I've seen many GFX 100s reviews, but this is the one that actually convinced me to order one for myself. Fujifilm America, let this guy keep the GFX 100s--he's an awesome sales person. Thank you for this informative yet "emotional" review, Chris. Hello from an X-PRO3 shooter who lives in Seoul, Korea.
This is, without a doubt, one of the best, if not the best, videos I've ever seen about a camera. No annoying, extraneous talking-just straight-forward, clear, concise information. I want to be taught about a camera, not to be entertained. Almost all of my questions and concerns about the camera were discussed and answered to my satisfaction.
There's a zero chance of me buying this camera but I watched the whole video because Chris is not just a reviewer, he's a teacher. I now know what a medium format camera is. If this world was fair Chris would have millions of subs. Thank you, man.
If you like the 80mm then you need to try the 110mm F2.... even better. ;). I’m a Fashion & Beauty photographer, and also Fujifilm Ambassador over here in the UK, and the GF110mm F2 is my favourite lens of all for my work. Great channel by the way - you do the system justice. 😁
That last segment! I wonder how this would turn out if you have the appropriate time to review the products. Been a fujifilm user of X100F and xt3 now you convince me to buy and order this camera before an upcoming trip next year! More power pal2tech!
It is wonderful to hear that Fujifilm North America has recognised your skill and knowledge of fuji gear and thus, provided you with a medium format GFX 100s. As always, a fantastic review!
Every time I watch this channel, I forget about the camera gear and wonder what other type of TV programming or channel you can come up with next. Great work as usual!
Thanks a lot for this video Chris!!! Watching your reviews is always a pleasure and a great learning experience. I hope Fujifilm USA will keep lending equipment to you so we can benefit from more and more reviews. I think the GFX100S is an incredible camera and I even considered buying one for a while, but then I remembered I am an amateur photographer and the XT4 is already too much for my level 😊.
WOW! I downloaded the purple flower image you have in Dropbox and my mouth is still on the floor. I cropped down to one singe purple flower at 16x20 at 300 res and you can STILL ZOOM IN MORE! Unbelievable!
been waiting for months for THIS review! I was also happy to see Hugh Brownstone take a stab! I'm in love with the IQ. What a great video, love you so much. Now I'm going to wait for the new GFX50 and maybe XH-2. While I love this so much (dream photo cam) I want a bit better in video...yes it can record ProRes RAW like my FX3 but clearly, it's line skipped/pixel binned because it's so massive to bring down to only 4K. I'm in love with my FX3. That said I love Fujifilm a lot. Even my X-S10 has made me a believer. They really have some special sauce!!!
I just want to say Thanks for all you do on keeping us informed with really well thought out and honest opinions. Lots of examples, Lots of analogies, Lots of down to earth suggestions of what worked for you and why it is important for us to make our own decisions. Thanks Much! je
i am X-H1 user love its ergonomics and toughness. Would love to add this as its bigger bro after a year. this gfx100s is comparatively reasonable priced that many other brand medium formats
An other enjoyable video from a nice guy like you! And, for an italian as I'm, a very good and well spoken english language: I can understand at least 95% of your speech! Great!
Yes I love you man😂. A+ on the Fuji GFX 100s I’m very pleased.. If I was to get it I would only need the 80mm f1.7 and the 45mm for my studio portraits. Thank you for that exquisite review.
Thank you for saying you are tired of hearing that “smartphones are the only camera you need”. I also hate when people say that and nobody has said it before
Hahaha! Yeah, I actually had a bit in there where I lamented the removal of the d-pad, but cut at last minute for time. Yep, I'm eagerly awaiting that update as well!!!! 👍
Love to hear that the camera is a real camera and an A+. I love that you have to know what you are doing . As a Seasoned pro who Learned on film at Uni it sounds like We need to do things right or as they say simply shoot professionally. In the not so distant past I had to get things right on a single exposure with no ibis or eye tracking or exposure simulation display too easy. On a 102mp Med format Who honestly cares about video?
I tested this camera also and it is a beast. But to be honest this camera is build for photography. It can do video but I wouldn’t be my first choice. For landscape and studio work like portraits and product shoots its great. For architecture it would also be a great cam but then you need a good tilt and shift option like a lens a something from Cambo. You can create billboards with this thing. I really mis the vertical grip for fashion shoots. And the 110mm f2 is the most beautiful portrait lens I ever used! Try to use it if you can sometimes. This camera is the best answer for the ridiculous expensive Hasselblad’s. I ended up with a lumix s1r for my quick studio work because the other gfx100 is to bulky. Great review and thx again!
