Great review, very thorough while also entertaining (extra points for all the puns, ha). I've been dipping into this game a bit for the past day, and agree with all your points. The only thing I would add is that I wish the game offered steering sensitivity options, as I'm having trouble with oversteering more often than not. I had really high hopes for this one, and while there is certainly a ton of potential in this game, a solid patch/update addressing the things you mentioned would go a long way towards making it better.
Thanks mate! This does have so much potential and I personally had a blast playing it. Honestly I think the AI should take priority over performance as its easily the biggest problem. Hopefully they add some assist and control sensitivity options too. Hope all is well
I think it will get fixed sooner rather than later. AI might take longer but a performance patch should be quick. What are the localization issues you found?
One that comes to mind early in the game when you are doing the license challenges is a message about "touching material" if you run into something. Nothing game breaking, but noticeable.
Dissappointing. Terrible shading, no smoke effects Engine sounds cut out You cant RESET a Career race Ai is super inconsistent, overly aggressive. The numbers in the “Statistics” screens are wrong and make no sense. Grid Autosport blows this away and that game is what… 5+ years older? This game stinks.
It's a shame you didn't like it. It could definitely do with a post launch update, but I feel it was a solid effort for an indie dev. I still haven't had a chance to play Grid. Do you recommend it?
be one to watch. bit worrying about needing the patch..for the people who bought early since there's never any guarantees.with modern gaming. if the developer has some socials & they're interacting with people that'd be a good sign. it's on Steam too but a lot of the reviews actually mention the poor switch performance right now. I'd also think £19:99 to£24:99 would be a little more realistic..although so far there's no dlc packs or anything. looks great tho..reminds me a lot of TOCCA om ps2 so that's a plus. great review..really properly helpful stuff about the game...excellent
TOCA 2 is pretty much hitting the nail on the head! The devs are very passionate about this game so there's almost no doubt they will patch it up soon. Thank you for your feedback on the review too!
I like it that you're getting your doughnuts smashed by the AIs. I suspect such will help to prepare for what's coming when you race against real players online...

You nailed all the issues I had with the game besides the localization. Once the frame rate is fixed and the A.I. is tweaked it will be a great game.

Ah yeah I got that message heaps while doing my license. I assumed it was a racing term but as the devs are French that makes sense. Good spotting!
If we wanna play sim racing on Switch, I say we play Ace Combat 7 and pretend we're driving rather than flying.
Ace Combat is so good! Easily my favorite title this year so far. This game has all the right ingredients, just needs an update to shift it into gear!

Licensing isn’t good.
It's decent for an indie dev, But I would have loved to see more. They just released a new content roadmap which is promising.

They have a public discord server and they've been answering people's questions there. Definitely giving me some faith in 'em
