One of the best Kancolle MMD's I've seen. I had to make sure the message reached English speakers, so I made this video. It's really interesting once you see the backstory of the events Kantai Collection is based on.
BGM: 時空のたもと - Taja
ED: SilverSky piano arrange - まかろにグラたん - Фільми й анімація
while watching this video, my mom asked me "hey, what're you doing up in your room?" then i replied her saying "i'm learning history with feels..."
You just made my day xD
True, true. 加賀も赤城もいちばんのCVよ。
dad- "why you cryin so fucking hard?!"
you- "learning about destruction of the IJN"
dad- "P U S S Y"
Imagine if the real warships where girls...The USA could dare hurt them? Ciuf ciuf jump up on the feeling train!!!
Kantai collection, That game that made you love imperial Japanese ships.
well, for american, and british, you have azur lane and warship girl r, both of them have more allied ships than kancolle.
@@brdfnick3886 yea azur lane is really gud but is so simple and kc and warships girl dont have a global release
It has been 5 years but im still cry looking this mmd
Nagato's sinking is what makes me sad.
"戦いの中で沈むのだ……あの光ではなく…本望だな…"
"To sink in battle... not in that flash... is what I yearned for..."
Love this comment so much
Nagato's fate was unfortunate.
In a flash thats a way to put it
Actually Nagato never sunk she suffered sever damage in operation Crossroads from a 50 Lb. Hydrogen Bomb
That's the point of the line. She had been wrecked by the 'flash' when she was a ship. But in her kanmusu form, (when you're a shitty admiral and sink her,) she's happy she sunk this way instead of in the crossroads.
Some people might think of this as cringe worthy because of the ships being anime girls and think that's why people are sympathizing over it(I know some do) but can we not forget that ships and most vehicles are referred as females. The Jap's(Tanaka) just brought that persona to life and shared it to others. And you must admit that this makes sending the message of the sadness of loss during wars easier. If other sides would do some creative way to do the same(not needed to be anime) rather than some hate speeches and wall of texts, more people could relate.
Jyukai Kirayura This man spoke the truth.
Jyukai Kirayura a war themed video game with an implied anti war message, right?
Well, the game itself does not give the message. It's the fans and people that were able to sympathize with the story behind it that brought life to the thought.
Also, Kancolle only uses WW2 ships as reference but does not really take place in WW2. It is more of war against aliens which is not really a social issue.
Jyukai Kirayura well, I think so too (as a non player) about those enemies in KC as an alien species and the girls were genetically engineered. Not unlike Pacific Rim (instead of Jaeger vs Kaiju we have Kanmusu vs Abyssal) or Battleship.
The thing is, KC does deliver an anti-war message if you look at it on a more in-depth scale. It's the Admiral's job to defeat the unknown threat, but he/she must also ensure all the kanmusus come home safely. It's a far cry from the IJN's tactics - downright suicidal ones where they fight to the last man and bullet.
My homeland was a target of brutal subjugation by Japan during WW2, but what's history is history. No country on the face of this planet has its hands clean from bloodshed and warfare.
You'd have to admit though that suddenly, learning about the Pacific War became easier with after playing Kancolle.
I remembered reading a lot of about the European front but didn't spent much time understanding the Pacfic war.
U are right :v
I suddenly got interested in warships and history by watching Kancolle
Seorori strike witches for european front yo
Daniel Prodigy You weren't interested in naval ships prior :O.Blasphemy, the navy is by far the coolest branch of the military, how can one not be born interested.
Seriously, IMO, naval battles are much more interesting than land engagements.
Im in love with it :v
Midway,Wake island,Guadancanal, Iwo Jima, and Pearl harbor were special events to me
After reciving results of attack on Pearl Harbour, Admiral Yamamoto said shortly...
,,We're going to lose this war..."
Japanese soilders, pilots, generals and saliors we're good people and brave wariors...
They only mistake was wrong place, wrong year and wrong government...
I salute now for every victim of the war, no matter of their country and politics... May they find a peace... On bottom of the sea, middle of the plains and the top of the sky...
