Algebra II on Khan Academy: Your studies in algebra 1 have built a solid foundation from which you can explore linear equations, inequalities, and functions. In algebra 2 we build upon that foundation and not only extend our knowledge of algebra 1, but slowly become capable of tackling the BIG questions of the universe. We'll again touch on systems of equations, inequalities, and functions...but we'll also address exponential and logarithmic functions, logarithms, imaginary and complex numbers, conic sections, and matrices. Don't let these big words intimidate you. We're on this journey with you!
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

Thank you! Khan academy is helping me identify and fix all the holes left from my high school algebra career (they are many) and for the first time I'm really understanding the theory behind it! Understanding it is really making me enjoy math and giving me confidence that I'll be able to handle more advanced courses c:

Thank you so much!! I watched videos showing me how to algebraically find asymptotes but none ever showed me what they really look like & their true meaning!!!!

  • @MrDanTheMathMan

Think of it this way: add in the term of the same degree to the numerator with a coefficient of 0. So for example, (x+1) / (x^2) would become (0x^2 + x + 1) / (x^2). Horizontal asymptote is the coefficients of the highest degree terms, (numerator / denominator). 0 divided by any # is 0. So in the example, (0x^2) / (x^2) is 0/1 which is 0. So the horizontal asymptote is y=0.

We had a pop quiz today on graphing radical functions without a calculator. We had to know the domain, range, x-int, y-int, v adymptote, h asymptote, holes, whether it was cont., and if so, points of dcon. As well as graph using specific points. She gave us 10 min to do two probs. You can guess how that went.

Because teachers start with definitions and generalized examples and you just get bored, so you probably start playing games on your phone or something like that. I know i do. If every new lecture would start with easy example so we know what is going on, everyone would listen and understand it..I have an exam tomorrow, and sadly, that's why I'm here..

hi, i have a question. When the numerator is less than the denominator (the degrees) i know that it is "Bigger Bottom Zero" as my teacher taught it and the horizontal asymptote = zero. I want to know why that happens. Please respond when you can. Thanks Sal

Okay, so he said that a rational function is a fraction with a polynomial as the numerator and denominatory, and starts out with x^2 as the numerator. But isn't x^2 a monomial, since it's one term.
