Cars trilogy in a nutshell Cars: Lightning goes through character development. Decent first chapter Cars 2: Potential for well made trilogy is ruined. Mater takes over with good action, but weak plot. Cars 3: Falsely advertised, lazily written plot, borefest, McQueen's character arc is dead. Switching with some bland, loud yellow chick. But hey! At least the visuals look nice. At least Cars 2 wasn't lying to it's audience what the focus was.
The funny thing is, if Lighting can go 198 on sand, then on asphalt he should be from 208 to 215, and Storm at his max is 220, so all Lightning needs are slightly better axles and a better engine.
I have a Lightning McQueen thermos that shows his top speed as 230 miles per hour. Considering the quality and intent of the third movie, if Cars 3 is considered to be canon, then so is all of the merchandise.

A thought just occured to me. In this world, McQueen is basically the equivalent of a legendary, 4-time gold medal champion track runner. Wouldn't the vast majority of the newer generation of racecars admire and respect him as much as Cruz did? Wouldn't they view the opportunity to compete against McQueen in a race as a once in a lifetime and exciting moment that they will cherish and brag about for the rest of their lives even if they windup losing to him instead mocking him for being slower due to old age like they do in the movie?
Well, if he's a race car, he's probably homoglated, meaning he shares a set of restrictions exactly like the other racers. Upgrading him would break those restrictions, and the rules.
What I think is hilarious about Cars 3 is that they don’t mention ANYTHING about Cars 2. It’s like Pixar said “yeah, we messed up, so here’s a somewhat better movie with no spy stuff”
That’s actually not entirely true, there’s a few references if you pay close attention. For example, at the end of Cars 2, Lightning promises Mater that he can go to all of his races, which we see to be true. Also, when Lightning is flipping through channels on his tv inside Mack when he was sleeping, you get a small clip of a couple kissing on a tiny bridge in Paris which was the same couple from Cars 2. Plus you see Jeff Gorvette appear near the end of Cars 3 which was one of the racers in Cars 2. A fun fact, lightnings paint job in Cars 3 is a mix of his OG Rookie and World Grand Prix paint jobs. Not to mention that Mater’s last line in Cars 2 was his first line in Cars 3. There are a few more but they do mention things in Cars 3 from Cars 2.

It happened a few years ago in a Nationwide Series race. The original driver was stuck in the air on his helicopter, and another driver started the race. When the original drvier finally landed, he switched with the replacement and won the race. The replacement started the race, so he was credited for the win. So, Cruz shouldn't have even officially won the race abiding by those rules, but Pixar couldn't care less about adhering to source material, so..

I noticed it since the first time I saw Cars 3 that Lighting was acting strange around the female yellow car for being already in a relationship with the blue one. That was defenetivly not innocent. It actually disturbs me quite a lot amd one of the reasons I dislike Cars 3.
Actually it's obvious that it's pretty much Terminator with cars.I mean look at all the self driving cars that are starting to be worked on.Eventually humanity started delving too much into the idea of Self driving cars and AI that they created an AI too complicated for them to understand causing the AI to multiplate itself with different personality constructs and place itself into every vehicle.Then the vehicles killed most of the human population and used the surviving humans as slaves to work at the car factories.After the grand take-over was completed the AI wiped out all history of humanity from their knowledge made all the regular cars believe that they have been the only species on the planet the whole time.Only the special cars that guard the car factories know the truth.
Okay so Lightning isn't the fastest anymore that doesn't mean he's washed out yet. A lot of racers get in the top 10 well after their prime and he was getting top 5.
It was less about that lightning wasn't winning everytime and more about that he couldn't physically beat storm despite having more skill and experience

The funniest thing about McQueen being slower than Storm is that some minor Changes to Lightning could make a huge difference. We've seen the tuner cars in the first movie, so body parts and engine tuning are a thing in this world. Why doesn't Lightning get some Upgrades too, like a front Splitter, a new Wing instead of his oldschool-style nascar spoiler and some engine tuning for more power? I mean.. the piston cup rules clearly allow such things, 'cause all the new racers (Storm, etc.) have such parts equipped.
I don't think the piston cup allows for upgrading. Once a racer is built, it basically is stuck with its technology. Lightning mqueen was the fastest in his rookie years because he was more advanced than the other cars technology wise. The veteran racers at the time weren't allowed to upgrade, so Lightning wouldn't be able to upgrade either. Maybe this is why Cal says his uncle told him the youngsters will tell you when to retire.
It is perfectly legal in nascar for a driver to start a race, stop, swap drivers, and keep driving. The only issue is that the person is swapped in has to start at the end of the line. But both drivers both get credit for the win even though only one crossed the line. So what happened at the end of cars 3 when McQueen swaps out with Cruz Is perfectly legal and not bullshit.

