you prolly dont care but does someone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Ali Jeffery thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is only a tiny sampler of what a tourist might see. Mackay and it's surrounds are an absolute paradise. Miles and miles of shallow, clean sandy beaches like you saw. North Mackay is hilly, and so features lookouts with panoramic vistas- "Tit hills", Sladey lookout, Mt Bassett to name a few. (Tit hills is a saddleback, many hoons tried to get their cars airborne over them for a thrill, I think it's now chicaned). The region is ALWAYS green thanks to the cane, which is among the tallest in Oz. One must take care travelling country roads in the area during crushing season, as sugar trams (little trains) can pop out unexpectedly from the cane and cross the roads. They don't stop for you. There are three mountain ranges within roughly an hour of town that are magnificent drives- Eungella, Sarina Range, and Eton Range. All covered in tropical rainforest. Eungella is a particularly nice road as it follows the Pioneer River up a valley and climbs a horseshoe cliff face at the end. From the hang gliding platform at the top, one can see all the way back (72km) to the coast on a clear day. Platypus live in the rivers and creeks, and can be easily observed in their natural habitat. Mackay has two good shopping centers one in the CBD and one at Mt Pleasant (northside). A good selection of hospitals public and private, as well as a goodly number of schools- primary, secondary and tertiary. Health and education are well catered for. Many quality pubs, taverns, nightclubs in the main street, many restaurants featuring the freshest offerings. Mackay is the service hub for the Bowen Coal Basin- providing industrial work, as well as fishing, all facets of tourism and hospitality, and of course the sugar industry. Plenty of work, therefore a pretty low crime rate (at least it was, I have been away for a considerable amount of time). High level bridges get you back and forth across the river, spaced evenly from town all the way up the valley. Some feature big swing ropes over the deep swimming holes in the river. Dumbleton weir which separates the salt from the fresh water is also a good swimming hole- ask a local how to get to "Big Rock". Mackay is called "The Gateway to the Whitsundays" as Cannonvale, Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour are 1 1/2 hour's drive north via Proserpine. I would finish work on a Fri arvo, clean up, throw some clothes in a backpack, ride my motorbike to Airlie, and book into The Bunkhouse (a backpackers on the main street) for two nights. Ride back home sunday arve. Great times. All in all, Mackay IS a paradise, and I for one can't wait to get back there.
Hello and thanks for the detailed comment, I literally just had a few hours to film so could only get a tiny bit. I will return one day to do a longer and better job.
I lived in Mackay for eight months in 1974-75. Most of the places featured in this video didn't exist when I was there. Although, I did have some sweet and sour chicken in the Ambassador Hotel once. :-)
Finally a Mackay video where I can actually recognise the places!
Miss Mackay. Such a beautiful quaint town full of friendly folks.