Why Japanese didn't Attack Soviet Union from Manchuria instead of attacking US in pearl harbour
@@akashimelendres5895The US had an embargo on Japan and Japan needed resources for the war that would be found in the islands belonging to the US. There weren't any significant resources in Manchuria. Another reason is that Hitler did want to involve Japan in the war against the USSR.
@@akashimelendres5895 Japan already had war with USSR before. They saw what the Red Army was capable of, and decided not to provoke them any further.
In fact, there are several proofs that Japan and Germany weren't really a tight ally. Like, Germany sent military advisors to modernize the Chinese Kuomingtang army, the army that later would fight against the Japanese.
>were good people and brave warriors
The entirety of East Asia would like a word with you
Torture and execution of prisoners of war. Forced prostitution of local women. The Rape of Nanking. Unit 731.
The average Japanese soldier might not have been directly reaponsible for every bad thing, and their bravery and skill might be undeniable... But they were certainly not good people by our standards.
Those goddam ninjas, they're cutting onions again.
The ninjas are *always* cutting onions
You are right!
Nice Profile pic You Got There..
This song "Sora no Tamoto" is used in multiple videos similar to this made with an anti-war or horror/sadness of war message on NicoNicoDouga.
That's because MS Igloo and the Gundam series as a whole has a very anti-war theme to it
Wow that hurts when ships turn into fleet girls
Teitoku Loves Kanmusu i almost cried.. harosho~
Interesting view on history as an American I've learned all these events but it was hard not to cry seeing them as characters not heartless ships.
19DESERTFOX91 Well, think of it like this. Each ship have about 500 to 2000 people on there. Every single one at that time is fully aware of the horror soon to come and have friends and family back at home
Of course I don't blame you, seeing a ship sink is very difficult to feel sad about since you don't actually see the victims of war face to face. But when you personify them, you feel it since you actually see it.
Neurofied Yamato 100% agree with you. I dident explain what i meant to well like in history class in high school we learned about the Pacific war and battles like most US ships we learned about there was always a little story of someone who served on the ship and how many survived or were lost when that ship sank. but unfortunately when it came to Japanese ships being sank i dont remember a single stat of how many survived or were lost when sank. for any ship. It was like in school they almost only teach you to feel for US forces in the pacific. This just kinda made me think of that back in school how one sided it was.
+19DESERTFOX91 Every historical curriculum has it's own share of bias. You know the saying, 'History is written by the victors', right?
@@legitcatalog7594 history is written by those who survived..... but usually those who survived are the victors
You forget that I was sunk by the USS Albacore. Who do you think you are?! Leaving me out of history!!
there would be too many ships to name that were sunk
Justin Srivastava just naming the ships sunk in ironbottom sound would be a complete 5 min video all on its own
Tenryuu Kai Fu Fu, ya scared?
I named a submarine named Uss Albacore in age of ships for you
*Delivers Torpedo* There..
Everyone has come so far, let's not give up now!
This is definitely a well done tribute to the IJN warships and those who served aboard these vessels. It was hard keeping a straight face but seeing Nagato and those words spoke with her last moments just tore me up. Very well done indeed.
*Salutes*
I know there's a lot of sentiment about this is what you get for fighting the US, but keep in mind that the Imperial Japanese navy dealt the heaviest blow ever to the USN. Japan drove the USN to having only 2 CV at one point, while having crippled a good half of the capital ships. That's not something to make light of.
Franklin Liao At one point there was only one operable carrier in the Pacific Theatre (Saratoga, as Enterprise was heavily damaged), they had to borrow one from the British (Victorious, codenamed USS Robin during the loan). The IJN had a pretty good exchange ratio in the Guadalcanal ship-grinder, but ultimately failed to make any strategic dent on or with it.
+Mattoropael A combination of the over-convoluted operational plans, inflexibility to move away from decisive battle doctrine and Japan's blatant disregard for submarine warfare comes to mind for how they've squandered whatever initiative they initially had in those six months of 1942. Having said that, Guadalcanal played well to the Japanese torpedo squadrons' strength, and the USN paid dearly in those surface actions.
