Usually my plants as gifts are those that I propagate and pot up...pothos..philodendron and arrowhead plant...if they kill it at least I didn't waste my money !
I agree with your lists. I received my Calathea lancifolia as a Christmas gift last year from a coworker. She mentioned that it was her first time seeing the plant but she knew I would like it because, “you have lots of plants in your office”. I appreciated plant and it is doing great. I just gave a goldfish plant as a gift to a teenage plant friend.
These are all great suggestions as gifts. I am worried about bugs. Do you have some kind of routine after purchasing plants? To be sure the plant does not have bugs.
Hi I loved all ur plants there are absolutely beautiful . I just bought a four inch pot of Phil. Brazil. How old is ur P. Brazil and neon pothos? Love xoxo
I did not know about Bird's Nest Sanseveria. I put that one on my list! Thank you for a great video. I'm always on the lookout for low maintenance plants.
Great advice and great suggestions for the pros and cons of the easy and the "divas" of plant ownership. A plant gift should be an enjoyable experience
Great video Keely Joy, I agree with your five plants to give as gifts, those are perfect, I have all of them, now the five to not give as gifts, I also agree, I also have all of them too. My Stromanthe Triostar sits in my kitchen with good light but not too much, and I mist mine every other day, and I guess she is happy cause her leaves are not brown, same with the Calathias and Marantas. I just barely got an African Mask on clearance at Lowe's, I guess we will see how she does, she is so pretty and looks pretty good. I am gifting my daughter some of my cuttings of my Pothos and Variegated Peace lily, she is really getting into plants, and whenever she buys a new one she asks me how it is to grow, if it is easy or difficult, I love that I can share some of my plants with her. Thanks again, have a great 4th, see you soon, bye for now.
Good advice. I just got invited to a house warming. The person who is having the party has no plants. As you say in the video, you want the person to be successful with the plant and build confidence.
Great video! While some people think you should never give plants as gifts, I think they can be great as long as you know the recipient at least likes plants and is open to giving it a try. My one must when giving a plant is to include a water probe as part of the present. They are super cheap and will likely save your friend the stress of killing their gift. What may need water every week in my home may only need it every 2 or 3 in theirs. I'd rather give a probe and give them the tools to not only keep their gift alive, but the confidence to buy it some friends!
Caletheas and Ferns are UGH! Anything that needs a lot of humidity is a no thanks for this weather! I gifted a Brazil Philo to my 17 year old artist niece and she was so happy!! Philos and Pothos are the best!
good video! I thought your number five was going to be a spider plant. I have sanseverias too such a fun plant! I have 6 and recently i got a starfish one. it looks like a aloe plant but handles lower light.
I have a list of plants I forbid myself from buying. "Calathea" is top on my banned list. I actually need air conditioner and furnace depending on the month.
A humidifier would be a good investment for humidity loving plants o: . And would help with that. Could even use a essential oil diffuser if you have trouble finding a humidifier that isn't a eyesore.
Good choices on both lists! I personally have not had luck with Arrow Head plants but, I'm working on it. I think another great choice is Spider Plants and a bad choice would be a Fern! ....When giving plants as gifts, also be sure to consider if the recipient has pets!
Thank you and I recently gave my family member a marble queen lithos! I purchased this plant after one of his visits to see my hubby I refer to him fondly as dad I was a little nervous as I noticed yellow leaves on the bottom. He mentioned that he loved plants! So for Fathers Day. I agree with your favorite selections. I will ask him how it’s doing! I also propagated two of my pathos and have given two away! What do you think of giving a spathaphyllium aka peace lily’ Your plants are just lovely Your neon lithos and African Mask were breath taking! I also agree with those choices for not giving as a gift! Oh I have had success of my crotons! This took years for me! Both sit at my South facing windows. And you’re right, I would not give someone a finicky plant or high maintenance! Thank you
Great video! I agree with both of your lists! I had to “learn” how to take care of my prayer plant and crotons! They are a bit more challenging than a golden pothos or sansevieria...
I agree about the maranta not being a good gift. I have 3 reds and 2 lemon limes. I mist them with distilled water several times a day and check them to make sure they are moist. I LOVE THEM but not a good gift. I had one get hurt in a window with filtered light that it loved but winter happened and it was too cold.
Very informative that was good information. One of the things that I would consider is which plants are poisonous to cats, dogs and young children. I would have to consider that when giving a gift of plants.
TFS, my Florida beauty is giving me a hard time I have it moist and in a north facing Window gets light but not too much and I still get brownish leaf from the bottom, is that normal?
I bought a prayer plant last year at the beginning of my plant journey not knowing that they were finicky plants! I’m struggling with it but luckily it is still alive!
i know the arrowhead plant is a fun one but I don't agree that it would be a good one for a gift. my home has hardly any direct or even filtered light. we have a lot of big shady trees around us. In my opinion shade tolerant plants light the ZZ are better options for gifts. you never know if people have enough light for the new gift.
I agree with your list and tips, i put my Croton outside in full sun because they love bright light, but it's not a plant for a beginner. I haven't conquered a Stromanthe so no I wouldn't recommend it also. Great video editing
Bought philodendron for my house, but apparently poisonous to cats. And my daughter has a cat. Can’t make up my mind 🤔 get rid of the cat or my daughter. Definitely both. 🤣
I hate getting plants as gifts. No one really knows which plant I have my eyes set on, and I'm always changing my mind anyway. Last thing I'd want is to receive a plant I don't want and then be forced to keep it so not to disappoint the person who gifted it LOL
I never even thought about it until she said that but the grocery stores dress the plants up in fancy containers and people buy them for gifts. I even see Zebra plants dressed up. That's definitely a bad gift plant. I can't even keep it alive!

