Chums… The medium classic flap is now 10k… *moment of silence* Allright then, instead of dwelling on what we can’t change, why not focus on all the gorgeous great quality vintage pieces still in abundance! Here is a short list of all my FAVORITE vintage/discontinued bags. I’ve loved so many of these bags for over a decade and I hope to eventually add every single one to my collection. When I go back to Japan (because we all know Japan has some of the best vintage consignment stores) I’m definitely going to try to get a few vintage pieces for sure ~~ after my Loewe era, it’ll be my Vintage era キュンキュン 🤍🤍🤍

I have the vintage lv amazon, it’s the one that looks like danube, but it has the 2 zip compartments. It’s all leather inside and honestly the quality is sooo much better compared to new LV bags. I literally take it everywhere and I dont have to baby it. Super sturdy. Really great piece, I got mine in Japan for only like 700 usd (such a steal) and it was an unused stock too. Hope you get one too! 😍

Omg…I have the vintage WOC with the zipper in the back…I have it in patent leather in black, I got it from Vestiaire for $800 during lockdown…that was my 1st Chanel purchase…I feel so lucky to have it…I recently just got a rectangular Chanel Mini also in patent leather in red from Fashionphile for a very good price…when it comes to Chanel I realize I prefer the patent leather over the Lambskin
I have the celine trio but in the goat skin leather and its so durable. It fits so much for a small cross body bag and love taking it on holidays!

Also bought a vintage Dior from Qoo Vintage for around 400 dollars. They are both my favorite bags. (Reaching my purse peace mode now lol

Chanel hiking up prices is so that they can be more exclusive bcoz the very rich people will not want to buy a bag that everyone else can buy. this goes the same for LV.
Totally feel you on no more brand new boutique flaps! I was priced out two or three increases ago. I bought the a light pink classic flap a couple years ago new and the price on it at the time was already hard for me to justify, but it was my dream bag in my dream color and told myself that the same color might never come around again so I should get it while I can. So glad I got it at the time because I don't think I would have bought it at today's price.
I also got a vintage classic black lambskin medium flap from Japan last year that looks a lot like how your mom's vintage looks! I was never really into the flatter vintage look before, but when I saw it in person it just stole my heart. Would love a tweed or brown chanel someday, but between the vintage black medium and the small pink, I feel pretty content with my classics. I love them equally even though the vintage was waaaay cheaper (with the exchange rate it was about 2.5k usd) so I'd only want to add a bag if the right bag came around at the right price preloved.
Definitely have a couple pieces I am considering from the vintage second hand market - Hermes Bolide, Chanel Vanity to name a few. The Chanel lamb skins from 2010 (to earlier) are chef’s kiss. Completely agree with you 💯
I loveee my Celine trio! I have the black one in large ($350 on Poshmark) which is like an everyday bag and that light teal one you had up in the small ($275 on Posh). As long as you distribute your things evenly it looks nice. Mine hasnt squished either. I would definitely check on Mercari or poshmark! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the mama baguette! Mine is a slightly more square version and it’s my favourite Fendi baguette (out of my 4 baguettes 🤪)
Dior Trotter Boston bag is also one of my favourites! Would love it in green or brown Trotter prints - you can’t find these colours in the newer bags now!

Yay super video ❣…..you need the ALL😆…..but definitely need the fendi mama baguette and the LV Danube my bff has both and found them on fashionphile for great prices! …the Chanel medallion tote is vintage a classic and so well made as well, you need that too 😃….I am a decorator and many of my clients are designer bag lovers…all of them say vintage is the way to go, …….ps you can have your papillon bag vachetta replaced, it would really rev up that beautiful you have!
The mama baguette is the best! I used my Fendi zucca strap with it and s even better than the new version
Such a gorgeous chanel mini. You're super lucky to have a mom that shares the love of luxury fashion houses! Yes to the Fendi mama baguette and the LV Eva!! I got into the Eva too late, so then I thought I'd settle for the favorite PM and then that got discontinued too. 🥺 So sad. The preloved pricing is just not worth it. I agree. I loved the thick canvas. I'm not sure the entire reason for thinning it out but, people def complained that it would crack. So thinning it out would make it more pliable.
So the LV Danube ... I love it. Thank you sharing this! I've actually been looking at this exact style but, from Gucci. I didn't even realize LV did one before. It's just so practical and easy going.

