when i got a fmf fatty for my yz 250, i used to coat it in wd-40 after every wash, dirt never stuck to it and it looked new for a years after i got it :)
Hey another tip: instead of WD-40, try Mothers metal polish. I used and my pipe shines SO MUCH! also you can use it on the stock/aftermarket but pull the stickers off. And if you want, replace the gaskets and rings on chamber every 3 months or so to keep it sounding and running good. My brothers bike had exhaust leak and the oils and crap stopped exhaust from going into chamber, and it blew up. Nice video! Peace!
Yes, I had it out a couple of weeks ago. Stock jetting is too rich & I ordered new chain & sprockets with new gearing. I'm making the changes now and will be out in the next few weeks.
Yea. If you get it dirty or riding through tons of mud, just clean it like normal and it stays protected. Make sure after you put the polish on, get some really good metal protectant or something that will stay on a long time. Also you can shine your frame if you have an aluminum frame like honda. Peace!
Hey Matthew I wanted to get your opinion on something. My gytr pipe on on my 450 has a screen type spark arrestor that i would prefer to have taken out, have you ever heard of any negative effects on the engine due to removing the screen because of the back pressure? Thanks!
Its a supermoto so i wont be in any woods to start a fire and i just want it loud. But anyway i just took it out earlier and its wayy too obnoxious lol leaving it in! Its loud enough with it in

I'm looking forward to hearing this kx run again, any chance of some onboard footage when you ride it?
Thanks I'll try that.
True. I don't own one at the moment.
that spray bottle is very smart. I didn't see anything of similar in Italy
+meschio Yes, I buy wd-40 in a gallon and use a spray bottle. I was sick of picking up aerosol cans with spend propellant.

Let me start by asking why do you want to remove it???

I have a steel frame. It's an 01' KX250.
The way to clean the pro circuit pipes is to use some mothers mag and aluminum polish it gives a mirror like finish
Great Lakes Hooligan I use the mothers mag on wheels, pipes, frames. Stuff does wonders.
Anyone knows how to repair on of this if it''s been pushed inside from a crash
What grade steel wool u using and won't it leave scratches?
+MAtt Gehrke I forgot what type of steel wool I used. It did not leave any scratches.
I'm guessing it was 0000 super fine steel wool. I'm give that a try on my pro circuits that are badly rusted.
+MAtt Gehrke Do you have a plated or "works" pipe?
I don't think its plated it's a pro circuit platinums off my banshee.
+MAtt Gehrke Yeah I meant platinum which is plated/coated or whatever.
Matt, what is your take on spraying WD-40 on drive chains as a lubricant?
There are better products out there. Use a chain lubricant/wax as they won't fling off or attract dirt.
A grinder with a wire wheel would be faster save some time but cool vid
is it anoyying to be left handed and the throttle is on the right
I'm a lefty and have no problem with throttle on right. It is what it is and you get used to it.
+MatthewMCRepair a good manteinance is to spray wd40 after every wash of the bike.
Yes, I typically hit some spots with WD-40 after a wash.
Sorry I disappointed you.