Mattoropael I though Enterprise was the only CV in the Pacific as Saratoga was badly damaged (torpedoed by a Japanese sub I think), not the other way around
@@sirboomsalot4902 both are correct. But happened in different times
That gut-wrenching feeling and the welling of tears...
Truely beautiful video. Amazingly done. Emotions were everywhere.
If they adopted the anime like this, id be crying every episode.
Damn it .... I tried not to cry but.. but it was too much for me...
*salutes* Nagato, Yamato, Akagi, Kaga....
I salute to all ships and lives lost for the akagi, hiryu, siryu, kaga, enterprise, yorktown, the hornet, and the yamato.:(
and Arashi, anyone?
2:34 isn't quite right, that was the Battle of Cape Esperance and the Aoba wasnt mistaken for an enemy ship, the USN cruiser task force had opened fire and Goto thinking it was his own ships started flashing the signal "I am Aoba". It's interesting how this parallels the first Battle of Savo where Captain Riefkohl of the USS Vincennes thought Mikawas attacking cruisers were friendly ships firing on him and blinkered to them as well as hoisted flags to identify himself as the Vincennes.
There's just one error. At 1:00, it's written Yamato while it was Nagato.
I guess that presentation was supposed to be for 4:03 since it didn't appear at that time.
EDIT : Noticed another error at 0:35, that was Shirayuki and not Ayanami.
It feels worse when listen to WW2 Pacific Documentary and hearing their names or even seeing their names remind of dis game, know what will happen to them but no matter what i remember them and ship
Fun Fact : Nagato were survive the war but taken by the US as a dummy for their nuklear test subject
Damn. Ended up telling Japan that you couldn't mess with the US this way.
Is there dust in my eyes? 'Cause my tears just keep falling everytime I watch this video T_T
The feels are high on this one..
hope the anime like this will be awesome and make many feels
Listening to Kantai Collection with WW2 background is like Akame ga Kill version of this.
And what's the name of the music?

Yup
This...this made me cry damm destroyer division 6 again cutting onions
This probably taught me a lot more than the books about the naval history of the pacific war of 1939 (WW II on the pacific side pretty much)
Being Kanmusu is suffering..
Sent chills down my back
Damn.........This made me shed tears.*sniff*
You are the most saddest person right now. I am as well.
There were actually 2 Shimakazes in the war. The second one is the one we know from the game. The first one was sunk by torpedoing on January 12, 1943. The 2nd Shimakaze participated in only 1 battle before being sunk.
まさかここまで完璧な字幕版が存在したとは
WW2 is over, nagato became a target ship along with sakawa, kashima, houshou and others were scrapped in japan
This does a great job of putting me in perspective. I support the USA and I understand Japan started it, but this puts me in a position where i can see the sorrow and loss Japan. It also help that I saw KanColle the tv series.
Part of my mind can pity them, but the other part says, "Meh, you mess with the Eagle, you get the talons."
amrak63 they say that but japan had the bigger balls to attack the US in the first place and still the US and Russia are scared of each other
amrak63 well yeah but japan only surprise attacked pearl harbour and then you dropped atomic bombs to 2 cities and most of the casualties were civillians so you broke one of the rules of war and whats worse is project manhattan for atomic bombs which it lead to world fear of the cold war so you better think again.
frisches feesh LOL like Japan followed the rule of war, the 2 nuclear bombs were necessary to prevent a mainland invasion, which would prolong the war, and cost many more lives.