I honestly don’t understand why LV discontinued the favorite or the Eva because they did SO well smh. Agreed though a lot of US pre loved sites in generally I think are straight money mongers 🫠
And the price points on the danube are actually so so good and they have so many different types mini or big ugh so tempting rn 😭
I have the Celine trio in light grey. Of course it expands when you put stuff in it but it holds a lot of stuff and leather has wears well

I bought my mom a vintage Amazona (the double pocket version of the Danube) for $600 last year! It’s so yummy. I believe the inside is leather lined too. I tried to get another for myself, but now they’re a little more expensive, and I take my mom’s haha

I would say no to the Céline Trio. I have the Coach version cuz I wanted to try out, once you stuff things in, it looses its shape, my Coach only has two layers, I can’t imagine having 3 layers. Yes, you can still get them in outlets. You can get the leather portion replaced at LV, Meredith has most of her preloved pieces replaced and they look brand new. Love the upload frequency lately ❤
Dior Men has a bag similar to the Boston Bag and that is the Mini Roller Messenger Bag! But we definitely want the Boston Back!!!
I actually disagree with the quality being better back in the days. I had Fendi mamma baguette and the magnetic closure broke off very quickly. I haven’t even worn it that much and gave it to charity a few years back. Same with Chanel Cambon pochette. I still have the black and white one. it’s cute, but the chain on the zipper broke off only after a few wears. Old LV and Dior pieces are still good though.
Noooo the magnetic closure broke off?! I hope the texture and feel of the canvas at least was still good and not the Chanel zipper but you have the cambon pochette that’s still glorious 😭
@@maggyxchuu I know.. Those were all part of my teenage years bag collection 🙈🙈 The zucca canvas was okay, but most of them fade and shrink with time I think. As far as I remember the leather details also started cracking 😢 However, my Dior oblique saddle pouch still looks almost like new and I wore it a lot. Makes me think that Dior fabrics/canvases/leathers are of a better quality compared to LV, Fendi, etc. So my guess is Dior of mid-late 2000 is still worth buying pre-loved/vintage if it’s in good condition with no stains, etc. Forgot to mention that old Gucci canvases and good too ❤️
I like the LV Danube and think it is a great option! It does look like they did bring it back in a newer print. I can’t remember what they called it. I saw it on the website about a month ago.
there's a preloved shop in beverly hills, they were selling a mamma baguette. Not really my style, but would be worth checking out next time you're down there to see if they have any.
i kinda want a preloved baguette, they have a lot of really creative embroidery. Also there's a ysl cabas bag, which is like their version of a speedy but you can get it in really bright colors.
I found this really odd hourglass shaped patent leather vintage YSL bag on TRR that i love. Idk even know what the model name is.

The first time I saw the LV Danube was in South Coast Plaza and they would bring busloads of Japanese tourist to shop and they all had that bag. I have 2 vintage LV's and 1 new one and the vintage is by far better than the new one. I am also a vintage junkie, I want the LV Ellipse in MM. I loved that bag back in the day. I also want the Bloise, every time I see it on the preloved market, it sells so fast. I've had my eye on the Chanel Cambon large tote.
New goal of 2023 adding the Danube you just reaffirmed the decision 😂 See I didn’t appreciate the wear and worn out look before but honestly now I love it so much it, even with vintage LV the slight firmness of the canvas idk it’s so special. hey maggie - coincidentally, i saw the celine trio at outlet over the wkd. they also had a few seasonal ava and seau sangle bags. loewe had a lot of seasonal bags in the classic styles you mentioned you liked and also in the mini zipped top one in a green ombre? lots of monogrammed canvas at loewe.

@maggyxchuu they had a few at the desert hills, one in Cabazon, CA. Also, they had a bunch of in season bags at Bottega. They'll call you if you have a specific colorway in mind and they get it in.

I also have one of my mom’s vintage LV and the canvas is sooo different. I sometimes don’t mind the newer version as it feels more pliable and lighter but I know that’s the trade-off for not being as hard-wearing. But the fact that prices are so high for less quality materials is just 😒
I love the older Fendi Baguette where the shoulder strap is using belt fastening and longer. I don't like both the straps they have now either too long or too short... And not a fan of lobster clasp too 😔
LV repair takes almost about 6 months, and you can get a quote through email on their website.
I believe LV had the Danube up until 2020 in the mens collection but it has extra details by Virgil Abloh that is different compared to the vintage Danube.
