In South Korea, a ship sank on April 16, 2014, killing a total of 304 people. Most of them were 18-year-old students on their last trip to school. When the ship sank, the captain locked the door and escaped alone to prevent the students from leaving. So the crew on the ship helped the students escape. The crew members who helped the students died after staying on the ship to the end. In addition, so many other teachers, students and flight attendants died. Whenever I listen to this music, I think of them. They were still 18 years old. I can't imagine how hard and scary it must have been. I will remember them. I won't forget.
The captain LOCKED THE DOOR on the rest of the people, most of whom were young students?? What in the actual FUCK (pardon my language, but I'm so horrified and outraged)!!! Thanks for posting about this dreadful tragedy. I will look it up. I guess I should watch this film everyone is talking about. How many people survived in the end? Thank gods the rest of the crew and the teachers were heroic enough to do everything in their power to rescue the students, even laying down their lives for it. They should receive posthumous medals of bravery for that. I hope this evil captain went to prison for the rest of his life!!!

A beautiful Japanese song composed by Man Arai (from the album Hayley Sings Japanese Songs) based on the tearful poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Elizabeth_Frye): Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die.
I know you posted this comment 8 years ago, so I need to give an update correction. According to the most recent version of the Wikipedia entry about this poem ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_Not_Stand_at_My_Grave_and_Weep ), Mary Elizabeth Frye is now known to have made false public claims on authorship of this poem. It is now officially acknowledged that the poem (titled 'Immortality') was written by Clare Harner soon after the death of her brother, and first published in the December 1934 issue of a poetry magazine, _The Gypsy_ . The following is her original published version. *Immortality* Do not stand By my grave, and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep- I am the thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints in snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle, autumn rain. As you awake with morning’s hush, I am the swift, up-flinging rush Of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the day transcending night. Do not stand By my grave, and cry- I am not there, I did not die. *- Clare Harner, **_The Gypsy_** , December 1934*
