- The Pony Express Museum in Saint Joseph Missouri.
The Pony Express Museum is a transport museum in Saint Joseph, Missouri, documenting the history of the Pony Express, the first fast mail line across the North American continent from the Missouri River to the Pacific coast. (Wikipedia)
In operation for only 18 months between April 1860 and October 1861, the Pony Express nevertheless has become synonymous with the Old West. In the era before electronic communication, the Pony Express was the thread that tied East to West

The Pony Express was set up to provide a fresh horse every 10-15 miles and a fresh rider every 75-100 miles. 75 horses were needed total to make a one-way trip. Average speed was 10 miles per hour. I googled that last bit.

I can't imagine riding those kinds of distances at the pace they did on horseback! Incredible!!!
Yes that would be brutal the riders did 100 miles and the horses did 10. Thanks for watching 👍

Yes, thank you 😊
It's quite amazing how far we have come from the Pony Express days. Needed the Internet back then. Ha ha. It's certainly a fascinating museum. If we don't remember and learn about the past, then we will never know how far we have come.
That's kinda what happened the Telegraph killed it 🤪 Thanks for watching 👍
I was captivated by the pony express when i was a little boy. Pretty cool museum to it.

Fascinating museum with great exhibits, they were certainly wild but I bet exciting times 👍🏻
Thanks 😊 they were definitely tougher than us 😂
It's hard to imagine these guys riding their horses across America to deliver mail for weeks on end in what would have been really tough, treacherous and dangerous conditions. Great museum that perfectly encapsulates those pioneer times in the US. Well done Brian. Very cool find!
Thanks 😊 they were a hardy bunch
Awesome Video Thanks For Sharing 👍

Wow what a treat to be at the Saint Joseph Missouri Museum. The museum features many exotic sculptures, sculptures that can be seen in Madam Tussaud's museum. Very cool museum and we can travel back in time.
Thanks 😊
@@SomeplaceOrAnother you're welcome
Nice share 😁👍
Thanks 👍
This was so cool, it was great to see this museum and have a glimpse at how life would be like at that time. Love those ornaments of the horses pulling the carts!

Great video Brian, I enjoyed the video and hope you have ca blessed weekend my friend.
Thanks 😊 you too 👍
That was really interesting. Lynn and Danny
Thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed
Awesome that you stumbled on this museum! No female riders 😢! Interesting museum!
I had planned to go here second but since I stopped 🤪 I don't think the women were interested in riding. A different era and most were orphaned boys so I guess no one would miss them 😢 It was pretty dangerous work. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice video to add with your other pony express tours/info.
Thanks 😊 it was a interesting place
Back in the day
Thanks 😊
This is a really neat museum. I remember learning about this in school when i was younger. I don’t think they teach the kids about this now but I’m not sure. Cool place. 👍
Thanks 😊 it's amazing how well know it is for something that lasted 18 months. Then the Telegraph came out.
Very cool! The toaster among the supplies caught my attention, too -- who knew toasters were popular before the invention of electricity? Wow, the water pump was pretty cool. There was an 11 year old as a pony express rider??? That's crazy. Good video!
Thanks 😊 it's wild how young they were 😱
Interesting
Thanks 😊
Pretty cool stop and museum. We live right on the Pony Express trail here where it passes through Utah. So if you hop on a horse there I might just see you in a couple weeks! LOL. Always fun to explore the museums and the trail. Have a great day.
Thanks 😊 I'll pass on the horse ride 😂🤪
Almost 2,000 miles carrying the mail in 10 days was quite a feat back in that era. I did a change of address to our new place almost 3 weeks ago and still haven't received any! 🤣🤣 As you mention there is lots to see in this piece of American History. Many interesting displays of both the Pony Express and the wagon trains to the west. But, it sounds like not many folks put that effort into the water pump! Maybe some oil like the Tin Man? Loved the tour, Brian.
Need to hire some Pony express riders they will get the job done 😂 Thanks 😊
This was a very interesting museum Brian (can’t believe how these guys rode a 100 miles a day 😮)
But without their endeavours the country would have been way more disconnected 🙏🏼
Great video
Best regards Simon 👍🤠
100 miles on a horse was a long day too 🥵 Thanks for watching 👍
Super interesting! All we got to say is that we are glad we aren’t pioneers 😳 not cut out for that
Yep 👍 me too. I don't think I would last to long 🤪
Sure is a good time
There
I've
Never been
There
Before
Thanks 😊
I’ve always wanted to stop here; just have never been able to make the trip to St. Joseph for a visit
It's worth a visit lots of interesting places in town. Thanks for watching 👍
@@SomeplaceOrAnother Of course! I learn about all kinds of fascinating places and interesting things from you
Awesome B《☆》WestWard Ho👍🏾☕🤳Don't ferget the Saltines✌🏼😎☯️
Can't forget those 😂 Thanks for watching 👍
What do you use to find your spots. I usually use Roadside America. Always discovering new museums with Your Channel. Buffalo Bill really made his mark. They did a great job setting the scene.
I used to use Roadtrippers. But now I'm looking for a new app. They wronged me with this years auto pay that doesn't even give the same features I used last year without paying more. I think I might be able to use Google and Roadside America. I'm bitter can you tell? 🤪
Hallo, vielen Dank für deine tolle Arbeit 🔔 schönes Wochenende 👍 Siggi & Anne❤freue mich auf gegenseitige Unterstützung 👍🎹
Thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed
I believe most of the riders were boys and not men. Kool museum.
Yep 👍 and most were orphans so no one would miss them. Now that's sad.
@@SomeplaceOrAnother agreed 👍, won't see that in a western, not popular 🤔..
The way the world is going and we are told cars are bad....we maybe will be using horses again..
That's a different kind of pollution 🤪 Thanks for watching 👍
😂 I think I parked in the same spot.
Hard to go almost 2000 miles without toast!
I know 🤪 I alway bring my toaster 🤔 😂
Yep 👍 great minds think alike 🤪
A bar restaurant
Love the fake horses. Very cool museum.
Thanks 😊 it was a great museum
We don't see a toaster on that list either
🤪 they need to add a generator 😂
I’m quite far behind on my watching time “Sorry” 😂 been spending way too much time in the reel world watching Circuses 🎪🫢 This looks a fun & interesting place to visit, thanks for taking us with you ❤🫶xx
You and me both 🤪 😂
Another great museum tour
Thanks 😊
