Those factory bolts are on there so tight, my impact drill won’t even budge them
Depending on the mileage of the car the factory bolts could be a little tight. Our car did not have too many miles when we did the install.

Where the down pipe connect to the rest of the system looks to me that need attention is kind of small diameter and then go bigger

Can you confirm what size bolts are on the heat shield? M6 2x 16mm and 1x 25mm stainless steel?
Unfortunately we do not have that information.
What downpipe is better the Mishimoto or the ZZPERFORMANCE downpipe?
We do not have much experience with ZZP products, so we are not able to compare.
Where or who can do a tune after the install?
Any local tuner should be able to get the ECU calibrated or you can get a Trifecta tune and have a remote style tune done.

What front splitter is that?
The kit on this car was a test piece. The closest thing we have that replicates it is the ACS "ZL1" style front splitter.

This kit will not work on the Terrain.
what problems can I run into if I don't get it tuned for a decent period of time, is it a need or a recommendation?
The car will run rich, causing the spark plugs to foul and consume more fuel. Those are the quick issues if a tune is not performed.
Long term, carbon build up on the valves and pistons causing pre-detonation, which is not good for a boosted vehicle.

Would a pcm tune work to get rid of the check engine light?
Yes, tuning the PCM would be what is needed to eliminate the check engine light and ensure that the air/fuel ratio's are dialed in.
