- With the 2023 NFL Draft now behind us, it feels almost impossible to say anyone came out as bigger winners than Howie Roseman, Nick Sirianni & the Philadelphia Eagles. Because not only did they shock everyone with their selections of Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, AND Kelee Ringo out of Georgia on draft weekend, the trade for RB D’Andre Swift was the move nobody saw coming. But in terms of what all these moves mean for what we’ll see from the 2023 Philadelphia Eagles, it might be what none of us were expecting.
To start with the Eagles offense, as if it wasn’t already dominant enough last season, the combination of D’Andre Swift & Rashaad Penny alongside Kenneth Gainwell & Boston Scott create a running dynamic the Eagles have never had. And not to mention with Jalen Hurts & the ridiculous pass presence with guys like AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Quez Watkins, & Dallas Goedert, D’Andre Swift will add a ton both to the run and the pass game.
But then with the Eagles defense, they could not have done better than this. Because by stacking up the defense with past Georgia Bulldogs even further, they essentially filled all gaps that were left in this team. And adding Jalen Carter & Nolan Smith to the returning cast of Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham, Haason Reddick, Nakobe Dean, James Bradberry, & Darius Slay, there’s no reason to think they won’t improve upon where they ranked in 2022.

Can't forgot. Last year they got Jordan Davis (DT) & Nakobe Dean (LB).
Thats now 4 guys all within the box that won a championship together in 2021 at Georgia.
So just think about the chemistry those guys are going to have controlling the line of scrimmage.
And for those that will say Nakobe didn't play much last year, he was getting coached up because the Eagles knew they weren't signing Edwards & White for 2023+.
Therefore, Howie Roseman pulled off a brilliant two year draft plan by now replacing those great Linebackers with two DAWGS from Georgia mixed with the other 2 playing on the line in front of them.

But the Georgia players they got last year weren’t anything special like everyone hyped them up to be. So I don’t get why howie is getting praise for just getting big names that everybody knows from college football. There were players that nobody knew about coming out of college that played better than them last year.
They wasted Nakobe's rookie year because after learning the defense inside out, the coordinator got hired away so he has to learn a whole new defense so that equals a wasted year. The Eagles don't re-sign many linebackers and that makes me sad that they squandered one of his four years here. No disrespect to TJ Edwards but Nakobe will prove to be the better linebacker.
The Swift deal is so underrated. He's gonna be unlocked with the threat of Hurts. And unlike Miles he's a threat in the pass game.
History’s says he’ll give you one or two great games and a bunch of games you’ll be like wtf and scratching your head. It wasn’t a Detroit thing, it’s a swift and injury thing. I’ve seen some say, he didn’t get enough reps. That’s because he was always banged up and hobbled. Detroit was absolutely terrible at tuning on first down. How does that happen if Swift is as good as everyone thinks and Detroit has one of the best O lines in the NFL? I hope he can get rid of the injury big and turn his career around. I wish he had here. When healthy he’s dynamic! But his window closed and we went with the odds and got something for him while we still could. I think it was a great deal for both teams and swift.

People never seem to mention that we lost both of our starting safeties (one of which almost led the league in INTs despite missing half the season). D-Line looks better in the longterm, but we aren't just going to replace Hargrave's production with a rookie. Not holding my breath on Nolan Smith transitioning to a coverage linebacker either (that never seems to work) he'll probably rotate with Haason Reddick at the SAM spot, and maybe take over the weakside in exotic blitz packages (which I hope to see more of this year)
CJ was trash bro. He had the INTs mainly because of the talent around him, but he was graded as one of the worst starting safeties in the league, he was horrible in coverage and against the run. Reed Blankenship honestly played much better than CJ when he started, the future is bright for him. I also have faith in Sydney Brown at the SS spot, we’ll be fine. And Hargrave was also trash against the run, Milton Williams has a better pass rush win rate than Hargrave, so he definitely can mimic has sack numbers….

They need to prove it but on paper Swift/Penny are more talented and versatile (no disrespect to either Blount or Ajayi /SB Champs). And an improved Gainwell is definitely insurance and adds great depth

Swift is a great Turf runner coming from Lions field which is the surface that always gives the Eagles problems in the postseason and the surface that the SB is always played on. Turf is like handicapping teams who are superior athletically and physically so it's good to have someone who can adapt

