I remember hearing the title song back in 2007. My first time hearing the entire album. Fucking good stuff. You have to consider the effort this took in the 90s to record. A BLACK METAL MASTERPIECE in its own right.
And just emagine Bathory was writing like this 13 years earlier. Not taking anything away from the Almighty NM tho. They fine tuned it though to what it is today. Glad to have almost everything they release. The folklore mixed with brutality of humanity and tribalism. Last but not least all of the different instruments combining a cobweb harmonies to epic proportions. Long live NM!!

One of the best black metal albums out there. This was before they went all cheesy NS and before they changed the logo to match the gimmick era they adapted to. Back when they were still cool with the original Lucifugum.
NS isn't that cheesy these days for us here in Ukraine, especially new pure Ukrainian Nationalism in eastern Ukraine which is very actual right now due to our long lasting real war against Moscow evil empire!!!
This is a great debut with well written compositions but for me the demos are still the best and far far better than the albums in terms of songwriting and independent style! The first albums were very similar to the symphonic black wave which rose these days! The demos were unique stuff with guitar led melodies and pagan perfection. "The voice of steel" was a perfect album and the newest one is also stunning again! "Goat Horns" is still a masterpiece but it cant reach the quality from the demos and voice of steel in my opinion!

You could say whatever you want about their other albums being better (with the exception of lunar poetry that one is true) this will be the most fight in the rain intensive demon summoning symphonic boss battle music whenever the album plays, it's the most beautiful experience. The vocal are all guts and glory. Listen to this in the rain or die!
One of my favourites in my vinyl collection. This Nokturnal Mortum album Goat horns to me is a true symphonic black metal classics heavily influenced by this record the more I listen it the more it absolutely inspires me. This album soo amazing , the best symphonic black metal album in my opinion and Nokturnal Mortums music is incredible their atmosphere and music inspires me
I feel like this album would improve like 200% if it was re-recorded or remastered properly. I mean, its awesome but something is off. Great album anyways
