Yeah it works pretty damn well. Better than I thought it would actually. I’ve been using it to water my plant starts in the garage for the garden Since I haven’t been able to go out in a bit lol
Heck yes I like how your mind works! I’ve been thinking about a method to heat water and take showers in an emergency situation. Originally I was thinking of getting an electrode water heater to heat water in a plastic sprayer then using that. But to have a metal sprayer you have the option to heat over fire OR with an electrode heater. You’ve just earned a new subscriber. 👍
Thank you so much posting this! Gonna build one. I too was looking for the Zodi. How is it holding up? Any rust or issues that you have found or design changes that would make in your approach so I can modify accordingly? Is the handle and pump assembly metal? (That's the downside of the cheap plastic sprayers/plastic) How many pumps does it need for expelling the 3 gallons? And how long of shower can you take in one run? Thanks again fellow overlander!!
There are probably more cost effective ways to make this without heating the unit up on the stove aspect. If you got your water hot in whatever pot you bring camping you could get away with building this out of a plastic pump sprayer I'm thinking. Thanks for watching
Thank-you, this is helpful. I had the same idea, I bought my Smith sprayer to make this shower last summer, but never finished it. I was just looking up the info because I'm camping again and want to use it. The Smith sprayer looks much more robust than the Zodi. Do you have the link to the girl you reference? I would be interested in seeing others that have made this system.
Hey there I am just curious as to why you went with that particular sprayer. I found one like yours for a lower price, just on a pretty critical budget right now. I guess my question is would I be able to use a similar one, it’s stainless steel 3 gallon pump sprayer.
Very cool, thank you for sharing! Hey I am wondering if I could set up the same thing but with a slightly different stainless steel 3 gallon sprayer, I found one for a bit less, just on a super critical budget.
I'm not sure stainless steel is the best option as this will rust. I wonder if there are any high quality plastic designs similiar to this that can withstand the high pressure.
Awesome video! This is perfect because I have actually been trying to buy the zodi extreme for months and can’t find it anywhere. Their website isn’t working either. I had no idea they were going out of business. But to be honest, this looks like a better setup anyway. I’m definitely doing this. Was just looking at amazon and saw a shorter wider tank. Any other good brands that you considered? I have a summit camper on a crewmax tundra (similar setup to you) so am trying to figure out how I want to mount mine as well. The short/wide option might work better so it’s not so top heavy when loaded? Or is that even an issue on yours?
Shorter stainless unit would work I am sure. I went with the Smith unit for the 3.5 gallon cylinder. I haven't mounted it yet, but I'll show off where I do once I do. Thanks for watching!
Hahaheeheheh, the shower at the end is the true clincher, great vid man!!
lol thanks! You gotta remove all shame when created by UA-cam videos I guess
You did a great job, eliminates electricity, pump noise, and a pot to heat the water...Yea, ok I'll say it again... you did a great job!
Thanks for posting!! Definitely come in handy
Great info.
I’ve had a version of this idea for a while.
Nice to see it being implemented and shown.

Expensive but very awesome 👍

During the day put it out in the sun in a black plastic bag to absorb the heat. I've been using a black bucket for an after dive rinse
Great call!
Nice! Definitely a sweet hack
Thanks man
This is great! Tyfs!
Hey Maria, glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
Just subbed

can you provide a link for the water thermometer?

Awesome! Yes. Was looking for a replacement for my zodi. Mine rusted inside after 4 yrs of service. Any rusting issue w this one?
That’s what I was trying to recreate was the zodi. No rust yet but I’ve only had it for 2 years ish.
Good work

So far all the ones I've seen were plastic. Thanks for showing me a metal one that can be heated
Yeah I think you got a build your own. Metal is the way to go for sure.
Strap some 12v/50 watt ptc heaters around it and you have energy efficient hot water.
Very cool, thank you for sharing!

I don’t see why not. I would heat make sure the reviews of the one you are looking at are positive
how many minutes of water flow does the tank provide? thanks

Plastic will melt
Sweet idea but the $200 price tag is a little steep for camping. Thanks for sharing

How many showers do you usually get out of this ?! Sweet video
I could probably get 2 if I was conserving

Corny kegs are much cheaper
That’s a good idea. I wonder if you could pressurize it by hand pump
