- Byron Murphy II was a phenomenal pick for the Seahawks in the draft last night. While the Seahawks didn't have a glaring need at defensive tackle, Murphy will join a dominant rotation and is in my opinion one of the steals of the draft.

I think they are gonna put him at End, we have good sized Tackles and he is technically undersized there. Hoping he's gonna be like an Aaron Donald

@@daciannation5847 I could totally see that. I think what the hawks have now is 3 guys who can play anywhere from Nose Tackle to End which is sweet.
Ringer had CH as pick #53. Top Rookies w A+ character traits are rare, & 12s got 2, in BM2 & CH stole a R2 Top Trencher in R3.
Day 3 is where the unpolished gems are found, especially in round 6 & 7 eg 12s can't wait to get the next

UKRG Maths Profs think BM2 was a steal & has HoF potential. They predicted similarly about AD99 & JJ Watt who were also picked in the 11 to 16 range.
Many other NFL pundits agree & also love BM2.
E.g Orlovsky/Sherman/McCourty/Brandt/Kimes/Riddick/Prisco/Miller/M.Florio/C.Simms/Peter King/Viens/Nemhauser/etc think BM2 is 10-13 pick.
(BM2 in turn loves HoF LoB M.Bennett a lot & is a 12 since age 10).
Top DT's are v expensive so to get star on a rookie deal is GREAT.

The Fantastic 4 will have a great season, led by the British James Bond of DC's Me Aden-D (e.g. Big Cat-JarranR-Cobra Murphy-M.Morris)(backed up by Cam Young, etc), are all really good Trench boys who will play very well this yr, giving a huge boost to the 12s Durde D.
It wud be wise to trade away Dre Jones & Myers (too expensive for average play) & also trade away Uchenna as he has become injury prone (as happened to Jamal Adams after a fine record sacks breaking first year)
Cobra Murphy is a big fan of LoB & his fave SB is the Hawks win over record breaking HoF 50 TD's Mannung led Broncos.
BM2s Fave all time NFL player is Mike Bennett.
12s are as happy as Mike Florio who got a great QB in JJ. ( UKRG Maths profs just predicted JJ & Penix & Nix will be better than Caleb & JDD & Maye, a la what happened in QB draft of 1983, one of em cud become the next Dan Marino & BM2 will be the next HoF AD99 or Mike Bennett),
Man, The 12s got a AD99/ Bennett hybrid 2.0, but Murphy is also at v young age of 21, & there is more muscle power & flexible stretch to grow in him. It means BM2 will be better than Mike & win more SB's with Seahawks very soon. Mike Mac shud get M.Bennett in to teach BM2 some magic mike moves.
JS got worried about Fautanu's knee health. Also Grubb knows TF very well, so 12s should trust them in rejecting big Troy, we can get him as a 12, as an FA in 5 yrs time.
The BIGGEST RUN WALL WILL BE BUILT in the PNW & NO Team WILL RUN on the 12s, (just like the good old days of the LoB who were ranked the top D 4 seasons in a row, the only D to ever do that, & the only D to smash the GOAT Offence led by 50 TD's in a season Payton effing Manning). ( as per LoB Stats guy Mr KJ WRIGHT)

They went and got Christian Haynes, the number 2 guard in the draft with the next pick.

31st on run defense I'd say is a pretty big need. Also getting good guards in 2nd and 3rd is quite common. Personally I'd never take a guard in the first round. The positional value just isn't there. Only tackles.
I get the reasoning on both points. I think that the run defense will be improved mostly through the scheme and the addition of Hankins and Nwosu coming off injury. The Guard thing makes sense - usually I would agree. I was willing to make an exception in this case just because the need was so big. If the hawks didn't get a guard in this draft I would be legitimately concerned so I would understand just feeling like you gotta get someone and reaching a little bit for a guard. But the way it worked out was perfect because we now have a star DT and a starting guard!

Getting the second defensive player taken at the 16th pick is good value in my book. Also, one can usually find good offensive guards in the third round.

I think he can really be a great playmaker and that Mike Macdonald can weaponize Jones. I don't think this is his replacement - because you want at least 3 starters and all of these guys are really flexible. I will definitely make a breakdown on Jones but I don't think this is a threat to his playing time - how he plays next year will determine if he is here in 2025.

A Guard in the 1st round is absurd lol
It really isn't imo. I know that it isn't super popular and i probably wouldn't take one in the top 10, but I mean guards are getting paid $20M a year now. For me, I wouldn't take RB or LB but that's probably it. Obviously they have to be a special player, but I think Barton or Jackson Powers Johnson would've been a totally fine pick. But I like Murphy much better!

I don't even know if we will need to trade up for him (or if we want to take him) There have been some pretty serious partying rumors and then he got a DUI a month ago. Between that and his weight (which was probably more than 366) he could be completely off some teams boards. But at least on the field, I would love him in Seattle. Frank Gore Jr was in my hawks 7 round mock! I like him a lot for a late day 3 back.
The amount this guy got double teamed (AND STILL on occasion beat it) was absolutely baffling to me... Should've gone top 5.. Seattle got ridiculously lucky it was a huge QB/OL/WR draft.

My only worry is his arm length. He’s strong as hell but he may wiff on tackles at the next level.
Yeah I really don't think that will be much of a problem. He has good hand usage (a good example is at 4:42) so I think between that and his power, he won't need the longest arms. But I see the concern.

I don't think anyone will be the next Aaron Donald, but I do think that Murphy is going to be a great undersized player. Let's not compare him to the GOAT, but I do think he is a pro bowl and all pro caliber player.

So much better. Haynes was a guy that I never thought would get to 81. He's going to be a great player in the scheme and instantly fills the hole at guard. We could still get another one on Day 3, but I think our biggest need is filled.