Koki Yoshida geez, calm down
"Commander McClusky!!! They got bombs stacked all over the deck!!!!" "Holy Hell we hit the Jackpot!!!" "Powder river!!!!" Quotes from excited USS Enterprise Air Group VF-6 pilots on attacking the Japanese carriers
I really am proud of Kancolle for raising awareness of the WWII era, especially during their darkest moments. There's just so much feeling and sadly, painful truth in this video as we see each of the shipgirl's fates, and it really shows much of what Japan had lost, but at the same time, accomplished. I was raised to believe that Japan was our enemy, but I felt that any country, regardless of being an ally or enemy deserves to be honored and recognized for fighting valiantly for their country. What difference is there with Japan being our enemy? It was most definitely the same with us being their enemy, so why does it matter that there needs to be a difference between countries? Also the fact that the IJN rescued over 400 survivors of enemy ships, it doesn't really add up that Japan would be a horrible enemy. Kudos to the person who brings and enlightens anime fans with the courageous history of the IJN through Kancolle.
well japan was shit on ww2 they do alot of war crimes and the nation was basically a dictatorship though they change now but yea i definitely dont want to live in a post ijn won ww2 world cause i bet anime wont exist
That totalitarianism and expansionist policy killed Japan so badly. Can't blame Japan for being so cruel. They just want to help their economy and society after the Great Depression...
@Drago storm: honor Japan for what they did during WW II. Seriously, after what they did to all the countries they have done death and destruction with?? Hahahahahahahaha... You are insane.
Search for Sandakan Death March, Bataan Death March, Nanking and the cultural genocide against Korea. So yes, Imperial Japan was a brutal enemy without honor
@@jessnalulila5709 same can be said about every nation during the War. This includes the US.
Thank you for presenting a piece of valuble history that should never be forgotten. I salute you, and keep up the great work.
Yukikaze also passed as reparations to the ROC later become Taiwan.
If I remember right, she was ship used to evacuate the ROC Government to Taiwan after the Mao Revolution.
Beautiful, truly beautiful.
A big thank you for those subs! Thanks to you, I finally have a better sight of these events!
I hope this video will not be deleted for whatever reason.
I'm going to share it with the KanColle fans.
The feels that i get from this song is real!!!! It's a pity that so many Japanese ships were sunk during WW2.
And a pity for me as well, my fleet, which is in my heart, will be strong.
American ship > Japanese ship
+Bananamelon X9000 brit ship > usa ship
+HMA Victory Heh, remember how the Hood got sunk? Remember the reason WHY the Hood got sunk?
+Legit Catalog yes i do. And i also know that there was nothing wrong with HMS Hood. She was simply used for the wrong job. The IDIOTS in the admiralty thought a BATTLECRUISER could work in the job of a BATTLESHIP. A battlecruiser is built to chase down cruisers and deal with smaller faster ships. The battleships were designed to fight in the line of battle with other battleships. End of. HMS Hood was just in the wrong place in the wrong time. And one more thing about your US ship beats RN ship thing? Take a look at the history. Who had the biggest and most powerful fleet in the world until the end of ww2? Oh and i think HMS Warspite could take on the USS new york, the USS Texas or the USS Colorado
damn i was already feeling bad then i stumbled across, now the tears are stopping,i haven't felt this bad in a long time TT______TT
Wow, it's great, i'm going to cry after watching this, many feelings
btw, Can you tell me the name of the song? :D
Dat Vien Tri
It's "Sora no Tamoto" from Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO.
***** thanks.
This makes me so sad, especially what happened at Midway. Hiryuu's retaliatory strike against the Yorktown is almost symbolic and shows the defiance of the two prestigious IJN carrier groups and their pilots.
That being said, reading more and more into the American point of view (which is doubly as fascinating and heartbreaking, especially Samar.) you really understand the pure bravery and determination that the U.S. put into defeating Japan. If both sides had the same internal infighting that the Japanese had, the IJN would come out on top by pure numerical advantage (most of the US navy for the first half of the war were in the Atlantic). The USN put aside their disdain for the Army (especially towards Macarthur, worst general ever) and worked hard to pull out a victory. Just keep in mind that the USN didn't get the beat down, but they didn't for a reason.
+Arararagi I'm pretty sure even if the US suffered from infighting, the sheer material and industrial advantage the Americans had over Japan would still result in an allied victory.