Kids are depicted in the universe as smaller (one in seen on Cars 2; Japan) so most probably; they haul cars in them as a form of convenience/service; not just to get from Point A to Point B. Humans can walk down to the store but we still use bikes and What not. (But since they're cars; it seems to be just being 'lazy') The school bus could also act as a Guardian guiding Little cars to their schools. You woudn't want them getting lost or be on a dangerous situation because they're still small; though made of metal; they universe is filled with larger MATURE cars if that makes sense...
In my opinion, Lightning's training could actually make him faster because in the cars universe, their wheels are like their legs and just like in the human world, they "run". If they train their running or driving, in theory Lightning would actually get faster, just like how runners train their legs and get faster.
mqueen wouldn't be able to go over 212 mph because that's the fastest we have seen him go in the piston cup. Cars are machines and they cannot train themselves to go faster like humans can. Since humans are organic, they can become physically fit. Cars have limitations because of the way they were built. However one way queen could beat storm is by out drafting the next gens since drafting can actually help cars go faster
they still need to be replaced, in the first movie he loses at least 3 tires, just like real life cars they wear out and need to be replaced over times

Young mcqueen beat francesco who is faster than storm. But mcqueen wasnt faster than either of these cars. So how did he win, mcqueen might not be faster but he is a better racer which makes him faster to the finish. Young mcqueen would've beaten storm. Young mcqueen was outlapping great cars(the king and chick) like it was nothing. He was down a lap twice in that piston cup race, the second time in the final 10 laps and he still caught up and took a massive lead. Young lightening would beat storm. Hell old lightening might have done it had he been able to draft had he not started at the back. Simply put mcqueen lost because of age. New tech doesnt make them better racers

The funniest thing about McQueen being slower than Storm is that some minor Changes to Lightning could make a huge difference. We've seen the tuner cars in the first movie, so body parts and engine tuning are a thing in this world. Why doesn't Lightning get some Upgrades too, like a front Splitter, a new Wing instead of his oldschool-style nascar spoiler and some engine tuning for more power? I mean.. the piston cup rules clearly allow such things, 'cause all the new racers (Storm, etc.) have such parts equipped.
I don't think the piston cup allows for upgrading. Once a racer is built, it basically is stuck with its technology. Lightning mqueen was the fastest in his rookie years because he was more advanced than the other cars technology wise. The veteran racers at the time weren't allowed to upgrade, so Lightning wouldn't be able to upgrade either. Maybe this is why Cal says his uncle told him the youngsters will tell you when to retire.
It is perfectly legal in nascar for a driver to start a race, stop, swap drivers, and keep driving. The only issue is that the person is swapped in has to start at the end of the line. But both drivers both get credit for the win even though only one crossed the line. So what happened at the end of cars 3 when McQueen swaps out with Cruz Is perfectly legal and not bullshit.

In my opinion, Lightning's training could actually make him faster because in the cars universe, their wheels are like their legs and just like in the human world, they "run". If they train their running or driving, in theory Lightning would actually get faster, just like how runners train their legs and get faster.
mqueen wouldn't be able to go over 212 mph because that's the fastest we have seen him go in the piston cup. Cars are machines and they cannot train themselves to go faster like humans can. Since humans are organic, they can become physically fit. Cars have limitations because of the way they were built. However one way queen could beat storm is by out drafting the next gens since drafting can actually help cars go faster
they still need to be replaced, in the first movie he loses at least 3 tires, just like real life cars they wear out and need to be replaced over times

Young mcqueen beat francesco who is faster than storm. But mcqueen wasnt faster than either of these cars. So how did he win, mcqueen might not be faster but he is a better racer which makes him faster to the finish. Young mcqueen would've beaten storm. Young mcqueen was outlapping great cars(the king and chick) like it was nothing. He was down a lap twice in that piston cup race, the second time in the final 10 laps and he still caught up and took a massive lead. Young lightening would beat storm. Hell old lightening might have done it had he been able to draft had he not started at the back.