Awesome! And goldfish plants are definitely one of my favorites! Great gift!!
I will love to be in ♥️♥️♥️love plants so much and ur videos too

Interesting idea

This was a great video . I have never given a plant as a gift but Now I would really consider it. Thank you keely .
Thanks Evelyn!
I did not know about Bird's Nest Sanseveria. I put that one on my list! Thank you for a great video. I'm always on the lookout for low maintenance plants.
I love the birds nest Sansevieria. It's small and cute!
Love this video! What a great idea for this one as I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for all you do. God Bless you.
Thank you so much Patricia!
I totally agree with your top five to give and avoid gifting. The Alocasia sure are finicky. Thanks for sharing😊👍❤.
Alocasia are finicky...but I ❤ them lol
Great advice and great suggestions for the pros and cons of the easy and the "divas" of plant ownership. A plant gift should be an enjoyable experience
I agree!
I love all the plants you named and i will try to get all of them i have golden pothos snake plant spider plamt.
Thank you!
It would have helped so much if u wrote down the names in description especially for beginner. Great content tho👏
So true ,only four I have.🎯 Number one my bff
Will you do a top 5 low-light house plants video?
Sure. Thanks for the idea!!

Cuttings are awesome gifts! Good luck with your African Mask. They are beautiful plants!

Thank you! I agree. You have to know if they are open to plants.
Awesome video..omg your plants are Beautiful❤👍
Thank you!!
I do give plants as gifts, and the ones you picked are excellent choices and most are fairly easy to propagate as well.
I love giving plants as gifts. I think everyone should have at least one plant 😊
Caletheas and Ferns are UGH! Anything that needs a lot of humidity is a no thanks for this weather! I gifted a Brazil Philo to my 17 year old artist niece and she was so happy!! Philos and Pothos are the best!
your Calathea are lovely! I wish I had the lighting for those plants.
good video! I thought your number five was going to be a spider plant. I have sanseverias too such a fun plant! I have 6 and recently i got a starfish one. it looks like a aloe plant but handles lower light.

