Seven years later and this video is still helping! Thank you for this and all the comments. I did exactly what video said safe from unplugging sensor to avoid the code.
I need help. when i cleaned my throttle body, i made a mistake opening the butterfly by hand. Now my idle drops suddenly and back up to where it is when braking. How can i readjust or relearn it?
ZamnnnBro damn that's low dude. I usually get about 26. You might have a problem or something cuz that's exteremely low unless you're always in stop and go traffic
You know if you just unplug the battery and let the power drain out for a good 20min. you can take everything off without a check engine light coming on when you reassemble
Do you remember what kind of codes you were getting on this? My daughter's car is getting Random misfires, and then misfires on the individual cylinders.
its becuse u had the key in the on position with the air temp sensor unplugged. So the car thinks the sensor is broken or not responding. if u leave the sensor pluged in while cleaning or while the key is on, u wont get the code
Would you have any idea why my mpgs on my 07 tsx are super low? Ive tried driving the car with very minimal hard acceleration but only still manage to get 20.3 mpgs and I also do drive both city and highway.
Here is my short list to help with a bad MPG: (on V6 eng: loose TB TENSIONER causes lean misfires, reduced power) Dirty old: tranny Honda ATF cheap old: engine oil synthetic! Tight brakes: slide-pins lube! Over gapped old: sparkPlugs Tired old dirty: primary O2-sensors wheel alignment: old bushings!! (AirCon ON: high power load!) 👍🏻
@@greatjuankenobi217 the OEM upstream lambda/O2 sensors are made by "NTK" (the NGK branch that makes O2 sensors). Stay the hell away from Bosch and no names. Either buy dealer part or buy NTK ... runs perfect, easy job around 90kMi!! 🤘
The engine code is hit and miss. Sometimes it comes sometimes it doesn't. I'm happy it came on here to show when you clear it, it's gone. About opening the TB with your hand, I don't want to mess with an electronic one as I have heard nightmares of it ruining the TB, but conversely some people have had worlds of luck with it.
That's a 70/30 mix mostly city. Highway I'll get around 30 mpg 75mph ishh. Roadtrip mileage can break 35mpg. I found that tires and above all cold vs warm temps make a BIG difference. MPG is the same now I have 145K miles
***** its the same procedure! and same for all hondas actually! my car when warm idles at 5500rpm. very smooth. Buy crc throttle body cleaner or Amsoil power foam. I also cleaned my intake hose with this. and change filter if necessary or vacuum any leaves or debris in air box.
I cleaned the throttle body about 2 years ago. I took the throttle body completely off and cleaned it that way. I opened the butterfly valve by hand. Did I damage the throttle body by doing this?? hmm 🤨
Opening the butterfly valve by hand does not damage it. Just don't aggressively open and close it repeatedly like a toy. The only thing the OEM manual says about sticking your fingers in there is... "Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you turn the ignition switch ON or while the ignition switch is ON. If you do, you will seriously injure your finger..."
@@ChavezDIY I took it completely off about a year and a half ago or so to thoroughly clean it. Will clean it again but by opening the valve with the gas pedal. Thanks for the info!!! 🙏🏽
I appreciate the video. Why didnt you just unplug the battery dismantle everything take off throttle body and clean it properly. The car will relearn by just driving it.
Do you think that I have to do a clean up on my throttle body?, i bought the car she it had 129k miles and now it has 134k miles, so I'm guessing they never clean it up
It's to prevent it from sticking....kind of an Preventative Maintenance. To be honest modern cars like this, it's not necessary, but it's so easy on this car so why not?

You disconnected the IAT sensor wire harness and turned on the ignition when cleaning the throttle body, that's why you got that code..
Interesting! I did not know that.
do you have a video of taking off the throttle body and clean it? And also removing the air idle control valve and clean that too?
Most scanners require the engine to be off and the key to be in the on position to clear a code.

i get 10.6! what the heck

Works????
Do you remember what kind of codes you were getting on this? My daughter's car is getting Random misfires, and then misfires on the individual cylinders.
misfires can be from:
tight valves,
old plugs,
plugged injector
dead/lazy coil over plug
👍🏻
wow a paper towel? oof.. never use a cloth that sheds for this type of work. they make specific cleaning towels for auto repair work.
Well if you're gonna keep the Throttle Body on (which Honda doesn't recommend) this is the way to go- VERY CAREFULLY!!!
I am scared the flap would injured my fingers. I heard you do not touch the plate....only use the pedal

my speed odometer on my 04 tsx does not work. do you know how to change that sensor?
I did same on my Acura mdx 2005 but didn't need to clean failure message on OBD as I didn't get any error on OBD.

I did the same and now are having idle issues and code P0507. Idle fluctuates. Any help is appreciated. TY
Do you use premium fuel and drive 1/2 hwy and 1/2 local to get 26.9 mpg? I get about 22.

I'm trying to get the IAC valve to clean it out on a 05 TSX (i'm having the jumpy idle problem). Is there a way you can show how to get that out?
I actually think that part of the throttle body on this model...though I could be wrong?
is this the same procedure for acura TLs 2004-2008?

No. It's an electronic throttle body and you should never open those by hand.

themo8370 ahh ok thanks good to know
when the "throttle plate" is too dirty the idle and driving performance becomes extra crappy
Do these car have Fill Filter? I’m tryna replace my filter in my TSX 05
I don't think it has your regular inline fuel filter but I've heard the filter is in the fuel pump which is inside the fuel tank.
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just spray a whole can of Amsoil Power Foam in there?

changing oil and
buying gas
+ a little love at the dealer shop too
The Engine Reader isn't made for that car
Just get skunk 2 throttle body
U didnt clean nothibg u have to remove it to clean it the right way
