the planet. Gamefreak is a genuine embarrassment lmao.
Every new Pokemon game is them testing to see how much they can get away with before the core audience actually starts to notice how shit the quality is.
How are you supposed to stop parents from buying their kids another pokemon game every year? That's what makes up most of the game sales, and kids couldn't care less about low framerate and glitches if it's pokemon. Been the same for the most part since the broken mess that was Gen 1.
The quality of the game is to be expected given how Nintendo is trying to pump out a Pokemon game every year. Scarlet and Violet feel like a nearly finished beta. The game needed another 6 months to a year in the proverbial oven.
Pokemon is one of those franchises that I've long since stopped playing, but I still keep tabs on it just in case they start making good games again. Still waiting... :(

Confirmation that Pokemon Legends Arceus began development in Fall of 2018, with Scarlet and Violet starting around the time Generation 8 was finishing up. Means both games had three years of development." That is based on another interview. "The Pokemon community became outraged after a blog post from Game Freak revealed that Pokemon Sword & Shield was made in just under two years. Fans were furious that the Gen 8 title had such a short development cycle." SwSh had an even shorter dev cycle. X/Y: October 12 2013 Sun/Moon: November 18 2016 Sw/Sh: November 15 2019 S/V: November 18 2022 This is aligned with the release dates of the anime series, as the games and anime are obviously following the same cycle. X/Y anime: October 17 2013 Sun/Moon anime: November 17 2016 Sw/Sh anime: November 17 2019 S/V: TBD There is more than enough to show that Pokemon games have a 3 year development cycle. The anime and games are developed alongside each other meaning that Game Freak has to fit their development within those 3 years. It is an indisputable fact that a Pokemon development cycle is based on a 3 year window. It is not Game Freak who sets these deadlines. They are based on the whole Pokemon multi-media franchise needing to run alongside each other. The games need to align with the anime, TCG, merchandise etc.

y'know, S/V is the first game i decided to not get since B/W and B/W2, the difference is, B/W turned out be awsome, i dont think i'll regret my choice this time
7:00 Remember, if you don't want to battle just say no! Trainers cant fight you without your permission!
Ew
This is one hell of a turn around dry
Pro tip you can get some tms early by sliding up certain ledges you aren't supposed to get until the motorlizard
3d graphics are the worst thing to happen to pokemon
I would say the second worst
The top worst thing is becoming such a big franchise with so many related parts forcing early releases in the first place
Time stamping a random point to mess with analytics 6:14
While watching ZFG Stream this was funny AF.... i'm so happy I did not pre-order this trash, I don't feel like being robbed ;)
The pokemon stream had just so much content in its first few hours that Dry had to pause the randos highlights for one release
8:35 that's some sonic '06 camera shenanigans right there.
12:37 Futon: Rasen Shuriken
Quest 64 dlc is looking pretty good
11:22 so not only dose this run and look like sonic 06 but looks like the setting is the same as well
To the comments saying negative things about this game: You can stop now. A patch is being released today to hopefully fix the many issues.
3:50 the rare ZFG laugh
Man watching this makes me wish I'd caught the stream, because it looks like it was an absolute riot. Hopefully he plays it some more soon because new pokemon look like they're gonna be funny as hell.
Edit: I will say though, although the game looks objectively bad it also seems like it'll be fun. Might end my 9-year Pokemon dry spell for this tbh
games really fun but the performance is ass
2:10 I did the exact same thing! Lol. I was curious what would happen if I tried avoiding her
These low FPS NPCs move like they're from YIIK.
“Bought the game so you don’t have to” well 10 million people brought the game anyway
8:29 game freak doesn’t run pokemon, the pokemon company does. game freak just develops the mainline games, and the pokemon company creates the deadlines. these games aren’t optimized because they never get enough time.
2fps classroom is cursed lol
And companies are going to start charging $70 for these games. Does anybody remember when these Pokemon games were $35?
No because I bought the GB and GBC games secondhand and emulated everything after that 🙃
at this point, knowing this IP, I'm convinced that these games could cost $100 per copy and they probably wouldn't sell any worse...
They didn't spend the money on models, they didn't spend the money on graphics, they didn't spend the money on voice acting, they didn't spend money on quality code. What did they create that wasn't already in, idk..let's say Pkmn XD gale of darkness
You try making a BOTW sized open world Pokemon game in 3 years. It doesn't matter how much money you throw at it; it won't be a finished product. Nintendo needs to start giving Gamefreak more time to develop these games. BOTW took 5 years to develop. S/V should have gotten at least the same amount of time.
@@DaShikuXI @DaShiku wouldn't that mean that they bit more than what they could chew? If they clearly had an ETA, a deadline. Why create a game that is so expensive, why create so many new mons, why spend time creating new gimmicky abilities. They could've easily made the game be half the size, half the new mons and delivered a much better game. Just cause they where given a deadline doesn't make them invulnerable to critique, they should've knocked down their expectations and made a much smaller game. BoTW took 5 years? Alright that is great. They delivered a game with much better quality. Still has it's game breaking bugs, So should had they be given 10+ years like some of the AAA games? What's your point in comparing BOTW to V/S?