YAAAY!!! Pal2Tech goes BIG leagues FUJI!! Sooo happy to see you try medium format!!! More GFX videos please!!! I can tell you were excited to play with this camera...... Thanks Fuji USA for hooking him up with a demo unit and lenses!
Great review. I love my 50S, but this camera looks like it replace the Pentax 67 in my heart. I have been missing the Pentax ever since I sold it. I also have long wanted a 617 camera. The 100S is almost as good as the Fuji 617 and 200 times easier and cheaper to use. I like the Fuji X series but ibis in a 100 mb sensor is heaven. Now I have to learn to take decent photographs. That’s the hard part.
Great review. I’ve been shooting with this camera for a couple months and you said it perfectly - “it’s camera, and a joy to use”. I do treat it with more respect and have become more picky on what’s in the frame before shooting. Not sure why, - it just feels like a camera. Still love my iPhone, but the iPhone is not my camera.
Great review Chris, now I want one ! Unfortunately it will probably never happen due to budget constraints and realistically it has limited use , but wow for landscape photography it would be amazing. A good start in taking your channel in a new direction.
The price is actually very good in medium format world. I own the GFX 50R. And I just purchased the GF 110mm- it’s absolutely incredible! You should buy one? Seriously-nothing matches MF, nothing!
@@Vinterloft I've had both, my xs10 has gone back, nice camera but after using my xh1 I just couldn't get used to such a small body, faster AF than my xh1 but ergonomically not in the same league as an xh1 I'm afraid
Unless I win the lottery or find that rich, long lost uncle, this will never be in my budget. But I do enjoy watching reviews on it, just to see where Fujifilm is heading with technology and such. Well done, thorough review as always. Now back to my lowly XT-3 lol.
Im happy you finally get a taste of that beast, and share the experience with us 👌 excellent video review as usual, for me just a dream that make me drooling all over, even the cheapest one, hahha.. Tbh i got no use for that camera btw, better keep my lovingly xpro1 (its old, i know) .. 😁
OMG Noooooo, I bought XT4 only a few months ago and I'm stopping myself from pulling the triggers, your video doesn't help! haha. Seriously, great great video!
Maybe with 100% of my talent and effort, bingeing your videos, and practicing what I learn from them,... MAYBE I can succeed enough to wield one of those beauties one day.
Own both a 50r and the 100s. I enjoy both but I just love my 50r. The shutter clunk not only reminds me of my film Mamiya 645 but it also scares away other photographers who sway too close. Hahaha!! I use three lenses- 30mm, 45mm and 100-200. I also have an adapter for my old Minolta lenses the best IMO being my Minolta Rokkor 58mm 1.4!!!!
The bottom line if I could of kept this camera a little bit longer lol. Fantastic and informative review I now have a better understanding about moving into medium format.
Glad Fujifilm has recognized a fine UA-camr. I may give into the Medium Format temptation when the 50S II comes out with the 35-70 (of unknown aperture) "kit" lens. The bundle is expected to cost $4500. At which point, MF will be difficult to resist. Still, I don't know how I'll adjust to the weight. Never thought I'd go beyond the XT-3 and 16-55 f/2.8 when it comes to heft.
I have the gfx 100s and assorted prime lenses from Fuji. I was already in the system since 2018, so I traded in my 50s and other stuff to get the 100s. It's a great great camera that I use for my commercial and editorial work. But it is pricey.
Han didn’t even give Greedo a chance to shoot. Great video! Also, sensor size is something people forget about when saying camera phones can replace an actual camera. Even a micro 4/3s camera will give significantly more detail than the newest smartphones out there. My XT4 smashes detail out of the water compared to my iPhone 12 Pro. Phone cameras are great for convenience and portability, not for detail, basic camera customization via iso shutter and aperture, and professional work. This is always forgotten when the next new phone comes out.
Looks an amazing camera. Definitely not for me, though! Love that you got the whole family involved doing the review, though! Great review, maybe you could ask Fujifilm for it back to check out the features more?
Hi Chris, I hope you haven't given up any more XT4 videos / reviews. Yeah, the medium format Fuji cameras are nice but with its price, weight / bulkiness and limited features it's not the camera for me and probably not for others too. Thanx for all your videos / reviews.

It's perceptibly deeper. Anyway, a comparison to the obsolete X-H1 is moot as long as the much smaller, cheaper and better X-S10 exists.

Low flash sync speed is not an issue. If you are using a flash then your flash speed is what you use for exposure... so the sync speed is moot