Yeah, We could pump out cruisers, battleships, carriers, and destroyers with practically zero issue in terms of getting the supplies to manufacture them. What Japan had, while numerous, was virtually irreplaceable. Hence why you see a ton of hastily converted carriers in '45, all making up for the loss at Midway.
To get some sense of numbers:
I count 5 standard fleet carriers they finished after Pearl Harbour (Unryuu, Katsuragi, Amagi, Shinano & Taihou), 5 light aircraft carriers (Hiyou, Junyou, Ryuuhou, Chitose & Chiyoda) and 8 escort aircraft carriers (Chuuyou, Kaiyo, Shin'you & Akitsu-Maru-class) vs the US 17 Essex&Ticonderoga-class, 9 Independence-class, and "oh my god why are there so many" escort aircraft carriers (50ish Bogues and a shitton of Casablanca-classes).
...or I just throw the 175 Fletchers in there, all built during the war.
Another issue was their tendency to throw all available resources into large battles (decisive battle doctrine) - this is why we have these major fuckups like the Battle of Tsushima
More historical accuracy in this video than the entirety of Hetalia.
Goddamn it! They showed Operation Crossroads!

"Guests" They say....
Ok that aside, the pacific campaign is hands down the most interesting part of world war 2 for me.
Nagato was hit with a Nuclear bomb during Operation Crossroads.
My deepest sincere of apologies to you guys but... I didn't cried after I watched this video. The only thing I've felt are the goosebumps coming out every time I read the notes of what the ship girls did. And at the credits, I saluted to those who sank and survived the war. And I'm not even a soldier nor pilot nor admiral. I'm just a person with the liking of military arsenal and war whether it's victorious or depressing.
Chihaya Gunzou Same. I didn't cry but really felt depressed immediately after wtahcing and chills down my back.
=o
+Chihaya Gunzou I didn't cry because I can't cry. But it's the feeling of crying and goosebumps that gave it out. All these wars has shaped the world we are in.
Btw, out from the frying pan and into the fire. War is upon us.
Want to see victorious and depressing go see uss enterprise literally win the fight for usa literally have to fight alone for almost a year after santa cruz her 2 sister has sank and us don't have any operational carrier left so she held the line alone for almost a year but in the end she got scarp not even turn into a museum not betray by her country
when ever i watch this chills just run down my spine... Brrrr

In this form, you feel for the shipgirls, heartbreaking but they put up good fights best they could, sad some of them sank because of friendly fire
+Skylar Tayim Friendly fire. They are even a thing irl.
Historically accurate,I like it
The subtitles could have used a bit of work to make them more visible, but otherwise, really great.
I dont actually follow KanColle much, but this was an enjoyable bit of history none the less.
They went a little too fast too, I think.
He accidently named Nagato as Yamato XD
I had a feeling it mirrored the events of WWII. But great work on the research!

awesome video!!
Can we have a us version i want to see enterprise fight with her sister hornet and yorktown only to lose it all when both sink and in the end being dismantled not being preserve as a museum after being a legend and carried the shitty us navy during early wars to the beast it became
Ask Azur Lane for that... AL have more US Ship than Kancolle...
If I'm not mistaken, Azur Lane anime version will have USS Enterprise as the main character...
Bro even tho this is one of your old vids I still can’t help but cry and learn what happened to the 6th division and mainly the IJN Hibiki
2:17.
However, everything at here is not over yet, because another of the Japanese navy are still more terrible was approached in the Pacific and this battle it's only just begun.

and very teryifing
I really like this
I'm an american myself but...I can't help but feel respect and sympathy for these ship girls...I washed the legends lasted a bit more longer, but that's an impossible wish. I salute.
more american and allied troopers wouldve died if they were not wiped out in Midway. But still a great video.
Agreed,we would've lost more than needed and...that was war, little else need to be said.
NoblesseGlint1 i personally wished the war never happened then maybe these ships instead of being destoyed would have served side by side with the very ships they called their enemies. Still i salute them and their crews from both sides of the war that served their own countires.
