VZ24 BRNO Czech Mauser, Old design for troubled times?

The Czech VZ-24, 8MM Mauser. It’s an old bolt action, 5 shot battle rifle from the last century but is it still a viable home defense/hunting rifle?

Thanks for sharing the video. I just got one in excellent condition. It was originally my grandfather’s and he passed it down to my father and now my dad is in his last year with stage 4 cancer so he passed it on to me. I have not shot this model yet but others that are of the same caliber. I hear that this model is a very reliable one or at least favored by the soldiers my grandfather served with. At least that’s what my father told me. I was always novice when it came to guns because I learned how to shoot at the age of 4 when we lived in Wyoming. I obviously wasn’t an expert on firearms by any means I just knew how to shoot and use one. I have recently (5years ago) got back into them and hunting. Anyway thanks again for sharing this video.

Thank and I believe you’ll be pleased with the rifle. Watch out for that side sling mount on the butt. It can be a mouth popper.

Hmm, still haven't seen anyone with 1 like mine, yours are a lot newer, mine says something like bla bla Zvody something something BRNO I'd have to go look, but anyway from the research I did when I got it , it's the first variation, & guess what 😊 it's about to get a sporter barrel , stock & new sights + the Winchester style bolt shroud & safety already got a different bolt/ bent handle until I can find someone competent to weld the original after I cut it, + quick release scope mounts, probably be worth $600. - $800 after I put $1500. Into it , oh it's all matching numbers except the bolt

Not good for home defense way over penatration would be a concern that thing would go through a couple houses