Calathea can be difficult. Definitely a high maintenance plant.
A humidifier would be a good investment for humidity loving plants o: . And would help with that. Could even use a essential oil diffuser if you have trouble finding a humidifier that isn't a eyesore.
Great video. Thanks for the information
Thanks for watching!!
Cool Video I liked it.
Thank you!!
Good choices on both lists! I personally have not had luck with Arrow Head plants but, I'm working on it. I think another great choice is Spider Plants and a bad choice would be a Fern! ....When giving plants as gifts, also be sure to consider if the recipient has pets!
Totally agree with you! Ferns are my top "stay away" plants and spider plants are so eze-breeze! 😀
Good luck!
Very helpful 👍
Thank you!!
Thank you and I recently gave my family member a marble queen lithos!
I purchased this plant after one of his visits to see my hubby
I refer to him fondly as dad

Love this idea for an idea
Thank you 😊
I like your top 5 to give
Thank you!!
Keely, I agree with you 100%. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Great video! I agree with both of your lists! I had to “learn” how to take care of my prayer plant and crotons! They are a bit more challenging than a golden pothos or sansevieria...
What's the name of the syngonium with the gorgeous pink leaves? Wow. I love it!
It's called a pink allusion syngonium. One of my favorites!
@@KeelyJoy Thank you!
I agree about the maranta not being a good gift. I have 3 reds and 2 lemon limes. I mist them with distilled water several times a day and check them to make sure they are moist. Thanks for pros and cons plants
I certainly agree with the don't give list 🤗
Thank you!
great video Keely! thanks so much!
Thanks for watching Pam! You're welcome!
Hi! I agree 100 percent with your choices.
Thank you!
Very informative that was good information. One of the things that I would consider is which plants are poisonous to cats, dogs and young children. I would have to consider that when giving a gift of plants.
Great tip! That definitely should be considered!
On point with thoes not to give as gifts . Totally agree
Thank you!
Do your arrowheads get spider mites and what do you do?
They don't but my ivy does. I check it everyday and wipe the leaves front and back once a week with neem oil.
TFS, my Florida beauty is giving me a hard time I have it moist and in a north facing Window gets light but not too much and I still get brownish leaf from the bottom, is that normal?
It might need Humidity. Browning leaves are usually a sign of humidity or harsh water.
I bought a prayer plant last year at the beginning of my plant journey not knowing that they were finicky plants! I’m struggling with it but luckily it is still alive!
Kathleen Murphy Thank you so much! I will try to keep my prayer plants happy. I will check out your channel 🌿
That's awesome! They love Humidity
They also go dormant ,I thought mines was dead. I checked the roots and was shocked how healthy it looked. It came back this summer😀😁
Claudete Eva i didn’t know that they went dormant. Good to know because I thought mine was dying
That ghost cactus must have cost a pretty penny. I’ve searched and only found rootless cuttings for a lot of money.
Thanks. Maybe next time, can you share spelling of plant names? But thank you!
i know the arrowhead plant is a fun one but I don't agree that it would be a good one for a gift. my home has hardly any direct or even filtered light. we have a lot of big shady trees around us. I'm proud of myself with this croton so far! Thank you!
You are welcome, I started watching your videos when you we're filming outside 😁
It's way to hot for that now! I appreciate you!!
I m watchibg to buy a gift die myself🌸🌸🌸🌸I love my calathea medaillon.
Buying yourself a gift is great too!!
I still can't get over your Ghost Euphorbia...I can't find it in my area😪
It definitely is a stunning. I hope you find one!!
Bought philodendron for my house, but apparently poisonous to cats. And my daughter has a cat. Can’t make up my mind 🤔 get rid of the cat or my daughter. Definitely both. 🤣
Thank you ....
Thank you!!!

Just be grateful they cared so much to get you a gift in the first place. Not that difficult.
I would be happy with any plant but that is a good point.
Thanks! I get so shocked when I see people buying harder/fussy plants as gifts!
I agree!!
I think that lady's wrong, most of the people I see are buying plants for themselves! I've never actually gotten a plant as a gift
I never even thought about it until she said that but the grocery stores dress the plants up in fancy containers and people buy them for gifts. I even see Zebra plants dressed up. That's definitely a bad gift plant. I can't even keep it alive!