Did you read his and his twin brothers story??? Their mom raised them in Canada. Loaded them in their car at 16, drove them to a family she met 2 days prior in Florida. The couples kids graduated college and had extra room. They took the twins in to give them a home. The mom returned to Canada, got evicted and paid their tuition while living in a shelter. Their grandfather died in Vietnam when he threw himself on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers lives during a attack. He was awarded the medal of honor at his funeral. Bro there's more. Gardner-johnson was a hard hitter which I liked but he wasn't a great tackler and even though I like confidence, he overvalues himself. Outstanding draft. Outside of the wasted pick spent on the stanford QB, every other pick was a winner. I love their 7th round pickup of Moro Ojomo at defensive tackle. Deandre Swift is a nice pick up which addresses the need created when Miles left. Picking him up on the final year of a rookie contract was cost effective. He adds the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield too but I must say, I am even more excited about Rashaad Penny. If he can stay healthy, he will actually elevate the Eagles offense. That beautiful offensive line blowing open big holes for him to run through. He will run over linebackers and defensive backs with his north/south style of running on his way to the endzone. Even as we speak. Howie is working to bring in and sign unrestricted free agents just like he did with TJ Edwards and Reed Blankenship. Having Howie and Lurie are a blessing. Go Birds!
The Eagles value the backup QB position more than most teams so I don’t see the pick as a waste if he can develop into a top tier backup. It gives the Eagles more freedom in free agency in future years as well as currently they pay 8-10mil for players like Minshew or Mariota which can be cut right down if McKee develops.

2023 draft was fanominal and Eagles 🦅 are gonna rock teams and think record's will be broken and be set for other teams for years to chase after for many years to come and next several years I believe Eagle's w will be in play offs and SuperBowls for next forseeable future more than people can believe we should and can be the best Dynasty that's been out in a very very long time and will the bar marked for teams .for years to come to try to match their goals and experience what they will and can do strive for perfection of the game. ❤😊

I think coaching departures could play a huge role. Shane Steichen was our offensive play caller (will we be a good? ). Gannon was our DC, and our defense will be better!
I think that’s fair to say that about the Offense, I do hope Johnson can step right in there Shane left off. My biggest worry is losing Brian Johnson in the QB room and having another guy coach up Hurts

Eagles have been making great moves for the last two years. This off-season alone with cap friendly free agent signings and slam Dunkin the draft After losing so many players to free agency and they may actually have a better roster then last year lol
I'm certain they're going to run 2 back packages, run the run pass option, or fakes with a backside screen out of it. Should keep all Rbs healthy in this rotation also

While I'm excited, I'm not jumping on the Superbowl bandwagon just yet. Getting to the Superbowl is ridiculously hard. We had a great team last year, and a better on this year, but all it takes is a key injury or two to blow up your roster. We got lucky last year and got through the season pretty much unscathed (aside from Hurts, but by then, we had a great chance to win the NFC).
Also, while this looks good on paper, that doesn't necessarily translate to actual gameplay.
Again, I am excited, but shutting can happen next year. I just hope it ends with us lifting the Lombardi trophy.
I've always been high on D'andre Smith. He's been on a losing team for a while and he's hungry.
So imagine him on one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
Also, the RB competition is great so that nobody gets complacent.

I am a bit worried about the "SAFETY SITUATION"!! Really its just the safety room and linebacker room that need a bit more, i can see Morrow replacing White, but i highly highly doubt Dean will replace TJ Edwards, so slightly worse(or just different?) There, then i can see Epps being covered by who weve signed so far, but CJs presence is still missing(i forget their name but i do like the one we drafted, just dont know if he'll even start) but im definitely riding on a lot of unproven talent in either rookies, 2nd years, or new signings in our scheme. Offense still just feels so solid, ive seen some vids of DJ Fulker(i think) practicing with Philly coaches or smth, and i think hed be a great add, I love the depth in the backfield, i think its a major threat, and the biggest thing is staying healthy for ppl like Jalen and AJ.
but id love to see a great linebacker added (or Myles Jack like ESPN said) or another safety added to the roster, but im excited to see who hits the roster and how they perform. Way too long to wait.

I loved Miles Sanders, no one going to tell me this man did not play his butt of this season, he made plays that got this team to the super bowl, I'm not sure what happen to him in it, but to me he is a loss for this team, he’s a young man, and he’s going to have moments, like us all but over all he’s a great player. I do wish him well where he is going, he’s one of the reasons why I fell in love with this year’s team, I will be watching for him next season, he’s gained a fan.
Me too haha I had stopped watching football for a while and I was on an outing when the game came on, to see this dude in the in zone so much I was like who is this dude. I had to look him up to see if he was Deion Sanders son but I found out no. To see this dude pushing in pushing through making holds to make touchdowns was phenomenal to see haha I was like wow 🤯. I literally watched every game up to the Superbowl haha and I wasn't even trying to, but I love seeing Miles Sanders I loved his heart and his finish. It's often hurts and is sad when humans won't allow you to be HUMAN when all we are is humans, you're going to have trying moments in life you're not going to get them all but to keep going is all that matters and that is what Miles Sanders is doing to ME. I love this year's 2022- 2023 Eagles team I love them ALL.
