    I'm actually really impressed with how much power it was making, would you say it's pretty comparable to a nitro heli? Is there any kind of tuning element to it, or does the computer just give you maximum performance at all times? Does it seem like it's making more power as the turbine breaks in more? Awsome flying as always Jeff!

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  3 місяці тому +1

      I am too! This Heli really does impress me every flight! So there is no actual tuning. It is all computer controlled but you can take power away. For example, if you want to have less RPM at the engine. But theoretically, it should make the exact same power from the day. It’s a new till you send it in for service. The biggest issue with a turbine is the delay in throttle response. So when you load the collective, it’s a two second delay, forget the rpm back so you must be very smooth to try to not enter that throttle stage. Might try and play with throttle curves to help eliminate some of that. Course because it has a V style curve right now. I would compare power to a rich nitro.

    • @Lance57H
      @Lance57H 3 місяці тому +1

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 oh gotcha, that's still really impressive, for some reason I thought you were running a governor on it, is it possible to run one or do you have to just use curves with it?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  3 місяці тому +1

      @@Lance57H I’m running Vbar Governor. Using a RPM sensor to the fan. But with Vcontrol they have a V curve so as you add power you get more RPM and as you go to center you get less RPM but I think it’s so much of a curve. Need to play with it.

    Does this burn regular nitro blend or something else? Also I assume it has a clutch transmission? If so what kind of maintenance is involved here?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  3 місяці тому +1

      So we run kerosene with 5% Kingtech turbine oil. You can run Jet A or diesel as well. Yes, there is a clutch. Same one as the nitro 700. No real maintenance needed except after a couple hundred flights or a hot start you have to replace the liner.

    You are a great flyer and builder and sorry to sound negative but i really do not see the point of a turbine in a heli other than a scale model. What is gained over a elec or ic with far greater power to weight. it can not be as thrilling flying the turbine. Fun yes but its no way as capable for hard acro or 3d. its a great model BUT normally all your flying is much more agressive than this. put a huey body on it and i get a turbine heli. Dont for get you can fly all your other 600/700 helis just like this turbine. not saying its a bad vid, i also do not get EV cars either !

      In all honesty are used to not care for turbine helicopters before building and flying this morning. Are used to think they were pointless and a waste of money, but they are just different! It is a different flying and it’s just cool not every day do you see a Turbine helicopter doing light 3-D. And in all honesty, I can turn the head speed up even more and push it harder than I have been. But of course, it will never have the torque in power of an electric or could be flown as hard as an electric model.
