- BCCI secretary Jay Shah on October 27, Thursday announced that India women cricketers will get the same match fee as their male counterparts as the board takes the first step towards tackling discrimination.
So in this video I am gonna tell you why the pay gap between men and women athletes exists? And the reasons that justify a pay gap and also reasons that don’t justify a pay gap. Personally i believe men and women should get equal pay not only in sports but in every field.
Do let me know about what you think about the pay gap and also what do you think about BCCI initiative for same pay for both men's and women, i personally appreciate this step.

Athletes do not make money based on their gender, they make money based on how much people pay to watch them play.
The MEN in the English Premier League make ten times as much as the MEN in the MSL in North America, because people spend ten times as much money to watch the Premier League. Steph Curry makes $48 million a season while the minumum wage for rookies is $1 million.
The WNBA has lost at least $10 million dollars every year for 25 years, and it only exists because it's subsidized by the NBA. The men have to take money out of their pocket to keep the WNBA from folding because they don't have enough fans - because the basketball is not very good. Every high school boys team in the USA could win the WNBA championship, and they play for nothing.
You talk about investment, but ,money isn't unlimited. If you have 3 daughters, and only 1 can be recruited by a modeling agency, are you going to lower her probabilities because the two other sisters don't have that chance?
If you have 3 sons, and only one is a probable sports star, would you keep, if you have limited money, investing in the ones who don't perform as much, if you can only afford to send one? Same for doctor school. If only one of your kids can go to faculty, wouldn't you bet on the most promising one?
It's a chicken and egg situation...because if the interest isn't there, the investment won't come. And if the investment doesn't come, the interest won't grow.
