2023 Ducati Panigale V4R Dyno test - Stock Exhaust

  • We took a new 2023 Ducati Panigale V4R, 100% stock, and put it on the Team MCC Dyno to get a quick baseline. The results weren't exactly what we expected. However, the bike doesn't have a lot of miles on it and we also suspect the stock Euro-5 exhaust (with catalytic converter) is choking this bike. In a couple weeks, this bike will have the Ducati approved Akrapovic Racing Exhaust installed, flash, and its true unadulterated potential shall be released!     Important universal notes about dyno testing!!!
    - Never compare results between different dynos, as different dynos can produce very different numbers, even between the same bike. So always compare using the very same dyno. Calibrations differ.
    - Manufacturers' published power figures are CRANKSHAFT horsepower and torque. A dyno tests REAR WHEEL horsepower and torque. The difference will always be anywhere between -10% to -15%. The reason for this is that there are frictional losses inside the transmission, between the chain and the sprockets, and in the tire. Also, if the bike is strapped down too hard or not hard enough, that can affect the results. Dyno results are always lower than claimed crank power figures from the manufacturer, assuming the dyno is reading correctly.
    - Environmental conditions can also affect results, temperature and humidity as that changes the air going into the engine.

    It rained that morning and was humid. The humidity does affect the HP a lot. Just plugged the numbers in an online SAE calculator and it corrected the HP to 185 (at STP) based on the conditions in Villa Park on Saturday 84F with barometric pressure of 29. 186hp would around the 15% loss expected to the rear wheel, which is normal.

    You plan on doing this with the full akra? I know of two 23’s in McHenry county that have full akra’s if you’re looking to test one with a full system

    the description says team MCC. that's in the US. it's expected to make less power, the US market has higher restrictions for motorcycles than here in Europe.

    That's normal bro a lot of restrictions R here my old 2018 base was 174bhp in fourth gear

    That’s weird. I’ve seen stock older V4Rs and even base V4 produce much more on the dyno than this. Maybe the conditions are holding it back that much

      It was humid. Using an online calculator to correct for environmental conditions shows we should have actually gotten around 186hp, which would be correct at the rear wheel given claimed crankshaft HP is around 215-220.

      @@mikemoggerson6651 looks like this bike wasn't bought with the optional full race exhaust system and Ducati special track tune which give it that number, this is a reg base V4R which should be making 215 bhp factory, at least the unrestricted Euro versions

    Dyno'd my 9 yr old hp4. Produced 169 hp claimed 193. Dyno'd my brother's 2019 v4r with full akro and their tune, produced 185 hp claimed 240. 😅 the man dyno-ing tuned it and got 205 hp.

      Read the explanation in the description. Also, barometric pressure - it was humid and that sapped about 10hp.
