What a good "Case" you presented with the decline of quality of Case knives. Thanks for refreshing my memory on the blade that was made for soldiers of the Civil War who only had one arm or one hand.

You’d hope American craftsmanship would be a step above, but too often than not it isn’t true with Case.

I always enjoy the history you share with each knife design. As a child of the 60s I remember everyone carried a Case, Buck or Old Timer. All USA made and quality was second to none. Most things now that say "Made in the USA" should really say "Assembled in the USA".
That’s the truth!
All the parts and machines are sourced from China.
And sadly, the craftsmanship is over lower quality than China a lot of times.

@@TimsSchoolOfFish you are very welcome brother. As for the gapping on the back of knives in general, it doesn't bother me as long as it still works like it is supposed too. I am not a "collector" so by opinion doesn't really matter.
My only issue with most knives is the high price tags attached to them like, Case and a few others.

Great video! Good looking knife, beautiful bone on it! It's great that Case brought this one out of the vault. I love Case knives, but hate that their quality control is hit or miss. Bad gaping and blade wobble bother me the most, because both could cause problems with the knife's function. Even if I only bought Case knives as user knives, I would still want good fit and finish. When Case's fit and finish is good, it's really good, though that seems few and far between as of late. I have heard some people say it's getting better, so we'll see what the future holds. Sorry, that was a bit of a rant. Thank you for sharing the history of the knife, really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing!

Nice video my last two mini copper locks have had the tip of the blade just barely stuck up above when closing. I know how to adjust but on a $80.00 knife shouldn't have to do this repair. I also went to your new site and subscribed. Stay Safe.

I gave up on Case XX about 2 years ago. I would be ok with Case adding on a few bucks to their products if they would do a little more due diligence on the f&f.

I agree this knife especially will be many a collectors piece and case should do better- I like the look of it though. On the other subject, I DO NOT agreee with youtube on their restrictions. I am not into pipes, but its a shame you can't continue on this channel with it
It’s no surprise that every other video is UA-cam pushing some girl in see through clothing or two people in a street fight, but a man encouraging people to be thoughtful and live a slow and simple life is not something they agree with.
Despite its flaws, I love this knife and this pattern.

Hello Tim. As you may know. I am a die-hard Rough Ryder guy as far as value goes. But, recently, I went on a binge on Case knives. I too feel like I am disappointed by the quality as I expected USA made knives to be great. But for the money, they have some issues. I am not super happy with the coloring of my knives, nor the sharpening, nor the gaps.............. But, somehow, I am shopping for more Case knives.................. who knew??

How was the blade centering? My first one was off but had up and down blade play so i returned it and the second one had a better fit and finish. The gapping is frustrating. At least the barlows ive gotten have been better. Thanks for sharing Tim!

Love the look of the bone and that pattern. Love=hate for case is real unfortunately. I just sent 2 knives back to them for lock failure (not spine whacking bologne) straight up basic lock failure. Just received them back and neither were fixed 🥲
