Cars: Lightning goes through character development. Decent first chapter
Cars 2: Potential for well made trilogy is ruined. Mater takes over with good action, but weak plot.
Cars 3: Falsely advertised, lazily written plot, borefest, McQueen's character arc is dead. Switching with some bland, loud yellow chick. But hey! At least the visuals look nice. At least Cars 2 wasn't lying to it's audience what the focus was.

The funny thing is, if Lighting can go 198 on sand, then on asphalt he should be from 208 to 215, and Storm at his max is 220, so all Lightning needs are slightly better axles and a better engine.
I have a Lightning McQueen thermos that shows his top speed as 230 miles per hour. Considering the quality and intent of the third movie, if Cars 3 is considered to be canon, then so is all of the merchandise.

It is perfectly legal in nascar for a driver to start a race, stop, swap drivers, and keep driving. The only issue is that the person is swapped in has to start at the end of the line. But both drivers both get credit for the win even though only one crossed the line. So what happened at the end of cars 3 when McQueen swaps out with Cruz Is perfectly legal and not bullshit.

Humans can walk down to the store but we still use bikes and What not. (But since they're cars; it seems to be just being 'lazy')
The school bus could also act as a Guardian guiding Little cars to their schools. You woudn't want them getting lost or be on a dangerous situation because they're still small; though made of metal; they universe is filled with larger MATURE cars if that makes sense...
The ending made me feel old:/ I've been growing up with the cars movies and with lightning McQueen always coming back stronger and winning . Them saying he's old and making him a mentor for a new racer makes me feel like it's the end of my childhood 😭

Well, if he's a race car, he's probably homoglated, meaning he shares a set of restrictions exactly like the other racers. Upgrading him would break those restrictions, and the rules.

A thought just occured to me. In this world, McQueen is basically the equivalent of a legendary, 4-time gold medal champion track runner. Wouldn't the vast majority of the newer generation of racecars admire and respect him as much as Cruz did? Wouldn't they view the opportunity to compete against McQueen in a race as a once in a lifetime and exciting moment that they will cherish and brag about for the rest of their lives even if they windup losing to him instead mocking him for being slower due to old age like they do in the movie?

What I think is hilarious about Cars 3 is that they don’t mention ANYTHING about Cars 2. It’s like Pixar said “yeah, we messed up, so here’s a somewhat better movie with no spy stuff”
That’s actually not entirely true, there’s a few references if you pay close attention. For example, at the end of Cars 2, Lightning promises Mater that he can go to all of his races, which we see to be true. Also, when Lightning is flipping through channels on his tv inside Mack when he was sleeping, you get a small clip of a couple kissing on a tiny bridge in Paris which was the same couple from Cars 2. Plus you see Jeff Gorvette appear near the end of Cars 3 which was one of the racers in Cars 2. A fun fact, lightnings paint job in Cars 3 is a mix of his OG Rookie and World Grand Prix paint jobs. Not to mention that Mater’s last line in Cars 2 was his first line in Cars 3. There are a few more but they do mention things in Cars 3 from Cars 2.

@@runsoncaffeine Still, that’s barely even “mentions”. In literally every Pixar interview they try their best to avoid questions about cars 2, and change the topic whenever they’re asked about it. Cars 3 could’ve perfectly fine been “cars 2”, nothing in cars 2 impacted the story what so ever in the slightest. Anyone could watch cars 1 and go straight to cars 3 without having missed a single thing. With cars 2 being the second worst rated movie to ever come out of Pixar, it’s obvious why they want to avoid referencing it and talking about it.

In my opinion, Lightning's training could actually make him faster because in the cars universe, their wheels are like their legs and just like in the human world, they "run". If they train their running or driving, in theory Lightning would actually get faster, just like how runners train their legs and get faster.
The funniest thing about McQueen being slower than Storm is that some minor Changes to Lightning could make a huge difference. We've seen the tuner cars in the first movie, so body parts and engine tuning are a thing in this world. Why doesn't Lightning get some Upgrades too, like a front Splitter, a new Wing instead of his oldschool-style nascar spoiler and some engine tuning for more power? I mean.. the piston cup rules clearly allow such things, 'cause all the new racers (Storm, etc.) have such parts equipped.

Also also, Cruz is a normal commuter car with a slow engine and everything that would weigh one down. She could not just DECIDE to race with nascars. She could never go 200mph, let alone 120. There’s no way she’d be even close to being faster than McQueen just because she cut her exhaust off.

12:24 Cruz may look like lightning, but she does have more power. Lighting's top speed barely pushes 200 while Cruz can hit 210. While Cruz's 0-60 may be 0.6 seconds slower it doesn't mean much in a race like this because there are no major breaking zones, just go a bit slower on the turns. Jackson Storm has a top speed of 214, but if he is in the lead the whole time then he wont be able to draft making Cruz completely viable in this situation.

It might be that Cruz has similar engine specs to McQueen, but different transmission.
If McQueen is rear-drive, then he'd be able to outcompete Storm only by swapping main gear, trading acceleration for higher maximum speed. Alternative could be changing last gear's ratio instead to save acceleration on lower gears but enable higher maximum speed on last gear.
The fact that the voice of Hamilton is actually Lewis hamilton. In Germany Sebastian= Sebastian Vettel and for spanish Fernando= Fernando Alonso... Is pretty cool

Old habits die hard? To be fair, that's something that can happen in real life. Someone learning a lesson but regressing to their old habits the second they get a little frustrated. Changing your nature isn't that easy.

Wait if they could just swap out cars and just slap the same number on them, then what stops other crews from gathering a bunch of racers and have them all blow their energy out in a sprint and constantly swap out? They would have the fastest collective time and would win every single race
Don't know about the rules in this movie, but it's actually allowed in NASCAR to do a driver swap mid-race.

It happened a few years ago in a Nationwide Series race. The original driver was stuck in the air on his helicopter, and another driver started the race. When the original drvier finally landed, he switched with the replacement and won the race. The replacement started the race, so he was credited for the win. So, Cruz shouldn't have even officially won the race abiding by those rules, but Pixar couldn't care less about adhering to source material, so..

Okay so Lightning isn't the fastest anymore that doesn't mean he's washed out yet. A lot of racers get in the top 10 well after their prime and he was getting top 5.
It was less about that lightning wasn't winning everytime and more about that he couldn't physically beat storm despite having more skill and experience

7:23 the reason the bus and RV are capable of keeping up with Lightning McQueen is because even if they used only the outer area of the track and all of it was dry dirt, Lightning still wouldn’t have enough room to gain enough speed without hurting anyone, because even in the first film he doesn’t actually mean painful intentions to anyone but himself by showing off!
Also, even if it was the size of Thomasville Speedway later in the film, remember: Lighting needs the disguise to stay on. Going as fast as a race car could make the mud fly off or make people realize he is going too fast to be an average car