To my point, Pokemon colosseum, how long was it in development? It came out on '03 and was using models from the prior 3D Pkmn games. The game look great for it's time. V/S look like a game that could've been on the Ds series. Idk man, to me, they just wasted a lot of potential.
Scarlet and Violet suck but so did Coloseum and XD, I’m tired of retroactively hearing that they’re amazing. I played them again last year, and they were so slow, boring and limited
He bought a game that is the best selling game ever on switch so we don't have to. XD
I collect retro games but I've never heard of this one! I especially collect games from the late 90s so this is right up my alley!
Game Freak does not even want to make Pokemon games, they've said that. This alone should be MORE than enough reason to not let those hacks at Game Freak touch this IP again. Let them spew out whatever indie shovelware crap they want to, but they absolutely do not deserve the rights to this franchise. Just imagine what a studio with more than 20, actual, game devs could do with Pokemon..
Imagine Monolithsoft making a Pokemon game
The fastest highlights in the west
And just watch, this is going to get better reviews than X and Y did. Mark my words
Edit: ok yeah, I kind of meant to say "just watch, this is going to get like 9/10 or 10/10 reviews from like everyone". I guess mark that too. Either way, I just hope I'm wrong.
The 3ds games all get too much hate honestly, i enjoyed them all when they came out and i still do. I didnt buy gen 8 because it looked bad tho
I liked XY for King AZ and Floette's story, but having to navigate Lumiose City at all made me want to die and everyone was WAY TOO CASUAL about Lysandre openly declaring his homicidal plans for the world, in public, multiple times. I think Sycamore (the hottest Pokemon Professor) just wrote it off as him being "passionate". Guess you don't have to be smart to study elemental rodents. I also never felt compelled to use Mega Evolution because I was overleveled from abusing the Battle Mansion for my fashion fund (a "me" problem definitely) and the four annoying friend-rivals needed to buzz off. Looker had a really good substory though.
The second I saw background NPCs moving like pre-patch TF2 skeletons I fucking lost it, gamefreak should have stuck to pixelart wtffffffffffff
This is the weirdest OoT randomizer yet. Try it with keysanity.
Honestly though, what don’t people complain about when a new game comes out?if it ever drops a single frame people raise hell. If a loading screen is too long people are shitty
You are SERIOUSLY underselling the game's issues lmao
You should watch the video, or anyone else who has played's videos, or even play one of the games yourself. It plays like dogshit on its own dedicated console, it crashes a LOT, memory leaks are rampant, the game has definitely not been tested before release, because the state these games are in are unacceptable. Not just from the highest grossing franchise in the world, from any triple A developer. People gave no man's sky flak, but these games really are the no man's sky of pokemon games. They're awful
Signed, someone who was excited for this gen and thought they'd learned from SWSH. They had not.
@@samuelcalvert9742 Damn that makes a lot of sense. Such a shame
2fps classroom was the best part.
However shiny lechonk is a close 2nd favorite
Damn I was about to watch a rando but then this popped up in my recommendeds and I didn't even realize it was from ZFG. I love to watch different content from you man! But it's fine either way, your OoT content is great anyways
isn't nintendo pretty demanding when it comes to its games? How did this pass quality control?
This is what happens when you try to make a massive game in a two year dev cycle. We will not get a good 3D pokemon until GameFreak/The Pokémon Company stops trying to push merchandise and new pokemon for marketing purposes so frequently.
Gamefreak is a genuine embarrassment lmao.
so the new gimmick is they put a ring pop on their head and go 5fps mode??? based
Hopefully ZFG will see all the new broken mons.
Every new Pokemon game is them testing to see how much they can get away with before the core audience actually starts to notice how shit the quality is.
THE 3 FPS WALKING LMFAOOOO
One thing makes the game amazing Dunsparce getting an evo finally
We salute your sacrifice sir! o7
This is the first ZFG video I've watched that isn't Zelda based, and, I'd watch more tbh
No strats. No tech. ZFG, what the heck?!
bro the mom is a baddie
for real though this is absurd
The only way these games get better is if people don't buy them. That's it. Stop buying a tech demo for $60.
It's not a $60 demo. It's a $60 advertisement for toys.
How are you supposed to stop parents from buying their kids another pokemon game every year? That's what makes up most of the game sales, and kids couldn't care less about low framerate and glitches if it's pokemon. Been the same for the most part since the broken mess that was Gen 1.
@@Brotlov
Maybe we can't stop patents with bad taste, but we can stop all the adult fans from being ignorant, anyway.
Hey, it's pretty impressive that they managed to get GameCube emulation working this well on Switch...