4:03 noooo Yamato!! 😢 the legend has begun
Curious, did the IJN lose just about all the ships featured on Kancolle? Odd that they would make a game that reminds them of their utter defeat
Yeah. Look at me.
mikasa is still alive, however she is not in kancolle.
Indeed, that war was a complete defeat for Japan. It had a major impact on Japan today that is yet to be erased. But forgetting is not a solution. Nor is fixating on the past a solution. To look back and review the past. That is what Japan needs today. This game taught us that.
Hoshou was the only carrier that survive US Attacks and later she been scrapped on 1947 in Japan.
hoshou didn't suffered any damage during WW2
EchoBrony cause form what i looked up she was outdated design unlike the others
Houshou was the first aircraft carrier ever built, so of course she was outdated after more than 20 years of service.
She was never employed for frontline service and was used as a training ship for pretty much the entire war.
Actually, Katsuragi also survived the war as a camouflaged anti-aircraft battery at anchor. Also scrapped in 1947
3:49 - October 24, 1944: Battle off Cape Engaño
Destroyer Hibiki survived the war but her sister ships died in the war which is “Akatsuki ,Ikazuchi and Inazuma”
Oh god, i am still crying minutes after watching it.
Hibiki lost all of her sisters, and then was forced to serve the soviets, to in the end be just a target for nukes... 😭😭😭
Actually I am agree all of you what you are saying and I was come from the asia country-Malaysia I learn two history one is Western front another one is Pacific war
and I was learn about this two history when I was still junior middle two student
The western front is the more "Popular" war. But we get taught the pacific war as well in the U.S. though it's never heavily elaborated on. I personally find it to be a fascinating front. Moreso than the western front.
just finished watching kancolle movie again
then I remembered this , watched and now im sad.
Of course the problem about being "rescued" from the ocean by a Japanese ship during WWII was that now you're a POW of the Japanese. You'd probably end up dying whether you were picked up or left stranded.
As I recalled 2/3 of the sailors rescued my ikazuchi and inazuma survived the war. Also, this is probably the only case during WWII when IJN actively seeks to rescue enemy combatants, since the official modus operandi for IJN is to kill every enemy soldier they come across. In fact Commander Shunsaku Kudō (the one who made the decision to rescue American and British sailors) had to keep his lips shut less his people suffer from his decision.
Jingyuan Liu A 1 out of 3 death rate is even worse than the average rate among all POWs of the Japanese. At a 33-34% death rate for the "rescued" sailors vs a 27% average rate for all Allied POWs of the Japanese. This is only rivaled by Russian POW camp death rates and surpassed by the truly sickening rates for German POW camps on the Eastern Front, where 55-60% of Russian captured by the Germans died, and 26% of Germans captured by Russians died. The rate for death rates in Russian POW camps peaked at 60% in early 1943.
It is true that the death rate of rescued sailors is higher than the average death rate of all POWs. However, most of the POWs captured by the IJN never made it to the internment camp, and After March 20, 1943, the Japanese Navy was under orders to execute all prisoners taken at sea.
SoranMueller You do realize Kudo risked his whole ship to rescue them right? They wasn't sure if there were submarines in the area(Though there wasn't) but still decided to save them. Thsi many people would hamepr combat operations.
And he also gave them new clothes, food and drinks. The deaths didn't happen until they were turned in as a PoW.
so it's true that kancolle based on true story as kanmusu? i didn't know about this well, but one day some anime kancolle page posted video about Kaga, Akagi, Souryuu and Hiryuu sunk in World War II if i'm not mistake, so i was curious about this and after that i make some researches and watching this video, i'm really so sad seeing them been sunk.
A lot of the Japanese ships in the Pacific War were sunk. So yea Kaga,Akagi,Souryuu and Hiryuu aren't the only Kanmusu that are based on ships that were actually sunk.Even the main character is based on a ship that sunk.
Yep, every kanmusu (whether one of the Japanese ships, or the other Axis and Allies ships that show up) in the game is based on a real vessel from WWII, and many of their quotes from the game drop little tidbits about their history during the war or otherwise reference their eventual fates.
damn im not crying....
