Great job on doing yours. I did the same with salvaged metal around the house. My purchases was a 3/8" x 4 ft metal rod $13 and 10mm x 10mm I.D. I wanted a Bradley for a while but when I was ready they jacked up the price and when I asked the via email about any future sales they never replied so I ended up buying a used Ferris Z3X instead.
Also running Bradleys with G5 blades here in the Ozarks. The mowers are awesome for the money and will tackle hills that are tough to even walk on. Definitely would like to hear about your fabbed OCDC. Would rather go that route than buy one for $300 with a big mess of a universal mount.
Put two fender washers on each bolt with a rubber washer between. That will add friction to the pivot so it will stay partly open. You don't always want just closed or open .

Of all the diy designs I like yours the best. Brilliant use of a swivel joint that still allows maximum rotation of the blocker. Well done.