The quality of the game is to be expected given how Nintendo is trying to pump out a Pokemon game every year. Scarlet and Violet feel like a nearly finished beta. The game needed another 6 months to a year in the proverbial oven.
This game was released on the same console as Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and MHRise:Sunbreak...
This honestly had me cracking up, I love your reactions to this shit lol
Is GF trolling us? Like, for real? This game bares an eerie similarity to the last ~17 years of sonic games. Like, even down to the music.
I hope the pokemon mainline games die at this point, it's more depressing than funny to watch this atrocity of a game
Pokemon is one of those franchises that I've long since stopped playing, but I still keep tabs on it just in case they start making good games again.
Still waiting... :(
if u like pokemon so much
i highly recommend nexomon, monster sanctuary and abomi nation
all on steam
There's pop-in. This is 2022. Optimize the games, Game Freak.
This hurt to watch. Wanting Pokemon main series games to be good again. It hurt, but I needed to see it to know x.x
This is unacceptable, how did this get released? It is literally a Beta, this is not a finished game.
This would fit right in on a Shovelware Showcase with Vinesauce.
How did this get released? Because Gamefreak had to make a BOTW sized open world Pokemon game in just 3 years. That's really all there is to is.
@@DaShikuXI Had to?
@@DaShikuXI I keep seeing you post this, but I've legitimately seen nothing that says Nintendo is forcing Game freak to make these games and giving them a 3 year deadline. Until you do provide information stating otherwise that's a load of shit
@@hayato1886 "Speaking with IGN, Pokemon producer Junichi Masuda vaguely discussed how Game Freak approaches future Pokemon games. Masuda also confirmed that new-generation Pokemon titles “have about a three-year development cycle”."
That's from an interview.
"Game Freak held a talk during the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2022 (CEDEC) yesterday, 25th August, and the company shared a lot of information about how it developed assets for every Pokémon game. Confirmation that Pokemon Legends Arceus began development in Fall of 2018, with Scarlet and Violet starting around the time Generation 8 was finishing up. Means both games had three years of development."
That is based on another interview.
"The Pokemon community became outraged after a blog post from Game Freak revealed that Pokemon Sword & Shield was made in just under two years. Fans were furious that the Gen 8 title had such a short development cycle."
SwSh had an even shorter dev cycle.
"I think it's worth mentioning that Masuda's involvement beginning in 2020 implies that Pokemon BDSP had about 1.5 years of production (Mar. 2020 ➡ Oct. 2021)"
BDSP likely has even less
There is also a consistent 3 year release window between the mainline games.
X/Y: October 12 2013
Sun/Moon: November 18 2016
Sw/Sh: November 15 2019
S/V: November 18 2022
This is aligned with the release dates of the anime series, as the games and anime are obviously following the same cycle.
X/Y anime: October 17 2013
Sun/Moon anime: November 17 2016
Sw/Sh anime: November 17 2019
S/V: TBD
There is more than enough to show that Pokemon games have a 3 year development cycle.
@@DaShikuXI Bro please stop. You just posted interviews stating how The Pokemon Company enforces these deadlines on Gamefreak, and not once is Nintendo even mentioned. Nintendo only handles publication and distribution of Pokemon games. Nintendo isn't a fantastic company either, but don't put this pile of garbage on them.
man, I'm not sure if I want to get Pokemon: Sonic 06 or Pokemon: Sonic Boom version...
Ugh, I bought it anyway because of exactly what you said at 10:50 ... Man, I just want pokemon to be good again :(
Well it never will be, because you bought the game. With your actions you directly showed Nintendo that you want this game. You are the problem. You approved this game. As long as you buy the game you are saying that you are fine with its current state. It's that simple. Stop buying them if you want change.
If you cannot have the discipline to say no to these games, then you should stop wishing for them to be better. Stop making excuses and stop buying the games.
6:33 shiny Maril?
Why did Nintendo think this was okay? it's as laggy as an Alpha build of a game with no lag reduction stuff added for beta yet.
good lord keep it in the oven longer so it doesn't lag like crazy. tone it down if you have to. don't try so much.
Nintendo has nothing to do with the development of these games. They only handle publication and distribution.
I just wish they would give Pokemon to a decent developer, once.
No developer could do better here. You cannot make an open world Pokemon game, the size of BOTW, in just the 3 years Nintendo gave them. It's simply not possible. These kinds of games need at least 5 years to be something you could call a finished and polished game. No matter which studio you employ, it won't work.
They let Genius Sonority make Pokémon Colosseum, despite the dev team having never played Pokémon before, and it was so much better than Game Freak’s stuff that I wonder if they stopped doing that out of embarrassment
Shin Megami Tensei is a game i think you should try, its often described as Pokemon but with Demons or The Dark Souls of Turn Based RPGs. Its basically the game old people thought Pokemon was back in the day, Satanic and not for kids.
Or why not just play literal SMT Pokemon, aka Demikids?
@@gaminggoddess85 You could i guess.
