I have had two Savannah's, my first an F3 who sadly passed from cancer a year ago at 10yrs, and my current, an F2. Everything you have said is true, and both followed me around all the time. They are extremely loyal and loving! I've had my big girl for a year now, and she readily plays with me, lets me pick her up, and cuddles on my lap, but my wife gets hissed at (a common thing with Savannah's) and shy's away from being touched by her. She's not aggressive towards my wife, and would never hurt my wife, but is just not as loving as she is with me. They are a great pet, but you have to understand that they are extremely high maintenance, requiring the litter box to be cleaned a couple times a day, and LOTS of attention. I highly recommend them IF you are willing to spend the time and effort!

I am so sorry to hear that your F3 passed away. Savannah cats are so adorable, and thanks for mentioning that they are high maintenance. Other viewers will find the info useful. Thanks for watching!

My F3 died too. I gave him AIDS right in his bee whole. He put up a good fight but I had to put him down a few months ago via the beating him to death with a dirty sock full of nickels method. My sister and my mother were there for support.

She proudly flaunts her bee whole probably all of the time around the house I bet. I constantly wake up with my F3's balls and/or bee whole right in my face almost every morning. He learned how to unlock doors even. All just so he could tea bag me every morning with his balls and dirty bee whole. It's pretty awesome.

I guess you could say we got our F2 Savannah as a rescue. Some of my son's friends had 2 kids, 2 dogs, and one other cat. One kid is a baby a few months old, other kid is textbook example of a terrible 2. He would not leave the Savannah cat alone, always picking at it or aggravating it somehow. One day, not surprisingly, terrible 2 got too rough and cat made a self-defensive bite. The parents couldn't control their two year old, so the cat had to go. Now. Period.
We took him in, cautiously. The big boy (cat) is right at 18" tall, four to five feet long including tail, 30-40 pounds....the size of a BIG bobcat, and he acted just as mean when I first met him. First time he saw me he growled, and it made the hair on back of my neck stand up. Yes, I was intimidated. First round goes to the F2....
First couple of days were interesting. Here's this 35 pound upset (and lost) cat growling and hissing at everything. Not happy at all.
I knew if we were to successfully adopt him into our home, we would all have to become acquainted . The cat already knew my son, vaguely, as the nice guy who would visit sometimes. He didn't know, or like, me at all. Originally, he would stand several feet away and growl etc. Wanted no interaction. I didn't force it at all. I would go into "his" room after work and just sit and talk to him. Nothing more, but I'd be there for a couple hours or more, just talking to him and walking around his bed, etc. Made it a point to look at, and touch, his toys, bed etc.
Gradually, the growling etc was replaced with silent cat curiosity. He didn't complain so much, but intently watched every move I made. He explored the house more, didn't object when I came in to talk, even gave me official cat leg rubs, as he would walk by, after a week or so. Yes!!! Progress!!!
We got him in late January, so he's been here six weeks or so now.
Now the once growling and scary giant cat is just a big baby.
He's bonded with both my son and I. We've both handled/raised a multitude of critters, but this Savannah is something special indeed. We've taught him a few things already, in the short time he's been here.
He comes when you whistle (but keep a treat or two handy), is learning how to sit and lay down (being a cat, he's REALLY good at laying down but sitting doesn't thrill him much), and fetches (when he's in the mood).
Just last night I was chilling in the recliner. He walked by, saw me, decided to join me.... As he has done several times now. He won't always do it, but he sometimes thinks he's a lap cat. A 30-40 pound lap cat that's about four to five feet long overall. It's funny, when he does climb up, he's just absolutely careful and precise, basically delicate, where he steps and how he lays on your lap. VERY intelligent animal.
He's about 3 years old, so we are looking forward to seeing his dog like activities for many years yet.
He's not hyper, he's not full of energy but is perfectly healthy and well. He doesn't jump from place to place, he's actually a very chill dude. If he's laying on a table and purring, you can feel the vibration through the table top.
We were in right place at right time, knew right people, got very lucky, whatever. Very happy to add this gentle giant cat to our home.
    Poor guy.
He was taken away from his four humans, three animal friends, and a familiar home of three years or so, and put into strange surroundings with new people.
The upside is he has become mellow, laid back, affectionate even. No kids will chase him or pull his long tail here.
Kind of like a kitty rest home?
He seems more calm/content than he was in his other home. Maybe it had too much activity?
Thanks for your wonderful and Informative channel. Keep up the good work!! Newly subscribed 😁

      Forgot to add this:
During early research, came across readings that said to give them fish, chicken, or beef to supplement their diet.
      Ok, cool.
Went to store and bought some chicken thighs. Being a good, naive, and new Savannah cat's person, I thoroughly washed the chicken before baking it with NO oils or seasonings. I diced it up into bite sized pieces and offered it to the F2 on a paper plate, careful to keep my fingers out of the way of the fierce meat eating semi-wild cat.
He bent down, carefully sniffed all the chicken pieces, then began making scratching motions like he was burying his poo.....
My cooking that bad? Even wildcat won't eat it. Hmmm....
Found out they like it raw.
      Oops?!?

I bet those kids were gRapeing that cat on a regular basis. What are you doing to it? Probably wrecking his bee whole and tea-bagging him on the regular?

Yeah candy coating some of that makes dimwit regular cat people and teenage girls who should never have one of these think they want to get one. I have an F2. They are aggressive. Sure they are especially sweet and affectionate on a different level but everything is war mode when they are playing and you better be into it because you are going to bleed a lot. Sorry to hear yours doesn’t like your wife and I think you already know that’s a real problem. But lucky you being the one she chose. Mine chose me in my house as well, kinda cool but sucks the others in my family don’t get the full experience. F2 is almost a different species than an f3 as I’m sure you know.
