Thank you for these tips! I really like the mig-19 but was not aware of the fuel tanks snapping, IFF needing to be turned on, or single fire missle settings.
I actually didn’t know it had an IFF transponder, but I’ve never been team killed. Also with the guns, you can arm both, but just flick the power switches on the right off for one of them, little less time consuming in the heat of a battle. Also, in addition to the wing tanks ripping off if you snap roll, pulling Gs can do it too - there’s a marker for it on the G gauge left of the hud - but it’s not just the tanks you can rip off… Missiles can rip off too above about 8/9Gs and if you snap roll too hard you can actually snap the line for your ailerons, which is very unfun.
Yeah, I've snapped off the missiles before, but couldn't replicate it during testing, so wasn't sure exactly what I had done to do so. Probably was just very high G (was during a full burner pursuit, must have pulled up harder that I realised)
You can use afterburners with wing tanks for things like take off and climbing to altitude. I honestly recommend holding brake while throttling to AB to take off rather than a rolling anyway. Generally over speeding the farmer with or without tanks is a bad idea. You'll snap your wings pretty easily with negative G or a sharp turn doing that.
One thing to know is that you can turn with the saber but in vertical spiral and stall him out
Good to know! I'll definitely give that a go
Ya i would second this . Instead if flat turning big looping turns and vertical moves to beat the f5 and sabre
I've never flown the mig-19 but I have learned to avoid dogfighting it, even if I fly a tomcat the farmer is nasty to have up close

Glad these have helped!

Title misleading. No mention of livestock. Very good tips for plane, though

Bonus. You already removed the cockpit gun camera in the Special Options menu. Nice!
Tip 11: bind all mentioned functions (maybe except IFF) to Stick/HOTAS :D
Arming one gun is big brain time
Nice video, thanks for the tips 😀
IFF doesn't work like that. Your transponder will always be showing as on to the MiG-21, if you get TK'd by one its their fault not yours.
Ahh. OK. What does the IFF switch do then?
@@Dr_Jebus go from off to on? Outgoing IFF isn't implemented in DCS. God help us if it ever is, TKs will go through the roof
